I know we talked about this over the summer but I thought it was worth mentioning again.

IT picked up Randolph for a player we did not want (getting Portland to buy Francis out for us) and a guy we barely wanted in Frye. Randolph is a beast and will definitely be in the discussion for the all-star game in the East. Other than the Garnett deal, this was clearly the best move of the summer.

The trade was a flat out steal in terms of talent cost. The question is would it be a Stevie-Steph nightmare as far as chemistry but here's the big difference. Zach is on his way up and is a very good player. Stevie was on his way down and wasn't a good player anymore when we got him.

3 games in so it still hard to tell if Curry and Z can co-exist together, although I will say that Randolph takes a LOT of pressure off of Curry to carry the weight. (was that a bad choice of phrase )

I would say though, to get to the next level of more than just a borderline playoff team, one of those guys will have to tremendously increase his defensive skills.

The trade was a steal.

Eddy seems to be trying to impress Zach.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Hey.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Z-Bo wore out his welcome with the Blazers and we're reaping the benefits (SO FAR).

Craw was sign and trade material. We gave them expirings not equal talent. Thats what they wanted.

KT for Qrich and nate was two seasons past. Q looks like crap so it was KT for Nate. sorry, we lost on that one.

But its all what a team is trying to do. Since we don't look to create space either by roster or cap, its kind of moot point.

Look at the record. ITs not good. Suns traded us Q and became a terror out west in the aftermath and did not miss nate do they?

IM not hating, but there are so many moving parts to a trade that its hard to isolate each one.

If you look at the w/l's, then the trades have ALL been a failure.

Since we are all so happy today about winning, hey, lets praise it all!

Regarding Zach, we have the money and the tolerance to take on a player like that. Not many teams would take on a contract with a guy whos character has been problematic off the court. Thats how we have done it and if Isiah can turn the corner with this philosphy then goody for all of us.

55 wins in two seasons. We are 2-1. I enjoyed last nites game. Fun to watch an good ball! Thats All I ask!

Right, you're also forgetting that we also took on JYD's large salary, so Crawford was used as the talent (which they weren't going to resign anyway) to get us to bite on JYD's contract.
KT for Q and Nate, I don't think was a goood deal. Q was known even at the time to have a bad back, and a bad contract. We could have gotten a middle/late round pick in a different way. Plus, KT would have been a good PF next to Curry for the last 2 years.

We benefited from circumstance... the Blazers didn't want to surround their stud young players with headcases. Here's the thing, Randolph had his problems when a lot of people make mistakes. Take my undergrad years for example... Good Lord. Anyway, I'm all about second chances.

That's what people overlook. This kid was 20-22 when most of that stuff happened and he was hanging around the wrong crowd. I think he sees what happens when you let people influence you and you fail to act professionally. The guy has acted like a total professional here and I have no doubt that will continue. Portland made a huge mistake giving him away so cheaply and I think in 2-3 years, this might be the trade that defines IT's tenure because it gives us a solid PF but also gives us options as far as trading Curry, Lee, or even Randolph. Those Kobe to the Knicks trade scenarios are looking more real by the day. If we hit the trade deadline a few games over .500, I think we will be a real player in getting a superstar assuming one becomes available.

That's probably the fairest assessment in this thread.

I'm happy he's had a few good games but he's done this before. Do you think the Bulls would take him back even for free right now? I don't.

Actually, the way the Bulls have problems scoring, I think they would. They would probably also take Curry back.

Randolph is owed some serious coin- we cleared cap room for portland- thank god we didn't send them picks as well.

as for whether it was a good trade or not- two questions

could we have gotten more out of portland, like a future first round pick?

And, the wild card- what else could we have gotten for Frye and Francis? Might we have been able to get Artest?

No matter how well Zach plays, its going to be near impossible for him to produce up the level of his contract.

In terms of value, yea sure.

In terms of strategy or even tactics...

It was embarassing.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Good or bad we have what we have.
And if this thing will became THE TEAM the question about IT trades will became irrelevant.
Who cares how you get to the Promised Land? I hope this will not take as long as in Bible when all who start the journey must be long gone before it’s completed. Or they all have gone already?

Wow and I thought I post padded.

Talk about "empty stats".

dude, no one ever questioned the deal in terms of the talent we got back... the entire issue was the big longterm dollars we took on by making the deal, which hampers our ability to make other moves down the road... it's the same type of mentality that has put this team in salary cap hell for the past decade... Zach has looked great so far, there's no denying it, but will he be enough to bring this team to being a legitimate contending team? i have serious reservations as far as that's concerned.

1 good thing that i do see is that he's keeping his nose out of trouble so far, but it's way too early to tell what the consequences or benefits of the trade will be... those of us that were against the trade are interested in how this trade effects the team in 2 pe 3 years, not how it effects the team right now.
