"Hello, my name is Earl and I have a problem..."

It's intervention time. Just in time for the holidays. Something Solace posted reminded me of the problem with any addiction. he/she has decided to not watch any more Knicks games. Good for him/her.

For the rest of us it's tough. No matter what, you can't help yourself... you can't turn away or even walk away from something you KNOW is not good for you. The Knicks are a bad habit. They are not good for your health, this much is certain. Especially now. It's a mess and the losses are certain to pile higher than the neigboring Empire State Building. The fans inside The Garden will boo and boo frequently. It won't be pretty.

Here is a suggestion. Why not just simply change habits, go read a book, hugs your kids and get outside to stomp through some fresly fallen leaves?

Or do our arteries run so deeply orange and blue that we can't help ourselves?

There are a lot of good things to rent on Netflix. Or play one of the NBA video games. Perhaps go for NBA2k1 (oldie). That was a good one because it still had Ewing in the game.

Oh, if you need to pass time, get a Wii. The discovery channel is also good for passing time.

They're not worth my time. I've caught a little bit of the games, but I usually watch other teams if I'm watching basketball.

Earl you're the best. Great post.

I'm Ike and am addicted to Knicks basketball, and perhaps it is a disease, but fortunately I have other coping mechanisms to keep me clean when the disease tries to take over. I have a close friend who is an enabler, and can't say I have gone too long being clean in recent memory, although I was able to purge my addiction to the Yankees after they won the WS in 1996...and I still relapse from time to time...so I am just hoping for the same with the Knicks.

I think the only Px for my disease will be a Knick championship.

I don't think I've felt this bad about the team since the brawl with Miami. Ahh the good'ol days.

I will continue to watch them every chance I get. I would only miss games if I'm on vacation, have company over, or on my way out for an evening. I think I miss about 5-7 games a year.

There is the occasional time during a long season if they're getting their brains beaten in that I might turn it off before it's over but that's rare.

Yeah there are other teams to watch. That's the purpose of LP IMO to follow the rest of league. One of the best values around.

Raptors
Magic
Celtics

They say laughing contributes to one's health and the Knicks pathetic play does just that for me in that I get my recommended healthy dose of laughing every week watching them.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

It really is. To me, tonight's game feels like game 1 of round 1 of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. But we'll be advancing in a different way, Isiah's departure to be exact. Its so meaningful.

I'm all hyped up about Isiah's pregame introductions and a 20 point Warriors blowout.

I'm DVRing the first 10 minutes to get the head coach introduction and the last 20 minutes as the fans get really riled up over another blowout loss.
