Now of course we have those of us who feel we'll never rebuild although many from this crowd backed I SAY UGH'S statements 2yrs ago when he said he was rebuilding and injecting youth into this franchise. I could be wrong but I thought I recalled him even using a phrase this yr such as "We may have to start from the ground up again". With that being said when K.G., Kobe, J.O. etc, etc, etc were available this summer I SAY UGH said specifically during the Kobe rumors "Curry was Untouchable" reasoning Kobe would want to play with Curry. I assume he took the same stand on trading for K.G., although from the rumors gathered this summer we never really made an official offer for K.G. Now I SAY UGH is sobbing like a girl.....
Isiah Thomas: We need a Kevin Garnett

BY FRANK ISOLA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Tuesday, January 22nd 2008, 4:00 AM

For months, Isiah Thomas refused to acknowledge that he was upset when Kevin Garnett was traded to Boston.

Monday, he couldn't hide his emotions.

When asked to compare his philosophy of rebuilding to that of the Celtics, Thomas said: "(Bleep), they got Kevin Garnett. Their record was ours last year at this time."

Thomas was laughing as he spoke, which is usually a dead giveaway when he's trying to hide his feelings. When the reporter tried to follow up with another question, Thomas said: "It's a Celtic trade ... I have to wait for (Joe) Dumars." Thomas was referring to Timberwolves GM Kevin McHale and Boston GM Danny Ainge - two former Celtics teammates - orchestrating the Garnett deal. Dumars, the Detroit GM, was Thomas' teammate with the Pistons.

Thomas, who tried for three years to acquire Garnett, traded for power forward Zach Randolph on draft night. Yesterday, Randolph had 24 points and 15 rebounds while Garnett finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

LOL @ his bitterness. BTW the Pistons don't have a K.G. moron.

Now my curiosity has me thinking If I SAY UGH feels we need a K.G. 2yrs removed from trading for Curry giving up 2 lottery picks in the process, how do we acquire a K.G.? He tried to find his K.G. via trade twice and it hasn't worked. What players out there besides Duncan fit K.G.'s profile? There's only 3 players I feel fit after Duncan and it's a stretch, that's Brand, J.O., and Amare. J.O. and Brand are damaged goods so scratch them at this point. Bird is a former Celtic who's a GM and fired I SAY UGH.... hmmmm would a deal ever transpire between them? Brand and J.O. values are low in respect to what their teams would want for them, so I see both teams waiting until they can get back on the court and prove their health/productivity. But if healthy does anyone think we can put an offer on the table for either of those these players, in which we satisfy the other team's wants & needs? Would we want to? Now getting Amare would be nice but he doesn't quite fit, nor would he solve our issues. We need a K.G. it's very apparent but more importantly we need a player that will have an impact on a team such as K.G. and it doesn't have to be a Big. The only way we do that is to find such player via draft, in the up and coming yrs. Time for I SAY UGH to go back to rebuilding like he said he was dong 2yrs ago except do it right this time.

Didn't even see it. We were drumming up our posts at the same time. Amare solves none of our problems besides allowing us to possibly be a more uptempo team. The Suns are about a .500 team with Nash missing and their roster is still better than ours when so. So where's Amare's value in terms of Wins? It's hard to judge honestly. Keep in mind the Suns work because of Nash. Even when Steph was running the show while Amare and Marion were there the Suns had a ceiling, it wasn't high. We don't have a Nash. If we got to the table to offer a trade who do we put on it, that satisfies PHX and Kerr's appetite?

Lee, Malik, Jamal, #1 pick....

actually the suns probably don't need anything the knicks have, but I was thinking memphis. check out the tread i have here..

as far as amare, he is still very young and would upgrade our frontcourt tenfold.... that is a good starting point..... especially in the east..

The initial idea of Isiah was correct (I feel strane by saying this).
NY Knicks can be rebuilt only around PG. Elite PG.
It doesn’t matter using trade or draft.
This should be the starting point... again.
But somebody needs to do it right this time. And this is not Isiah.
NY needs THE MAN to take the pressure and lead the team on the court and off the court.
We need great PG...

Isiah is diluted. The C's already had a perennial All Star in Pierce, got another in Ray Allen, and also acquired KG. Yes, they got KG because they GMs are boys, but they also gave up Al Jefferson, who is better value than anyone else on the Knicks. What a joke... I'm sure Dolan buys these lines though.

Exactly if he's not going to get K.G. via the draft then he better find him a Pierce and an Allen first. If the Allen deal didn't take place K.G. wouldn't be a Celtic. Superstars aren't stupid especially the unselfish ones.

There are actually three talented PGs in this year's draft outside of Derrick Rose.

Jerryd Baylesss is a shoot first point with a lot of potential, so I say pass (even though he's the most talented of the three).

I watched DJ Augustin play last night and he reminds me of another Texas product in TJ Ford, but not as good... he'll probably still be an assist machine in the pros though.

Darren Collison of UCLA is a great two-way point... and actually the guy I want most of the bunch.

But we'll see what happens around the conference tournaments and the NCAA... but there are point guards available in this years draft (thank God).

He sure is, but he's not a point. Taking Gordon and making Crawford the full-time point may be the best strategy, because Gordon's lack of size doesn't hurt as much then. I like Gordon more than I do Jordan, but if the Knicks could pick up a mid-first and get Jordan and Collison, I'd be all for it.

Boston did giv up a lot for KG though- Telfair, Gomes, Jefferson , Green, pluas two number ones - so thats like 6 1st round picks and Theo an 11 million dollar expiring pick. Anyway - I think half the league was trying to get KG -particularly the Lakers and Phoenix.

I think Phoenix offered Amare in the deal but I guess it wasn't enough?

The draft - there really is no one out there like a Duncan, Le Bron- where you could really say - man - this guy is going to come in and be someone i this league for years. Maybe -we get lucky and get a dwayne wade for our own.

While that may be true there isn't anyone right now we can trade for who fits the bill nor do we have the assets to get it done. Since we currently own our pick and next yr's possibly why not focus our interest there and try our best to find such a player.

Didn't Isiah trade for Eddy Curry? What did Isiah call him, "a once in a generation type talent"? And didn't he trade away 2 lottery picks for him?

Hey *******, maybe if you didn't manage your assets like you were playing monopoly, you too would have the chance to make those kinds of trades.

The T-Wolves got back a 23 yr old, 20 and 12 stud to build around plus they got back their lottery pick this year (very possibly the #1 pick overall) along with good role players, Boston's #1 pick next year and a ton of cap space.

The funny thing is, there isn't any combination of players on the Knicks that I would take over Al Jefferson alone. 4 1/2 years of Isiah later and they still don't have enough to get Al Jefferson much less Kevin Garnett. But this idiot thinks it was about 2 former Celtics.

I agree that the aspect of KG most needed is his leadership. I would agree that a PG with those kinds of credentials should be high on the list. If there all off the board when we pick then we go for a SG or SF, with leadership skills. Of course we're looking for complete players. Guys that get it done at both ends.

When you look at so many of our losses there are those critical times in each game when we need someone to lead and it's so obvious that we just don't have that. If Dolan sticks with Isiah, I think he could make the right choice in that situation. I think he's fully aware of the fact that we have no leader and how important that is going forward. I don't think we'll see anymore Balkman or Chandler type picks. This one would be a consensus, bonafide stud with no trickery involved.

Do you really think Isiah can coexist with bonafide leader?
I don't believe IT can share the fame and as the result the blame.
He is all-alone; and will be all-alone all his professional life (which looks to be cut short soon and deserving so).

I don't know if Dolan will stick with Isiah and allow him to run the draft, but if he did, I do thin Isiah would make a good pick. It's not like previous years where he could play around with the pick and take chances since it wasn't a high pick. This time the choices will be more clear cut and he has less of an incentive to try to look clever. I think Isiah and his staff have an eye for talent and NOTHING in his drafting resume would say otherwise.

You seem to be suggesting that he wouldn't want a floor leader to make his job easier, but I think he would welcome a player that could shine and make him look good. It only takes the pressure off of his neck if we add a stud who doesn't require a lot of coaching to excel. He'd be lauded for picking a stud the likes of a CP3, B Roy or Deron.

Let's be serious. If it happens it will definitely be the other way around.

Dumars: Come on Zeke, you help out everyone else, how about doing something for your old team?

Isiah: I know Joe. Ok, what do you want? How about Sheed for Lee, Balkman, Rose, Chandler and this years #1 pick, unprotected of course.
