“Actually, they were 1a and 1b on the board,” Thomas said. “The only reason why we didn’t take Bynum was because of his age and because of New York and our crowd and everything else. I didn’t think that the two years he would need to develop here, I just thought it would be too tough on a 17-year-old, having to go through two years of whatever he would have to go through here in New York, so we went with the senior and the four years of experience as opposed to the two-year wait period. After the two-year beat down here in New York, I didn’t know if he would have enough to come back out of it.”

Again, it's the Knicks fans fault that Bynum wasn't taken by Isiah.

And since the James and Curry moves were made because we still had no center, those moves can be blamed on Knicks fans as well.

It's all your fault, I hope you're all happy at the situation you've put the Knicks into.

isiah at a season ticketholder q&a 1 month after the 200f draft was asked the same question. he said 'because frye is ready to contribute right away.'

So much spin from Isiah i got dizzy.

That statement just shows how out of touch he is to how NY Basketball fans think. If we had GM who told us the truth and stopped lying and said that he was drafting a 17 year old and it would take 2-3 years to see him play consistent minutes. 99% of fans would be fine with that. NY'ers aren't dumb. And Isiah treats us like we are dumb sheep. And tries to fool us into thinking his way.

What a ****ing loser. This shows why this douche will never rebuild. He thinks he's rebuilding now and everyone hates the team meanwhile rebuilding is actually having young players playing the right way and being under the cap and having a future, not this crap. I hope someone beats him for saying such stupidity.

Well, that's the **** that make Isiah intolerable. He drafts players that can "contribute" immediately, yet--according to this con artist--somehow this team is in a good position despite its record?

Why would someone draft a player to contribute immediately when the team is/was terrible? Why move Kurt Thomas to essentially get younger (as well as placate Marbury) if you aren't going to grab the best young player available?

I'm shocked that was the reason Isiah didn't take Bynum. I thought he would say something like Drafting Bynum would eventually hinder a deal for Kobe.

When you add Dolan's mandate with Isiah's cluelessness. Mix it together, this is what you get.

Isiah is right though. New York probably would have been to tough a place for Bynum. It wouldn't have been because of the fans though. It would have been due to managment, and the culture here. Bynum would have lofty expectations to be Shaq every yr. Or a franchise player which he isn't. He doesn't have a dominant personality and seems quiet and shy. He would have no leadership around him, no veteran big he could look up to, respect, teach him how to be a professional. He would be surrounded by guards who don't have a good understanding of basketball. No franchise player. He would be under a managment group that doesn't have a good understanding on how to be professionals. From the age of 17 to 19or20 (what ever he is now), his basketball growth would be under straight failure and selfishness.

Bynum is from the area so it would have definitely suppressed his development and the Knicks would definitely have suppressed his development because Bynum would basically be working with Agguire and not Jabbar that right there folks is a big difference in learning. Someone should ask Isiah why is Bynum getting toutoring from one of the greatest centers of all time and Curry is well getting trained by a good small forward.

the irony is the win now move (frye) set us back- where we'd be a lot better right now if we had taken the longer term move.

I doubt we would have lost more games if we had taken Bynum, not gone with Curry/James, and kept KT or signed some bum out of the NBDL to play center.

So Isiah admits that his management style is very short sighted but he constantly preaches for patience while telling us how great things currently are.

the league needs to have a major strike which results in a hard cap. otherwise expect this downward trend in the quality of the league.

And even if we did lose more we'd have our lottery picks from 2006 and 2007 so who cares. And didn't the draft of Bynum's class occur well before we acquired James and Curry? He had no idea he'd get James or Curry. Matter of fact he said the Knicks were very fortunate to get Curry after they'd already signed James. And if he reasoned signing another center was necessary after James why not draft Bynum and roll the dice on landing the off-season acquisitions?

They was kiss his a*s when he got all that money for them.This is no excuse for not being a competitor. Curry was a big mistake by Zeke and we can't change it. If the rest of the season keeps going like this lets just go to the lottery it's the only way we are going to get a franchise player. I still question the people Zeke have training Curry. Curry needs to go. Everyone is still making those corner 3s on us with no defense. I just don't want another coach coming in here and we win 33 games and it knocks us out of getting a top draft pick.
We need to end the over the cap crap. If a team wants to spend more money to get a player then let the team do thier thing. To hell with those small markets we are protecting. Let's be like the Baseball league if the Knicks wants to spend let us spend.

he made alot of players alot of money and they basically just tuned him out. in that respect, it's on the players. but he also lost them with his shenanigans with marbury. so that's on isiah. everyone is to blame and i would say 90% or more of the current roster/coaches/gm/front office have to go. but nothing happens until isiah is gone first.

I'm glad Isiah is such a good judge of character, and has spared us the wimpy Bynum types and endowed us with such mentally strong players as Marbury, TT, MoT, Frye, Curry, James, Francis, etc.
