Another source told ESPN.com that the New York Knicks made overtures recently indicating they were willing to trade centers Eddy Curry and Jerome James for Artest and Thomas, but the Kings were balking at taking on the remaining two years and $12.8 million owed to James.

"The whole point of trying to package Artest with Thomas (due $7.9 million next season and $8.6 million in 2009-10) is to clear cap space. The Kings don't want another guy (James) clogging their cap for two more years," the source said.

Thank you Isiah for signing big snacks to this outrageous contract 5 yrs 30 mil
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Wait, they're balking at James' contract and not Curry's uninsured 50 pound overweight heart concerned contract?

LOL

BTW, the deal doesn't help us much. Artest won't save us. Thomas' contract doesn't help us unless you view 2010 as the summer we are out from under Isiah mess. If you do then maybe it's a good trade for us.

Sacramento BTW is worse than your most homeristic realgm fan: They believe their entire roster, although they want it all gone, is worth Gold+1 and nothing less.

Screw them. They might be the most delusional front office when it comes to trade scenarios. One trip to the Sac RealGM board will educate you on the ridiculous atmosphere they live in.

Why is I SAY UGH trying to trade Curry?

You mean to tell me he now rather have a headcase in Artest and nasty Cap Fodder instead of Roy, Aldridge, and Gay?

Isiah said his team is too soft, and he needs more guys with an edge.

Artest and Thomas both play with an edge!

I don't believe it for several reasons:
1. Artest can opt out and is due for an extension and his agent is musing about 14M/yr..
2. Artest is one more head case - that the Knicks can do with out
3. Artest - has stated he would be willing to play for the mid-level exception
4. Brad Miller suits Sacremento's style of play much better than Curry

Sacramento definitely wants to trade Artest - and I can see the Heat/Denver/even Golden State put together a package -- but he is so volatile that he could do the Knicks even more damage- if he isn't happy - and thats not a risk one should take with suc a fragile team- perhaps San Antonio or Detroit - where the veterans would put him in his place - but definitely not the Knicks - he would be totally disruptive.

We don't want him texting the whole team about how he should be voted captain or some other nonsense

that Kings team is pretty good at full strength as it is.

having a bench featuring Curry Udrih Garcia and Douby knocks one of the 6-8 seeds out of the play-offs.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Is that enough of an edge to make up for the complete lack of edge the remaining players play with?

In my eyes... not even close.

Yet, given the contracts returned, it would possibly be a warranted risk. If it doesn't work you let Ron walk and find a way to deal with Thomas even if it means being happy he expires 2010 (I havent looked it up, just fielding a guess) and work it into your liquidation/rebuild plan.

sacs pick and collins

So in essence you're saying David Lee, Malik Rose, 1rst round pick, and Mardy for Artest and CV. That's not a good trade at all.

Isiah thinks they're all too soft, but guess who brought them in ? That's right, Isiah. He has a nose for soft players. And now he wants players with an edge ? What a degenerate.

Actually they gained a little ground once Bibby, Martin, and Artest got back healthy again but they'd lose that ground by giving up Artest and adding Curry, basically squashing all their hopee. If you're Sac you don't trade for Curry hoping for a playoff push.

Enough about Villanueva already. What the hell is so special about a guy Toronto couldn't wait to deal away. Same guy who said he and Bosh would be the next SuperStar combo in the league. Same guy who plays like Tim-Thomas (the body, the skill, the desire to shoot threes). If you want Donyell Marshall just say so.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

If they're considering it they likely feel Salmons gives them enough at the 3 and with such a tight race out West the competition will be hard and intense and Ron is too volatile to depend on like we saw in the Jazz game a few weeks back.

Plus Brad's back-up is a 19 year old rookie.

While those things may be issues at hand they have bigger ones and you don't address those by adding someone of many deficiencies as Curry. We would be taking their most versatile defender away from them and their Top 3 offensive weapon. Salmons is a very nice role player but he's not Artest.

Who cares? Isiah will be here forever. People should just act as if they don't even exist until Isiah is actually fired.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
