I never made a big deal out of Butler, but I definitely think Nichols is going to be a different scenario. A guy his size who can shoot the way he does is a definite commodity, even if he never develops beyond being a shooter.
I agree. It's one of the example's I always point out about 'saving the money'. You invest in a slow, overweight, lazy bum like Jerome and you have to let a guy like Nichols go, because Jerome's contract is too big to let go. I just don't ever understand how two GM's in a row keep tying the money up into such disasterous contracts, keeping us for pitching for some great talent out there, when it becomes available. It's mind boggling! You really wonder what's going to happen when suckbury is finally out of here and we're 21 million ahead. History shows the most likely scenario is, the Knicks will trade his ass, in his last year for a piece just to fill space and then give the bum a five year 50 to 80 million dollar contract. Unless there's a mega star out on the market next year, I'd let the contract run out and save the money for that opportunity when it becomes available. Am I the only one who gets this? Just sign a no name to fill that spot until we have an opportunity to get a superstar in New York. No brainer right?
I'll never trust this' team again.
