Just how long is Toronto going to keep this guy playing behind Ford? He's probably the best player in the league hidden on the bench right now. An insane over 6 apg in less than 20 mpg so far this year, and a 3 to 1 A/TO. Plus this guy is an efficient shooter...over 50% FG and a good FT shooter. A smart player who can really pass the ball like that is everything this team needs. Not saying he's the next John Stockton, but this could be a top notch PG in the NBA that just needs an opportunity.

So do we get him? Well Toronto could use some more power scoring down low to pair with Bosh playing high. Is Eddy Curry the guy the need? I don't know, but he could be a good fit there. Would they part with a guy like Calderon and a salary dump to get Curry? It makes some sense given the context of their roster.

I have a hard time seeing Isiah making that trade, but this is a scenario where trading big for small would make so much sense.

it would have to be lee for calderon.

colangelo plan from day 1 was getting major cap room in 2009 to make a splash.

bosh was in place and re-signed. he traded for tj. he drafted bargnani. those 3 are signed long term to play with whomever colangelo is targetting for 2009. he is not going to mess that up taking on major salary, especially in the form of eddy who has no place on that team.

Lee for Calderon? That'd be something I have to think about. Those guys are in similar situations. Both would break out if given a chance to start.

Here's what's most impressive about Ford and Calderon=Forderon is their Ast/TO ratio.

They are averaging 14.2Ast/3.7TO and they do this almost every game. That's just insane efficient production from a back court point guard combo.

I'd much rather look at Kyle Lowry... I was high on him in the draft, and he is actually playing pretty well @ pg this yr

Kyle Lowry is a nice young player- but the point on Calderon is that he's blocked on his current team and he's got an established level of terrific production. You would think Toronto could move him if they got a piece that they are missing, and right now they are light up front.

Calderon really has all the traits you want offensive in a PG- high assist rate, low turnover rate, picks his spots and shoot a high percentage from every where. Those are the traits you immediately think about when talking about some of the great PGs like Stockton or Nash. This is the kind of player that is going to make someone very happy if they can acquire him.

toronto's missing 2 key pieces:

1. a big time phsyical player/rebounder
2. a guy that can create his own shot if the defense clamps down

toronto does not box out and are very poor on the boards. and tj is just too short to really take over an offense when they need to score. nobody else can create on their own.

Why are Bosh's stats down so much DJ? Is he hurt?

he looks a bit slow. his explosiveness is also lacking.

he wasn't able to really play this summer b/c of knee problems. mitchell also said it would take like 20 games for him to catch his wind so he looks like he's pacing himself during games.

i think it's b/c of his knee...but not sure yet...we'll see where he's at in a few months. he's getting ALOT of calls from refs and that's keeping his #'s somewhat respectable. but he's holding onto the ball too long and that's a big no-no in that offense.

how about Lee & Nate for Calderon & a lottery protected pick? u could use that pick along w/our own pick in a Kobe trade later, or just hold onto it & let Isiah at least pick a couple more young players w/talent before he gets the boot.

His (pardon me) knee injury resurfaced early but the guy just isn't as aggressive as he should be and they have this guy named Jamario Moon who's having a serious impact on their team.

with tj in the house, i can't see them going shorter there as the backup. they were courting salmons last summer but he went nuts and renegged on both toronto and pheonix before signing with the kings.

it would be lee for calderon and that's basically it.

moon is a 27 year old rookie signed to a 2 year deal...he makes $400g this year, and $700g's next year. he makes less than steph does in a month. and he is making an impact on that team. he won the starting SF spot.

and bosh hasn't looked good since the playoffs vs. jersey.

Calderon gets killed on defense, which is the reason he only plays 20mpg

Colangelo made some very smart moves, Kaponon signing was great many here laughed at the signing, The Maceo Baston pick-up was excellent, add in Jamario Moon and Delfino and what they make collectively and it makes you cry looking at our horrific situation. The Raps need about 5-10 more games and they should be clicking. It's a great system/scheme they run.

he got delfino for 2 2nd round picks...we just threw 2 picks in the garbage...and the knicks NEED a guy like delfino.

ok, give them Mardy then instead... D Lee & Mardy for Calderon & a 1st round pick... the key is getting the pick in my eyes cuz those are always more valuable commodities to have in any future trade discussions.

There aren't too many good defensive backup point guards in this league.

we have one in Mardy they may be interested in... Brevin Knight's a good defender too at the backup position, & he's a FA next season.
