Likely to visit NY in March (if I can get the go ahead at work)

Any clothing stores, restaurants, shoe stores, music stores, videogame stores recommendations?

Getting a ticket to the knicks shouldn't be a problem, if all else fails I'll just go to stubhub

When in March are you coming and how long?

March is still cold but St. Patties parade is in the middle of the month somewhere.

Hawaiian Tropic Zone is a must for food and drinks...I pass this place to and from work every day and they have to hottest waitresses donning full Bikini's...I have never been there mind you but I'm planning a trip...You can check out their website, they have a few live feeds from the bar and restaurant...

I've actually heard from a few very reputable sources that this place is a little disappointing.

Amazingly enough it's a David Burke place so the food should be somewhat decent.

knicksbabyyeah, what kinda stuff do you like so people can make recommendations tailored to them? And what about cost? Give us some parameters.

For Italian Food I recommend "The Olive Garden" because otherwise the italian joints around town suck.
I'd also recommend that you spend most of your time in the Times Square area, as that is the only safe place for tourists.
Stay off the subways - they are dirty and smelly.

Not a big fan of Scores. Too much attitude. Too money hungry, even more than most.

They aren't "strippers". They're exotic dancers.

If you like Pizza, go to V&Ts on Amsterdam avenue between W110th and 111th. Across the street is the world's largest gothic cathedral and it's cool as hell. They have freaking peacocks walking around that place. Actually, I don't know if they still do, but they DID.

YO! You're talkin bout my ol joint! I used to live on 111th between Amsterdam and Broadway. Spent a lotta time at that Cathedral!
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I used to live over there too. Those peacocks are some scary ass creatures. They like to lay in the trees and on the roofs. They say they can't fly.....but those mofos can glide pretty far......also they say they don't attack? That is bull**** cuz I got chased outta there twice by a peacock. They are some fast animals too. Not far enough for a scared nitwit like myself. One more think......they do escape.....all the time. I was shooting around in one of the court in the projects and one ran past me. I nearly shat myself. It was on 102nd and columbus. They are supposed to be on 110th and amsterdam!

There's a million stores- most of the big names here you can find elsewhere. I'd go downtown, around union square and the east village and check out the specialty scores. Used recrods and all the weird stuff- that's the stuff that's hard to find anywhere but NYC.

On restaraunts, what are you looking to spend, and what are you looking for? For the quintessintial NY experience on more of a budget, I'd make sure you hit up Gray's Papaya or Papaya King, Katz Deli, Joe's Pizza on Bleecker and a few more pizza spots, Shake Shack, Burger Joint, Mamoun's...

Get to Shake Shack early, around 11am, or you'll be waiting on a really long line.

Or go on a Saturday after 2:30. In between lunch and dinner is usually not so bad, though a strange time to eat.

Is Grays Papaya the same thing as Mike's Papaya?
