Yup. Little Nate.

Should he continue his Summer League/Pre-Season metamorphosis from a sideshow into a lead guard who can be trusted to dictate tempo, play defense and hit an occassional clutch shot - Nate is the key.

The Knicks starters main task is to play with purpose from the jump and not fall into any deep deficits in the first quarter as was custom last season. Nate directs the Knicks invaluable second shift that includes The Balkman, Collins, David Lee and from time to time, even The Mayor.

The Get Fresh Crew second shift is the Knicks best collective weapon.

I didn't see the summer league games, and I only saw a couple of pre-season games, but Nate did stand out as a player with energy, passion & confidence.

I think I'll like that second shift more than the first shift.

Mista, I agree with you 100%, but Isiah has to cut his friendship ties with the craw -marbury backcourt scheme.

When I saw Jason Terry come off the bench and allow devin (quick feet ) Harris start at pg without any pouting, that told me avery johnson is all about winning now .....will isiah do the same?

BJones - you knew something was different about Nate in Vegas when he only danced for 15 seconds, instead of his normal 5 minutes, during the warmups.

That feisty, and lovable, kid is ready for a breakout (solid contibutions in scoring AND rebounding) season.

playa - if Isiah sat Marbury last season during his sluggish starts, you don't think he'll do the same in a heartbeat with Nate, playing more poised, chomping at his ankles?

Heck, I'd play him just to keep him from pissing off Malik Rose

I don't get this. MisterEArl calls Chandler "The Mayor" and everyone loves it. I call Balkman "the Tax Assessor", and outside of BasketballJones the response is lukewarm at best. Earl calls the bench team "the Get Fresh Crew" and it becomes all the rage. But yet when I called them "Milli Vanilli" there was not one word of support. UltimateKnicks sucks. Everyone here sucks. Get Fresh Crew, phhhhh. Milli Vanilli would stomp all over The Get Fresh Crew.

nyk4ever - rather than an instant diss, sit back, relax and think about the Minute Men of the seventies (Phil Jackson, Dave Stallworth, Cazzie and even Mike Riordan) and the absolutely CRITICAL role they played in picking up the first unit on those rare nights they lacked fizz... or worse, when Red REALLY got pissed with the effort and had a mass benching - just to make a point.

The vintage Knicks depended on their depth during their cameos to hold leads, change the tempo and on rare nights - do thier thing for extended minutes.

If you are missing the latent potential of the Knicks second shift - you simply haven't been paying attention.

The Get Fresh Crew - led by Little Nate - has a major, and I do mean MAJOR, role to play.

JrZyHuStLa - does the phrase "johnny one note" hold any meaning for you?

c'mon, calling for Isiah's dismissal isn't a valid strategy for the first game of the season. Or the first month for that matter. If the Knicks stumble out of the blocks the boos will turn into player mutiny and Dolan will be forced to make a call.

If he has truly got his mind "right", Nate WILL - without a doubt - make a huge difference in the Knicks season.

If you have any scientific (or -half baked, partially-marinated) evidence to the contrary, I would be happy to hear it.

If the Knicks are diving after loose balls and rebounding like last season, the only missing element is cutting turnovers.(the Knicks fatal flaw of 2006-07)

In case you haven't been watching, Nate has done an excellent job of taking care of the basketball.

nate is one of my fav players because of his passion, and i have made a first class reservation for hopping on his bandwagon, but i am reserving comment until i see him do something special in the regular season. and i am talking about major mins in a meaningful game.
