It is a legitimate injury. However, it's the kind of injury you can play through -- and in fact most players do play through it and get it taken care of during the offseason. The fact that Marbury is getting it taken care of during the season is selfishness and seems to be financially motivated.

Kinda funny but a little true. From what I know, (maybe nysportsfan11 can correct me if i'm wrong) Layden had laid the groundwork but wouldn't pull the trigger. Mills got wind of this and convinced Dolan to axe Layden and bring in someone who would be willing to give up the "assets" we had.

Stephon Marbury's anticipated MRI today on his left ankle seems to be anticipated by everyone but Marbury. The Knicks' point guard said Wednesday night that he doesn't expect the re-evaluation to change his opinion that he needs surgery to remove a fractured bone spur.

"I'm going to hear from them what I already know," Marbury said. "My foot is messed up."

Asked if surgery is automatic in his mind, Marbury said, "I have pain when I'm running up and down the court. I need surgery. I don't understand." Marbury said he would schedule the surgery immediately after seeing orthopedic surgeon Dr. William Hamilton, a consultant to the Knicks, for the second time.

Marbury also revealed Wednesday night a previously undisclosed X-ray on the ankle that was performed Friday night after the Toronto game. Asked if the injury is too painful to play through and delay surgery until after the season, Marbury said, "I have no comment on that."

Look - wxcpet for most die hard fans (bless them) - everyone knew that the Knicks roster had to e blown up- at best we had ONE player (McDyess) who has proven he can STILL play legitmately in the NBA (don't bring up K.Thomas- because he is a 'veteran' in seattle and was not sufficient for Phoenix.

The point is - Marbury being brought to NY -to create a few years of excitement is not a confabulation but unfortunately how the world works.
