Randolph Takes Dig At Isiah
January 30, 2008 - 5:54 am
New York Daily News -
Zach Randolph has joined Eddy Curry in voicing his displeasure towards Knick Coach Isiah Thomas for the limited playing time the two had in the team's loss to Golden State on Sunday night, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Asked if he felt that matching down to the smaller, quicker Warriors was the right move, Randolph said, "Nah, that ain't the right way. The right way - how I know, coaches I had in the NBA and in college - they tell me we don't care how we match up, they gotta match up to us. That's what I learned playing in the NBA and college."

Thomas implied that Randolph was too concerned with getting points in the second half.

Yeah he learned that in the NBA while losing tons of games with the Blazers.

It never stops with these guys. Zach needs to close his mouth and do what the coach says. End of story, whether you like it or not, you do it.

That being said: Isiah has never established a style of play here and instead we are in year 4 of his regime and still mixing and matching line-ups. Can you say contract extension!!!

Nate Mcmillian taught zach that philosophy along with coach Izzo.

If zeke was smart he would get off the bench like Danny Ainge did and let someone else do the coaching. What Zach is saying avery johnson failed to do in the playoff series against G-State and that's why they lost.

Play to your own strengths and by the 4th qtr their post guys would have fouled out of the game giving you the chance to take over the game and win.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Actually what Zach is saying is one of the no.1 problems I have had with Isiah the coach- he lets the other team dictate the style of play to him.

Theres no doubt that thats a huge issue V, I agree with you on that. The problem I have is with Zach constantly opening his mouth. Since he's been here, he's acted like he's coming from a winning organization and that he was a huge reason why that organization was winning.

The reality is, Zach is coming from a place and a roster that got used to losing and they ditched him the second they could to relieve chemistry issues and so that he wouldn't poison the youth of that team.

We are in that horrible position of not having a leader. What Zach is saying is technically correct. But he shouldn't be saying it.

Alternatively put, Isiah plays not to lose rather than to win. We all know (especially football fans... GO GIANTS) that never ever neverevernevereverneverever works as a winning strategy.

Isiah brings in guys that can't speak and can't play, the pr department must be thrilled. Frye as bad as he was at least brought a different look at the backup center position.

I'm confused because how does:

"Nah, that ain't the right way. The right way - how I know, coaches I had in the NBA and in college - they tell me we don't care how we match up, they gotta match up to us. That's what I learned playing in the NBA and college."

I get that he's NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER suppose to say anything remotely negative about the coach or his teammates to the press but does that statement really warrant.
He's proving that he's a JERK at heart.

be interested in seeing all those quotes where Zach is constantly opening his mouth

right as oppossed to the rest of our roster that plays unselfishly and to win

Wow Zach can't play and is apparently illiterate thanks good to know.

I agree Isiah's problems as a coach are two-fold. When it comes to player match-ups substitutions etc. his sub patterns are still atrocious and he's been known to kill momentum with his subs. In game coaching like some have mentioned he coaches not to lose he allows other teams to set the tones and control the tempo. He has no clue how to use time-outs when its end of the game plays unless its a Jamal chuck he has no other way of designing plays which is very scary considering he's an HOF point guard.

That's the point. Zach hasn't earned the right to be talking about how the coach is doing things. Marbs did the same thing. He would come out, argue with the coach, not play D, not get others involved, blame his teammates and then try to criticize the coach. It doesn't work. Isiah needs to target guys that are actually doing today, what he is hoping guys like Zach and Curry will somehow learn how to do.

This was why I chose to bring him up as an example in our discussion the other day. He had Scumbag signs almost from day one being here. There's also different levels of them too. Curry, Zach, Steph are all Scumbags at heart.

He was asked a question people act as though he called a press conference to denounce Isiah. A reporter asked him probably what he thought about Isiah's game plan he responded should he have lied and said yea coach made a good decisions playing GS's tempo?
