Spurs soft? Nah.
The only player who comes off tough is their coach Pop. The rest of their team isn't intimidating at all. They don't give hard fouls and entice brawls or scuffles. Bowen is a dirty scumbag player but that's different. Ginobli is a flopper, TP is a French wannabe rapper who married Eva, Tim Duncan is Fundamental Dopey, they're far from being a tough team
I agree, with everything you said, they are some irritating biatches, but they just go out, execute and win.......
Yep no Brawling(Palace MSG style), throwing HAYMAKERS at opponents, sending in lynch men to do dirty work, no trash talking. They just go out do their thing no matter how boring and theatrical it may be at times and win championships. I'm also sick and tired of hearing fans and commentators talk about how Knicks/Teams back in the day gave hard fouls Yada Yada. Well you know what it was a different era of basketball. More physical play was allowed back then, therefore it created an atmosphere of occasional hostility. David Stern wanted to clean the sport and create a Good Guy image, which is fine I guess.
There is one exception with the Spurs and that was Robert Horry body checking Nash in the WCF last yr but even then there was some acting on that play by Nash. It's another reason I'm not for all this let's punk the sport up by being some dumb ass tough guy because we can't be man enough to let the game decide who's best. Horry decided to do that of his own volition, although throughout his career he's never been known as a hit man, dirty guy. What happened? It cost the Suns a shot at the title. Some may say well that got the Spurs to the Finals. That's not the point. This mentality of retaliating, or being tough when you're not is Busch League. It gimmicks the sport and stunts the integrity of it.
Overall the Spurs are a world class organization, who don't trash talk, retaliate, have high character players, who win, and other franchises hope to emulate their success. I also don't see teams bad mouthing the Spurs when they play them. You know why? Teams respect them because they've earned the respect with their play. On the other hand we haven't earned any respect and have the nerve at certain times of the yr to gloat and front run. Seriously if I was an opponent playing against our team, there's no way I could respect them when I see the players dropping F-BOMBS to their coach and ****ting on HOF coaches in the process.
You could even say the Dynasty Lakers with Kobe and Shaq went out and handled there business without all the extra hoopla. Fox and Christie had there beef but that was it. The Lakers never had to resort to enforcer type situations to get respect, they earned it with their play. As usual with our team we have Drama on and off the court and always play the pity/victimized role in these situations. If it isn't the Celtics, it the Nuggets, If it isn't the Nuggets, it the fans, If it isn't the fans, it's the League.
