“I guess he’s going to find some more bone spurs. It’s been bothering me for a while. A lot of guys have bone spurs in their knees and ankles; It’s just how much you can tolerate," said Marbury, who played through bone spurs the entire 2002-03 season rather than have surgery, but won’t do it now.

“(If they’re there) I’ll have to get them taken out," Marbury said. “If the doctor says I have bone spurs in my ankle and he says I need surgery, I’m going to get it taken care of. I’m not going to wait or hesitate."

so this seals it right? Marbury has no interest in helping team or others on his team. Just looking out for #1.

Is it true that you can't trade someone on Injured Reserve?

How many other Knicks are going to choose to do elective surgery instead of being around this mess? I bet a few more go looking for doctors after the trade deadline.

Whew, that's a relief.

That's fine. He's a hindrance anyway. Maybe, just maybe the Knicks can use this time of losing to develop the PG skills of Crawford, Robinson and Collins. Marbury's a goner in the offseason anyway.

Ok so he already said he was leaving once his contract was up to go play in Italy.......so now he wants to have bone spur surgery? So that means Isiah can't even trade him now if he wanted to......

Buy him out and start Nate cuz the dude is more than ready to "fill in" the majestic 13pts, 4 assists Marbury was putting up.

No way this guy was born and raised in Brooklyn.

This is just the kind of thing that might get the Knicks winning just enough to miss a top 5 pick.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

him not being here & not playing is helping this team in his own way... i'm glad he's finally had enough & given up on trying to make it work in NY... it was doomed from the very beginning but it took actually seeing him here to actually get it for some of us like myself... hope that ankle feels better Steph... thanks for nothing & have a good life.

He does have bone spurs but he could play through them the same way he always has. He's just being a punk. He went a whole year in '02 with them and was just fine. This is a guy who used to take pride in his durability and play through anything. He's had foot problems his whole life, just like anyone else who's taken a pounding on asphalt every day coming up playing ball in the playground.

The issue now is he wants to be back on the court by the start of next season because, you guessed it, it'll be a contract year. He's not slick. Like he's been telling everyone...he knows he's done with the Knicks. It's just an F-U on the way out. This cat was up in the locker room watching tv during the game. Him and Isiah were made for each other. The wrong Marbury made the L. It should have been Norm or Eric. Both had more heart in their thumbs than Steph ever had.

Actually Steph indirectly sad: "Isiah - you are f...ed up big time"
The question is if Dolan can read between the lines?

Here's what I don't get. Isiah did Marbury a HUGE favor by bringing him to the Knicks. And then rotating 3 or more coaches out the door cause he didn't like them. Turned over the roster to get players he thought Marbury would like and shoved out players that got in his way. Helped him get on the Olympic team.

This can't all be over the LA Clip non-start can it? What went wrong?

When Marbury first came here he was allowed to be Starbury and that took us to the playoffs.

Isiah then made too many trades and Marbury for whatever reason was asked to sacrifice his game. Bringing in Crawful finalized the fact that Crawful would be the gunner and eventually even the primary ballhandler (why, I have no idea...) and Marbury would be phased out and turned into Eric Snow.

It's really mind boggling that this is what transpired but it did.

Charles Oakley said it best a couple of years ago while taking in a game at the Garden the year after we got swept by the Nets in the playoffs "You have to bring in players that will play with Steph and not fight Steph."

Oakley plainly saw that Isiah was bringing in more gunners and ball dominant players and that was NOT the way to reap the reward of a player like Marbury.

I'm done with Marbury, I'm not going to sit here and pretend we'd have gone places if we stuck with that game plan when he first came here, but I think it's indisputable we would have been a much better team and probably in the playoffs each year if we kept things as was: Marbury dominating, and role players like Kurt, KVH, Doleac, Deke doing the dirty work and getting theirs when it came.

But NOOOOOOOOO Isiah had to be like a kid on NBA LIVE and it screwed everything up.

I mean, we're watching part two right now: Zach Randolph has destroyed what Eddy Curry was brought here to do. We were playing .500 ball with Eddy being force fed and this year I see no reason why - without trading for Randolph - we could not have been a .500 team THIS year. Again, not really going places, but - definitely looking a LOT BETTER.

Isiah Thomas is to blame and why he destroyed the career of his coveted franchise PG is beyond logic.

Marbury is a baby, no doubt, and he's done here, but Isiah had a big hand in that with his STUPID constant trading for gunner after gunner and his STUPID idea that he could turn Marbury into an Eric Snow on Roids. ISIAH THOMAS IS A FUCKING DUMBASS.

Nothing else needs to be said.....

Why should anyone play through severe pain to help a team reach 25 wins? If he's in pain, I won't blame him for having surgery. I think anyone would.

Stephon Marbury Out Three Days

Knicks Captain Stephon Marbury went to see specialist Dr. William Hamilton in Manhattan today after practice regarding his sore left ankle. There was inflammation around a chronically fractured bone spur. Dr. Hamilton recommended he wear a walking boot to rest his ankle for the next three days and then he will be re-evaluated with an MRI.

To see if he is really willing to sit out, i would offer to buy him out now for $15m. If he is serious to sit out, he gets $$ for doing nothing. If not, he shows everyone his true colors. IN the end, the Knicks are better off without him.
