Adamek & Dougherty also reporting the same...

Marbury will return to starting lineup tonight

Stephon Marbury has regained his starting job, Isiah Thomas announced today — one week after Marbury went AWOL after learning he was going to be a backup.

Marbury had come off the bench in the Knicks’ previous three games and Thomas felt he had played well enough to warrant being a starter again. Marbury, however, is still upset about the demotion and when asked about the entire episode, said, “To be honest, not a whole lot of good has come out of this.” Thomas was taken aback when told of Marbury’s comments.

Marbury will start tonight, but he could miss tomorrow’s game at Detroit because of the death of his aunt, Sebastian Telfair’s grandmother.

BOOOO...

Boobury.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Will MSG boo when we hear...

"SteeeeeppphhhhonnnnnnnnnnnMarrrrburrrrrrrry!"

or maybe as they announce his position?

I say we hear somewhere around 50/50 boos to cheers...could be worse, could be just scattered, but louder than those Isiah received to start the season.

We know drama...peep this:

http://knicks.lohudblogs.com/2007/11/20/marbury-gets-to-start/

So we get into the gym this morning after shoot-around, and were met by Stephon Marbury.

He was smiling.

“Yes, I’m starting,” Marbury said.

The lineup change was confirmed by Isiah Thomas about 10 minutes later.

“I think he understands what we want from that position now, ” [Isiah] said. “I think our message and our point has been clear, the leadership that we need from that position, the defense we need from that position.

I think he needed a reminder. I don’t think it’s something he doesn’t know how to do. He definitely knows how to play the position. He has great skill, great talent. We needed to remind him of what we need and expect from that position for us to be successful.”

But wait, there’s more.

The latest controversy got a second wind when Marbury was asked to assess what he’s taking away from this mess.

“To be honest, not a whole lot came of it,” Marbury said. “There’s nothing good coming out of all of what went on, but for myself, being able to weather the storm, to have focus when I went back onto the court was something that was good for myself. And as far as what I had to deal with and as far as my teammates are concerned, I think everyone wants to get this past them and go forward.”

And when he was asked for a reaction to the sentiment, Thomas appeared to be mortified.

He even asked the omnipresent public relations official to confirm that Marbury had actually uttered those words before sidestepping the issue.

“I have to make sure,” Thomas said.
“I don’t know. I think as a player, you never want to be benched. You always want to play. But from a team aspect, I think the things he’ll deliver are exactly what we need. And if he’s not delivering those things again, then the bench awaits him.”

And we also got confirmation that this squabble is personal.

Marbury acknowledged his actions contributed to an 0-4 road trip, but he indicated there was no intention to hurt teammates.

“Of course, it had something to do with it, but this was a personal issue,” he said. “This wasn’t between myself and my teammates. It was between Isiah and myself.”

We don’t know if Marbury will be in Detroit with the Knicks tomorrow. He found out yesterday before practice that his aunt passed away. It sounds like he’s uncomfortable leaving to be with family after what happened last week.

I predict that for the first time since coming to the Knicks, Marbury's name will be announced FIRST so that the announcer can make the boos turn into cheers for the other players, VERY quickly.

Seriously, what the hell did Isiah expect Marbury to learn? He left, with Isiah's permission, he came back and still played 34 minutes after his teammates let Isiah know they didn't want him to play at all, they lose to a bad Kings team and then get their asses kicked against Denver with Marbury playing like he did prior to the benching in the last 3 games.

That earned him his starting spot back and Marbury should have learned something from it? What a joke.

Here's what I learned:

A) In spite of whatever Marbury may think, Isiah still holds the juice card.

B) In spite of whatever Isiah may think, Marbury is kicking the West Side right out of Isiah's azz.

Oh it's a party, the monster's ball.

Marbury is such a cancer. Seriously, send him home for good like Chicago did with Tim Thomas. He needs to be as far away from our young players as possible. He must have some really good dirt on Isiah.

I'd rather buy him out so he can ruin some other team. And also free up a roster spot for a young PG that's gonna play hard like Jared Jordan, Orien Greene or John Lucas. Or hell, Walker Russell!

We'd prolly get more wins with JJ3. Or at least the same #. Interesting , at least for me, to see how the rest of this unfolds.
