Ed Pinckney was a radio and television analyst for the Miami Heat from 1997 through 2003. He was the Heat's Director of Mentoring Programs from 2002 to 2003.

Coaching
Pinckney served as an assistant coach for the Villanova Wildcats, under head coach Jay Wright since 2003.

On September 21, 2007, Pinckney was hired as an assistant coach by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

His resume doesn't seem particularly impressive. I do wonder if it would make more sense to hire a young coach instead of an older one for a rebuilding team though. If I had to guess the Knicks will starphuck and get Rick Carlisle (The highest profile coach currently unemployed.) I like kevin O'neal, or Del Harris for the job.

Might as well stay with Isiah, seeing as we have next year's draft pick too.

Maybe we can make history with two consecutive #1 picks.

I still like Briggs idea of having Tom Thibadeux as coach.

I'd rather get rid of him as soon as possible.

Is he available? I think it would be a good idea, but could the Knicks get him? He just signed a contract in Boston. Im not sure how it works but I think the Knicks might have to give compensation.

I don't know how it works in season, but as long as its a step up, teams generally allow their assistant coaches and front office personal to move to another organization.

I think the best move for a head coach is ewing- he wants to be a coach, and he would be the right mix of star power to get knick fans to come out and support hopefully a young team that might only be winning 20-30 games for a few years- and he would still be young enough that he could grow with a unit comprised of lee, nate, balkman, collins and our draft pick this year and next.

That was my point exactly slimpack.

This guy is a newyorker who grew up idolizing the knicks and understands what the word team means from the frazier days.

Time to go young .

How bout Pat Ewing? I'm saying....Ed Pickyounose's crowning achievment is beating Ewing @ Georgetown. I'm not even sure if he won anthing with Bird and the rest in Boston.....thats the point. No to Ed....is last name is just a comedy dream come true.

I'm afraid Patrick's too busy turning Dwight Howard into a beast at the moment.

if the right environment was in place here (Dolan actually comes out and says we need to rebuild the right way, etc), you don't think Ewing is going to come here and be a head coach?

Yea, everyone dreams of being an assistant coach.

Agreed but check this out.

Didn't he drop a whole lot of hints last year (hanging around the Garden a lot and stuff) that he wanted to be brought in before he got hired by the Magic? I mean, he was right there and the front office wouldn't hire him.

Dolan was still in love with isiah at the time.

And he might still be, for all we know.

And the more I think of it- I wonder if Ewing has become any more talkative as a coach than when he played.

Dolan won't have to worry about policing Ewing & the media - he'll likely not be saying much anyways!

Just as I believe that no one trade can change the culture of the players and this team. Neither can one coach.

You want a successful team one day as a fan? It won't be with these players no matter what you add to them.

In that it still surprises me, that outside of a few individuals in as much denial as Isiah Thomas himself, that the fanbase to a tune of 95%+ are not calling for a complete a total tearing down of this roster of players.

It must be done otherwise we will be locked in, what many of us thought would be 40-win season and 1st round exits, but has actually been FAR worse to the tune of 30-win season filled with "Maybe if ____ starts losing some games we can sneak into the 8th seed!" season after season after season!

Step 1: Fire the man who created the mess (Isiah Thomas)
Step 2: Do trades that are done to simply remove the mess - not try to recycle it (as Isiah failed at) - just remove it.
Step 2a: Along the way, draft smart, play the young kids you have.
Step 3: What could have been the summer of 2009 is unfortunately becoming the summer of 2010: Once the trash is gone, including the remnant financial burdens, begin to build a team the proper way.
Step 4: With a viable plan in hand one can actually be patient and supportive of a team and it's direction.
Step 5: Celebrate a return to the playoffs with a team full of hungry fundamentally sound players with heart and grit and then muse what additions will take it further.

Anything else is foolish. JO won't change this team. Mark Jackson won't change this team. Nothing short of a thorough cleaning will do so.

Cleaning? Cos, I think it's going to take more than some Lysol and Orange Clean at this point. I'm talking about something that would require a hazmat suit.
