"We're really young," Thomas said with a straight face before the Knicks lost 103-100 to the Pacers last night.

"I don't think we can get any younger." Of course, the Knicks' starting lineup that began the season was hardly pups - with Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson, Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry. The two youngest guys of the original starting five are in their seventh seasons.

When a skeptical reporter told Thomas the team may be younger - its average age is 25.6 years - but how about getting better, Thomas said,

"You can say we're not getting better because we haven't won games, but I think over the last couple weeks we have gotten better as a basketball team. However, we haven't completed it with a win."

Lets see:

Craw has been in the league about 7 yrs.
Curry 6yrs,
Zach 6yrs,
Q Rich 7yrs ect.

These are the guys that garner the most minutes so where is the youth? This statement is scray because it almost sounds like he has no plans on getting younger or building through the draft.

Oh my god, why is he still here Dolan?

February 7, 2008 -- Isiah Thomas has come up with a new excuse for the Knicks New York Knicks ' dreadful record - they're the fourth-youngest team in the NBA, and the youngest Knick squad since the 1989-90 season.

Yeah, that and four dollars will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

"We're really young," Thomas said with a straight face before the Knicks lost 103-100 to the Pacers last night - New York's seventh straight defeat.

"I don't think we can get any younger."

4th youngest team? strange, try 10th or 9th (depending on the Lakers avg after the trade with Memphis)

http://www.nba.com/news/survey_age_2007.html

or tell him to watch the blazers sometime, the youngest team in the league

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=Blazers-080125

ps. apparently started a thread minutes after bigbeast started this one, so I deleted mines and copied my post

Why to have young team is good?
Because GM/Coach has a lot of years in frong of him to get big $$$ regardless of his work performance.
This is all about it.

Young was the wrong word. I think he meant we're immature.

And we had Luva telling us all along I SAY UGH the GM injecting youth into this franchise was pretty much a Godsend but I SAY UGH the coach can't make it work. And this is the guy in which all the youth took part in the Garden Coop to oust Brown and have I SAY UGH the coach lead them.

Blue Seats I think immature is a real reason why this team isnt very good. We have one player on our team with a college degree.

Isiah is not a fool.
He made fools of MSG, NBA, and all of us.
He is the true winner in life... at the expense of all losers around him.

All the "young" guys are 6-7 years veterans in our rotation. Isiah is a disgrace to himself.

Not to mention that we're older than a lot of the teams we're losing to.

Seriously. Isiah seems to change his plans after every loss. Hearing him say "We can't get any younger," has me scared to death that he is going to dangle this years draft pick for another past-his-prime big name player.

Huh. You bloggers don't seem like real Knick fans to me. You must be confused. This is a Knicks board, not a Celtics board.

Isiah is the leader of this team. He and Marbs are here for good, so just go root for the Celtics if you don't like him.

He has put together a solid core of young guys who just need time to gel. Don't forget, the team was old and slow when Layden ran things around here.

Isiah is exactly right when he says that the Knicks have become a better basketball team. It's true that this has not translated into wins - I never said the team is perfect - but I really feel that Knicks are about to turn the page and start a new chapter.

I sense that Isiah is beginning to understand how to get the most out of these guys. When he does, the dust will settle, he'll get the team on track, right the ship, safely land the plane, and sweep the detritus from the Garden.
