Curry, 25, has long been regarded as a weak defender and rebounder. But Thomas has been his staunchest promoter since acquiring him from Chicago two years ago. Now Thomas seems resigned to the idea that Curry may never realize his potential.

Thomas rarely talks about his players’ weaknesses, which made his sudden burst of candor a bit surprising.

Asked about Curry’s strength, Thomas said: “Scores. Scores well. He may not ever be a great defender or a great rebounder. But he’s a great scorer, and we’re going to use that.”

Curry did not seem to take offense to Thomas’s comments, or to the benching, but he insisted he could still become a complete player.

“I’ve got to always believe that I can be better than what I am,” he said. “And that goes for the defensive end of the ball, too. I’m athletic enough to impact the game at both sides. It’s just a matter of going out and getting it done.”

Isiah is a jackass. He is a waste of life. He destroyed the franchise and made big statements like "I'd take Curry over anyone in the draft" and "I'd make the trade over again if I had to." Too bad James Dolan is our owner or else Isiah would have taken the fll for his latest blunder in a long line of disgraceful moves.

If Isiah were managing in any place other than NY he would have been fired a season or two ago.

Therfe was a game earlier this year where Curry made a key defensive stop blocking a shot and grabbed two big rebounds...The Knicks won and after the game they interviewed Curry about his heroics on the defensive end..He was upset that people was making a big deal about it...he really seemed upset when reporters asked him if this is a new Curry on the defensive end...the kid doesn't want to play D or rebound...

There's more
In proclaiming that Curry will never be anything more than a scorer, Thomas only highlighted the fact that he surrendered two lottery picks to the Bulls for a one-dimensional player.

"He's still young enough to get there, but he's not there yet," Thomas said. "Until he gets there, I'm going to use what he has. He has great low-post scoring ability, and we're going to ride it and use it."

Thomas' comments about Curry's rebounding and defense also contradicted the need for Curry to find ways to have an impact. "Right now, we'll find somebody else to do the things that he can't do," Thomas said, "and the things that he can do, we'll make sure that he does them really well."

if he's planning on using Curry's low post scoring ability to our advantage, then he's doing damn lousy job of it

This fat sack of crap desecrates the Knick uniform every time he puts it on.

Hey, a number of us pondered how Zacurry would work and a number of us referred to FranBury and thought there was a chance Zach could dominate and Curry would disappear.

Well, he's disappeared and now he's POUTING. Hey, try getting into shape you fat sack of crap!

Anyways....some Curry comments recently on why he SUCKS:

From last night:

Gus: Eddy What's going on with you?

Eddy: You know I'm kinda having a problem adjusting to playing with Zach. We catch the ball on the same spot on the floor. Since I'm not getting as many touches as last year I'm pressing now I'm getting the ball and feel I have to do something with it immediately. I'm missing layups I'm missing point blank shots. Channing was here last year and he played on the elbow. I could get the ball on the box and I could do a number of different things. It's a different story right now and Zach and I are trying to figure out how to play together.

Then, From a week or so ago:

Curry: I get touches but it seems like there's always somebody around me when I get the ball. I'm the kind of player who relies on his teammates to get me the ball and once I get the ball I need a little bit of room to work. Right now I just don't have any room.

i find that funny, Curry keeps saying that him and Randolph are having a tough time when Randolph looks comfortable out there.

yup. Randolph can do other things besides posting up. if he can't get anything inside he can shoot from the free throw line, and he hits the glass and rebounds. curry doesn't do any of that. randolph is a better FT shooter, a better passer out of double teams(still not very good though), and overall just plays harder.

what makes the zach trade so good is that he is just better than curry.

I can't fault zeke for that.

But if nobody wants curry, then we have to keep him, but its obvious (atleast to me) that curry and Marbury can be gone and we will have equal wins

What do the knicks need?

Passion.

Could have used marbs last night though.

Curry is shocking me.

Send marbs to Boston and curry to Miami and start lee, jefferies, zach, Crawford and jones.

If Miami gives up jwill all the better.

Zbo has shown me enough last night to hitch my wagon to his star.

Send curry packing for a collection of role players and picks.

Zach is the real deal

If Curry isn't being fed the ball 15-20 times a game, what does he provide? Why couldn't the coach see that until now? Too much optimism? Blind support?
I just hope that people will like me

Isiah needs his head examined because its his fault that Curry isn't performing on a higher level. He should have brought in Pat Ewing to work with him and instill greatness in him. Instead he has a 6'6'' sf teaching him big man moves great. Bynum is working with Jabbar, Howard is working with Ewing, Yoa worked with Ewing and Hakeem, Hakeem worked with Moses, who the hell has Eddy Curry worked with , Mark Freaking Agguire a 6'6'' sf.

Isiah get you head out of your azz and get your big man a teacher. Pat Ewing would not have allowed Eddy to go down this road all alone.

it was easy to predict Curry's regression as soon as that Zach trade happened... how the hell can Isiah not see that one coming from a mile away? if he had such a hardon for Zach, then the immediate next move should've been to seek a trade for Curry in the offseason while he still had significant trade value to get a player to complement Zach's game... now he's got Curry playing w/absolutely no confidence at all, unsure of his role, & where he's gonna get off his shots, & riding pine during almost the entire 2nd half of games.

while this is mainly on Curry to get in shape & demand the ball more when he's on the floor, Isiah should have known his player & his personality before he ever made this trade for Zach to begin with.

I told my brother and father this two games into the season where Eddy was getting doubled and Zach's man was 5 feet away on the other block.

To be honest, I don't get Eddy's quotes. Curry was routinely double/triple teamed last year. The idea was supposed to be that they couldn't double Zach and Eddy at the same time, and I think that's mostly true.

I think Eddy does have more room than last year, just less touches. And if defenses really are switching back and forth on him and Zach then pass the damn ball. The ball moves faster than a defender, so move the ball and get each other layups.

Eddy is just another guy whining that he needs a system customized for him to be successful. We need guys who can just play and make systems work.

I have no qualms with criticizing Isiah, heck I do it too, but was it really necessary to use use homophobic language to do so?

Will we ever get beyond the use of "gay" "f****t," etc, to insult people? Why such a need to resort to it?

I'm still can't agree with this notion that Curry's problems have to do with Zach being here. They can play on the same team and even on the floor together. There was always going to be a lot of time when they wouldn't be out there together. The problem is that we rarely play the right way in order to make it work with the 2 of them. Whenever we move the ball like we did tonight the 2 of them work just fine.

Curry isn't getting the ball at times when it should be delivered and since he's mentally weak, he loses any desire to play hard. That's when you see his shots being blocked, TO's and offensive fouls. When our guards are playing the right way and the ball is moving this team can be competitive.

In the Nets game I saw things I haven't seen during this losing streak. Quicker ball movement and we actually saw BALL FAKES from the guards!!! They had been just standing still and telegraphing post feeds. We still don't know how to space the floor at times, but when we did tonight, it led to open shots. We actually saw the team reverse the ball which is amazing. Why they haven't done these things we all know, has to do with not having fundamentally sound guards, but they can learn if Isiah coaches it hard enough and insists on execution.
