I for one, said that preseason wins and losses were meaningless. Not bothering to show up and losing by 40 points isn't meaningless. And not showing any heart the next game after that, having the other teams scrubs open up a huge lead over 4/5's of your starting lineup in the 4th quarter, isn't meaningless.

Congrats, they showed up tonight and played a tight meaningless game. There wasn't a second of that 2nd half where you thought the Celtics couldn't come back to win and if it were a regular season game I bet they would have.

My advice to you is to enjoy the last few games of preseason, don't try to make too much out of it win or lose as long as they bother to show up and I'll see you when they play Cleveland to start the season that actually counts.

It wasn't the loss people were reacting to. It was the lack effort, terrible shooting, and non-existent defense.

the knicks had some games like last night last year- the problem with this group is you get the occasional effort.

to fish's point- seen this before, know how this movie ends.

This thread is just as bad as the threads after we lose. If losing the past 2 preseason games were nothing to phone home about because it's only preseason, then winning this game is just as meaningless. Sure the game had a regular season feel (according to 3rd person, i didn't see it) but it's still a preseason game and we should not point to it for any proof either way. Give them 20 games in, then evaluate. That is fair.

Haters just want to see good ball, and based on the last few years with this same CORE group one is not going to get too excited over a nice win.

haters don't want to see losers win once in a while, we prefer to see a good team give it their best win or lose.

Ah, bring it on my brothers. We have gone nowhere. Some of us just had early appointments this morning. ;-)

That’s great that this team got it together for one game. Look at how low they had to get before scraping together the focus to actually play like a basketball team.

This team is structurally flawed all the way through – from top to bottom. It was assembled on a pipedream and a bloated unrealistic budget that’s required the art of the buyout as a desperate means of trying to clean up major impulsive mistakes. The offense is generally atrocious, based on the tone set by point guards who don’t get the notion of rhythm and pace, wing players who don’t cut and can’t hit shots and a coach who doesn’t instill any kind of structure or flow to his plays. The defense we all know about.

Let this team surprise the hell out of us and maintain the focus and purpose they played with last night. That would be one hell of a great surprise for us. But don’t hold your breath waiting for it.

That is the key. It's only ONE game. The problem with the Bricks err I mean Knicks is that this team is not a consistent bunch. The winning teams in the NBA bring it every game. What this team specializes in is inconsistency. Even if this team somehow by miracle squeaks into the 8th seed in the pathetic east, they aren't winning jack **** with Chubbs and Randolph playing no defense.

Oh and Marbury is an idiot who doesn't have the mental capacity to lead this team through a long season and into the playoffs. Marbury, Curry and Randolph??? Who in their right mind would build a team around those 3???

Wait one more thing I need to get off my chest. Can everyone around the Knicks please STFU about Marbury being in excellent shape?!?!?!? Shouldn't that loser have been in excellent shape EVERY year? I mean damn, how much money is that jackass getting paid? Isn't that a part of his job, you know, to actually be IN SHAPE? And I'm also sick and tired of people saying how great Marbury played defense last season. Bull****. He played "great" defense for like one quarter and was non-existent for the other 3. Some games he didn't even show up at all on that end! Why? Because he wasn't in shape. Well I guess now we know why he's always slowly jogged the ball up court. Trying to conserve his energy. Thank God this loser is only here for 2 more seasons. Hell. F you Isiah.

Marv, I don't think this thread is aimed at people being critical or even pissed off at the team.

I think it more about those who revel after losses and ignore or dismiss good efforts.

No, not really. Its a lesson that the season is long and pre-season means jack. And only a ninnie would get uptight about any pre-season defeat. So all the negative nancys and debbie downers should man up to their stupid proclamations. right or wrong, we don't know how the season is gonna turn out yet. to react the way 90% of this place did over the weekend is the reason why this place gets a bad name sometimes. accept that losses happen and move forward. learn that pre-season is very often non-indicative of anything. the atlanta hawks are 6-1.

what fun is it to take the wait and see approach? let people hate on the team. let people hate on those haters. it spurns threads and discussion. otherwise this place would be BORING with people making about 2 posts a day while not really saying anything that hasn't been said before.

nobody cares about the w/l record in preseason. nobody. it's all about how they played. they played well last night following two terrible, borderline d-league performances. and i don't think we can count maccabbi.
