Seriously how can Stern look himself in the face on this issue. It's a Mockery

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/49702/20071213/kg_leads_all_players_in_first_all_star_voting_returns/

Erica Dampier has more votes than Camby, Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge by a WIDE MARGIN

Deron Williams & Kevin Martin are AWOL from the WC guards top votes list meanwhile Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse have over 100,000 votes ROTFLMBAO.

Luis Scola has more votes than Grant Hill and Rudy Gay is AWOL from top votes list along with Stephen Jackson, Ron Artest

E-Titties is barely beating ZaZa Pachulia with like 19,000 votes LOL @ E-Titties

Hedo Turkeyglue and Yi are ahead of Caron Butler and Jamison by a WIDE MARGIN

It really is becoming a complete joke.. They need to minimize it to like 1 player on each side

It should be reversed. Voting should be done by the media and coaches. Once the top votes are tallied then have the fans vote for a starting line-up that should be the only allowance afforded to fans. I'm sick of tired of hearing this game is all about the fans when the quality of this exhibition game has dropped to the depths of the abyss. It's FAR AND WIDE the worst exhibition game out there because of the fans. They also need to put emphasis on winning the game

The point of the all star game is to please the exact crowd that votes like this. People who don't really know basketball and just want to see dunks and 3's. So I don't see anything changing.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

So it's for the Casual and Foreign Fans? I seriously doubt the people who vote actually watch the game vs just casting a vote for their favorite player out of participation to see results. I know these type of fans aren't tuning in for say a Finals game which produces low Nielsen Ratings and a Finals game drawfs an All-Star Crap exhibition game by the millionfolds in terms of viewing. So what's Stern's goal to satisfy a Casual, Foreign, and Famous Entertainer fans for a night? He should be appealing to the masses. Online voting is comical at best. I have access to 350 computers daily and could times that by 4 if chose to roam from site to site where I work not to mention you can also clear Internet caches, use several different Browsers, Reassign Static IP adresses to a network adapter and boot from multiple OS(Mac 9.2, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5) and vote like 5-10 times simultaneously on 1 computer within a span of 10-15min.

Eh, it'd be one thing if guys like Dampier were winning starting spots, but as of now the teams would be:

EAST:

KG
LeBron
D.Howard
Kidd
Wade

WEST:

Melo
Dirk
Yao
Kobe
T-Mac

It's not like this is the biggest outrage of all time. Although, I don't mind the idea of letting the coaches and media pick the team and letting the fans pick the starters after that. That'd probably be better.

u'd get plenty of dunking & 3's no matter who's selected... it makes sense to reward players for actual achievement & not just on popularity.

They have a Allstar team for the fans at the season half way point and all Nba-teams for accolades from the League. It's not an issue to anybody with half a brain.....

LOL... OK Anji, have fun watching the Allstar game w/Yi Jianlian & Erik Dampier starting... some of us with the half brains would much rather watch players who actualy deserve to be lauded for their half season's performance.

Bro, I think TrueBlue got you mixed up with his post. Yao has 4 times as many votes as Dampier. KG has more than 7 times as many votes as Yi. And LeBron has more than 5 times as many votes as Yi. Dampier and Yi are not going to be all-stars.

Did you read what evil posted???? No matter who votes you'll disagree about one or two, but the best players in the league play in the all star game. It's a non-issue.

Right, but TMS obviously thought that Dampier and Yi were leading their categories otherwise I doubt he would have responded to Anji the way that he did. Not saying you actually tried to mix him up.

sorry if i misread it, but i still hate fan voting to decide the Allstars... when Shaq gets voted in to start when he's only played in 10 games some years while someone who's been having a career season & is outperforming almost every other C in the league gets the shaft, it bothers me... if it's an non-issue for you, i'm happy for ya.

Full agreement. The All-Star voting is ridiculous. I understand it's a fan event and the most popular players get to play, but there has to be checks and balances. Especially with internet voting, the fan voting has become an absolute joke, since ballots can be "stuffed" easier now.
