These are some of my observations. No hysterics or overreactions are needed after just 7 games. We've blown some games that we clearly could've won. The team needs to get back on track and refocused on what they need to do in each game to win. They've clearly gotten off track as far as their mental approach to the games and how they need to play to succeed.

Curry and Zach to me looks good overall. Add in Lee and we're good. I don't see them as our problem. Most of our problems are on the perimeter. The things that concern me more are getting Mardy healthy and into the starting lineup for the rest of the year. I want to see if he can grow into the position. We know his D is superior and would help us a lot. He's solid in running the offense and of course needs work on his shot. Without Mardy, we're gonna be left to play Steph more and I can't tell you how unfortunate it was that Mardy got hurt. In the longterm tho, I can see him having a positive effect on the team. So many have been looking for a Eric Snow type and why can't Mardy be that guy?

I also want to see Jamal get back to attacking the defense like he was. His FG% improved cuz he was attacking the basket more aggressively. For whatever reason he got away from that and he's been hesitating and dancing on the perimeter, which has led to him carrying the ball and turning it over.

I think Zach's been falling in love with the jumper a bit too much, but I believe he'll get that under control. Most of the time players end up being what they've proved to be over their careers. He strikes me as a guy that will eventually get back up to his usual FG %.

Lee hasn't gotten his usual minutes and for me he's not been as good as he was last year overall. This could easily be just a normal up and down that you see in any season. I fully expect him to get his game together and he'll start getting more minutes. The thing is we need BOTH Lee and Zach and there's no reason why Zach has to play so many minutes with Lee around. Over the course of a season things will even out.

Isiah needs to improve his use of the roster. I think he had that in mind until Mardy and Balk got hurt, but I'd like to see him use Chan and Morris when there's an opportunity that screams for them to be used. No more Malik and limit Jared's minutes. There's really not that much that we need to correct. Take better shots and make shots. Play hard on D. Cut down the TO's and get healthy.

Very, very true...
And what I can see - Eddy, steph, Jamal, Zack, and Q are same players as they were last year. So I expect the team to be same or around same it was last year.
+ Zack - half of Lee minutes - older Steph = sucking for 33-35 in best case.

Thanks Nix for the long post prepared at my request on one of the threads...

Sorry to beak your heart 'Luva, but thats the whole enchilada. There's not much else to basketball besides offense, defense and healthy players.

My response would be so brutal, so I'll just shut my ****in mouth.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

The sad part is that, after all those years of collecting dirt on Isiah, Marbs couldn't uncover even one shred of information of basketball utility. Not one nugget Isiah may have had tucked under there.

Now there's only one thing Steph can do to redeem the free fall that his career here has been. And, ironically, it will coincide with his exit. Ant that is to spill the beans on Isiah. Go out in style Marbs. For once, do what's in the interest of the team.

Yup, that was the life-lesson Isiah taught him in the Larry Brown season: if you're on your way out anyway, go out swinging, you just might catch a chin before you go down.

My curiosity for the mysterious "dirt" Marbs has on Isiah is building. I mean, it could be anything. Although I have a strange suspicion a truck might be involved.

Luva, you got to stop looking at each piece and realize it adds up to a monumental failure. Don't you see what is going on? The team has melted down. They voted out Marbury and the coach still plays him, a surly player won't sit down, he is extorting his coach!

This is a stench that is really really bad. Your obvious on the payroll or believe in unicorns and elves which is really nice if you like Cookies and the rock band "Yes" but this collection of entertainers is really a rotten group led by the worst GM in history of any sport. Name any GM that had created this kind of mess? Not even close. You can't make this kind of stuff up.

The game close? Look, this is a talented group. The ultimate gamepicker assasin is Nate who is the best blowout player in the league. When you down and out unlease the midget and the kid scores 18 points in 5 minutes of garbage and just kills the gamepicker.

You seem like a really good dude so its not gonna get nasty from me, but get real man, this team is on the brink of blowing up and all they gotto do is play better d and move the ball? No sh@t!

Classic nixluva. The team is in turmoil, and here he is with all his coulds, shoulds, and i expects.
Give us a break already. Do you realize how many of your "expectations" have been shot the last 3 years?

I especially like "the team has gotten off track"! Are you for real? What track? The track to 33 wins? What track were they on? Come on, brother.

Everyone here has been saying "No excuses". Well why should it matter that there's a bit of turmoil then? In time this team should be at full or near full strength and they're paid to play ball. I expect them to do their jobs.

Panos you ask me "what track"? Well the track is what our general consensus of what the teams chances were this year. Everyone here had a somewhat similar level of expectation on avg. Right now the team is not playing at that level. So IMO, ALL OF US expect this team to be better.

There's really no reason not to expect more from this team. What has really changed since day one that we should now expect that this team can't get it back together and win the number of games needed to make the playoffs? Like any other team, whether it's the Bulls, Wiz or GS, they have most of a full season left to get it right and that's what I expect them to do.

Get Mardy back and stick with the plan to have him start. Get Balkman back healthy so he can do what he does best. Get Zach back and in the groove again, after he's dealt with his family situation. Why then should I expect less from this group just cuz Steph is being Steph? Isiah has done the right thing by looking to marginalize him a bit. If it's true that the team voted not to have him play, then that would be a bad move by Isiah. I still don't know that this is a fact. We'll see how the team responds tonight and from here on out.

Nothing's changed since day 1. That's why most of us still expect the team to miss the playoffs yet again. You're in for a harsh disappointment.

How I See the Team (for entertainment purposes only)

and because I support nixluva for his faith

(but what do I know, I ain't never set foot in the locker room, rode the team bus from the airport or watched practice)

Marbury - all alone, for real now
Nate - quietly trying to keep the team loose and balancing that act with staying focused and anxious to show what he learned in Vegas
Mardy Collins - trying to be patient with his body, does not get into idle conversation, too mature for that

Quentin Richardson/Eddy Curry/Jamal Crawford - the Chicago Crew has mixed allegiances. Q don't care about individual agendas and has some influence over Eddy and Jamal who respect his experience. Probably one key faction of Marbury resistance but respect Zeke to a point. Tricky.

Zach Randolph - Indiana is next door to Chicago. Playing better basketball than anyone expected, his family comes first right now and the rest seems petty in comparison.

David Lee - hung with Zach early in training camp. Although they play the same position I don't sense any tension. Lee just wants to win. he's caught between being an Isiah pick and being fed up with the sideshow.

Randolph Morris - quickly learning the difference between college and professional. Isiah courted him at Kentucky so he remains somewhat torn due to the opportunity to leave in a historic signing

The Mayor - see first sentence re Randolph Morris. Just hoping for minutes.

Jeffries - more loyal to Isiah witih the Inidiana connection.

Malik Rose: "I can't beleive this ish..."

Jerome James: no comment

Isiah - the Budweiser Hot Seat is scorching his butt right about now

Dolan - hearing the footsteps of Lord Charles coming down the hall at 2 Penn Plaza

Mills - Clemenza, designated hit man

just win baby

or else

once a knick always a knick
