1270 Detroit -
According to radio station 1270 AM in Detroit, the Lakers and Pistons came to an agreement to trade Bryant to the Pistons.

However, Bryant used his no-trade clause to veto the trade.

The report claims the deal was completed late Tuesday night.

Detroit would have sent Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, Amir Johnson and a first round pick to the Lakers.

If true Kobe's value isn't that high although the package is valiant.

Billups, Kobe, Rasheed, McDyess, Maxiell

He vetoed that? That team is certainly a match for anyone in the East. Where is he looking to go? This is reminding me of Arod.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Prince and Rip are two battle tested, all-star caliber players. Plus a 1st round pick. How many teams have more to give?

That pick would be near 30 nothing to write home about but Rip and Tay-Tay is a respectable package. But for the best player in the league hands down the package is still lacking. Plus if I get rid of Kobe I'd want to go full blown rebuild route. I need something that'll get me young talent or high picks. With Kobe's veto power it makes it difficult for them. It goes to show he isn't about winning either. Why not go to Det, that team would be a force to be reckoned with if he decides to play team ball.

That would've been a good package. That beats the Lee, Curry, Crawford. I dunno why Kobe wouldn't go to Det.

Kobe needs big market.
Detroit... come on. Bad place to stay.
Kobe will go to NY... but only after Isiah and Marbs will be gone.

You could be right, and it'll be like Isiah and Marbury all over again. The faces will be different but the story will be the same.

Watch out for predictions we'll be winning a 'chip in two years.

I would prefer to suck with Kobe.
He is something to watch.

Would the Pistons really be that much better after that trade? I kind of doubt it. Maybe I'm crazy. I think the Lakers squad would actually be pretty sweet with Rip and Prince.

I think Kobe would want to get traded to more a slam dunk scenario, where he'd clearly be on a stacked team. On the Pistons, he'd be in a very similar situation to the Lakers, with maybe a little more depth and leadership from Chauncey.

Prince and Rip mixed into the right situation COULD be very sweet.

With Jax it not just talent, its the blend.

good point. prince and rip are heady unselfish 2-way players. when odom played with one of this type (dwade) he had by far his best season. throw in walton, bynum, farmar, fisher - nice team.

I'd rather have Rip and Prince than Kobe. Actually, I'd rather have Rip than Kobe.

i keep telling u guys, there's only 2 realistic options for Kobe to go to, & Chicago's already tried & failed to get Kobe... if he's going anywhere, it's to the NY Knicks... i said that months ago & u guys called me delusional... let's keep watching Kobe veto these trades to other teams & see how many other options the Lakers & Kobe have.

They should have added Stuckey or Affalo

So we'll have an eastern conference version of the 40 win Lakers. Great!

Kobe, Balkman, Zach, Mardy, Chandler, Malik, Q Rich, Nate, Jefferies... how exactly is that the Eastern COnference version of the Lakers? they would have a legitimate low post scoring threat, rebounding, energyy players off the bench, perimeter shooting, & a legitimate franchise talent, something we haven't had in NY since Ewing was traded.

None of those players are as good Odom or Caron Butler (and you're going to be giving up many of those young players to get Kobe anyway). The idea of Kobe and Zach sharing the ball on offense is almost as awful as the idea of Zach and Eddy sharing the ball, which is almost as bad as the Francis and Marbury pairing.

that's great, but Caron Butler is on the Wizards... & please, Lamar Odom is not a better player than Zach... they do different things as players, & Kobe would be a much better fit on a team w/a low post scoring presence like Zach that he is on a team w/all perimeter players like the Lakers have now... add Kobe to the Knicks & then the trade to get Zach would make perfect sense.
