"I put a lot of vicious poundings on opposing teams that I think opposing coaches didn’t like, because I would really try to take a guy’s heart. In taking a guy’s heart, you get real nasty in doing that. I got nasty every night and I don’t think that coaches really liked the fact that I got that nasty. My mode was not to just beat you but to destroy you."

If only he could teach Curry to be this mean, we would really win a championship. Thats not hyperbole.

I don't know if that type of passion can be taught.

It can't be taught. You can help some players improve their tenacity but you can't convert a player. Especially when that player's demeanor is at the entire other end of the spectrum. If Curry had an occasional mean streak then yes you can try to tap into that and bring it out further. If you're not mean at all you can't just install a mean streak into someone.

I think that's the difference right there. If someone is somewhat like you then you can influence them to be more like you. If someone is nothing like you no matter what you do they won't ever begin to emulate you.

Man, imagine if Curry had that attitude? I really don't know how you get that across to a player, I guess you can't. Where's the Oak-man?

Tell Curry the ball resembles a double cheeseburger and you will see a presence.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

mark aguirre was a special player. He was fierce and played that way.. that can't be taught.. curry wanted to be a ballarina, I mean gymnist when he was young.. I shook hands with him after the hawks game last year.. they were softer than my 5 year old daughters hands.. He is a nice guy. Not a mean bone in his body, and that is part of his problem, actually, that is his problem..

You can teach that type of aggression. Curry never got beat up as a kid. Its not just Curry but half the league. Players coming up are prep stars and never played real streetball. Never had that one guy, or group of guys that just punished you everytime you stepped on the court.

Micheal Jordan talked about his brother and how his bro used to beat him down until MJ got tough enough to beat him.

Guys don't respect the game anymore.

Question? What is the difference between Carmelo Anthony and Bernard King? Carmelo is a princess that's what. Carmelo has yet to get better. He doesn't have that mental focus, that murders complex that Bernard had. Thing is Carmelo is a wanna be thug. He is a ****y fag. Bernard King was born and raised in the projects in brooklyn. The are he lived is bad as all hell, but meeting Bernard and hearing him talk you would never know. On the court? Bernard was a psychotic killer. He wanted to destroy. He was locked in and focused.

Back to aguirre......he was a angry player. He played on the edge of mahem. Just ask Pippen. Pippen thought he could step to aguirre and almost got whooped in the parking lot after the game. The focus and will to win was enormous.......all the guys back in the day.....bird, english, gervin, doctor J......even guys like kelly tripuka.....guys were just locked in and straight up ballers.

Where is that today? You see it in Ray allen, KG, nash, duncan, shaq,......its just an honorable respect for the game.

Its ****ing beautiful!

The Knicks don't have one player.....not one. No not even David Lee....playing hard is one thing but that wasn't something anybody worried about back in the days in the nba.

No love in the game. No respect for the game.

Shaq used to talk about shogun status. He said Curry is good but he had a while to go before he reached shogun status. Not many shoguns out there man.......robert "bench player all his life" horry was a shogun. Mario elie. Charles Oakley. Even guys like john paxson, bj armstrong, and steve kerr......

Kill or be killed muthafuka.....ice in your veins and piss liquid nitrogen.

Where is that? Bruce bowen, even brent barry......derek fisher.....

New guys? Deron is showing it. Kid be locked in and focused playing the game.

Lebron? Nope....he's good but he's no killer.

The good old days......where have you gone?

my son was watching the game with me the other night, and he said, "dad, I don't like all these players hugging each other before they play, I mean how can you want to beat another guy you just made out with before the game" LOL.. I was rolling, but that is true, these guys are too nice, you have the whole off season to kiss each others ass, but during and before the game, you are enemies....

enyspree made some good points, guys like bernard were no frills players, didn't care about looking pretty, they played good old project ball. If I am not bleeding it is not a foul. the celtics were physically killing bernard as he scored 40 every game on them in the playoffs. Had they called the games the way they do now, bernard would have averaged 55 and the knicks would have beat the celtics.. LOL....

Hey Eny,

Don't forget Isiah Thomas on your "Killer" list. He was as cold-blooded as they come. He managed to steal 2 while Jordan, Bird, and Magic were prime players.

In fact, all those Bad Boy Pistons were straight-up assassins.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

It's the corporate mindset, let's just entertain and collect our checks and take care of our familes.

Knicks need some cold blooded killers.

When the knicks were winning in the late 90's.....just think of the players the Knicks had.......even big puss allan houston was in pure assasin mode. He gave reggie miller the ass whoopin of his life. It was sad. Houston was eating a guy of reggies calibur like he was playing a nobody on a 10-day contract......latrell was a murderer. Camby owned Mutumbo and the indiana guys inside. No mercy all out domination. LJ couldn't jump like in the past but them boys couldn't handle him. He was running the offense with his back to the basket. Hitting 3's? He was doing his damn thin and he probably shouldn't have. Lion heart. The guys never gave up in that spurs series but couldn't do anything about the twin towers + the grizzled group of vets they had then.

Look at the 94 team......starks was erratic but he was the toughest bastard the knicks have ever had in the backcourt. Straight up warrior. Didn't back down from any of the legends he had to face night in and out. Derek harper was a tough bastard too. Too bad we got him at the end of his career. His defense was great on the ball....and he flipped that phil jackson goon jo jo english for talking ****. Mason and oak were gangsters. Tough sob's that knew what it was to hold down the paint and watch ewings back.

Straight up warriors and killers.

Where have they gone?

its not aggression, its being competitive. EC is playing ball because he's a great athlete and he's 6'11. But he's not very competitive. He doesnt push himself and he's not driven.

You dont have to be aggressive or nasty. I am the most laid back easy going guy. When I pitch however, if your a good hitter and your crowding the plate I will throw at your chin. Not to hurt you or to be an *******, and not because I am nasty. Because I dont want you to beat me and lets face it... you shouldnt be crowding the plate.

EC isnt bothered by people taking away rebounds and dunking on him. If you havent found that drive in year 7 or whatever this is your finding it. Its not a character flaw. I get the feeling EC is a great guy.
