The comeback of Allan Houston lasted one week and one game. The Knicks announced today that they will waive former the All-Star shooting guard.

In a press release handed out at the Knicks' open practice at Hofstra University yesterday, Houston said he decided to end his comeback, feeling it was unfair to the team because he needed more time to get into game shape than they Knicks had to give.

"I think it is better for the team to move on without me," Houston said in the release. [READ]

Can't say I didn't see this coming, but they should find a place for him on the bench. Working with Nichols, Nate, Crawford & even Collins on form and shot selection would be a HUGE.

The guy had one the best mid-range games in the league (ala Big Dog in his hay-day). Use that skill-set to help mentor a weapon with jab-steps, utilization of screens and one dribble pull-up j's.

He has no lift, despite having a wicked jumpshot his propensity for shooting over anyone has now been limited to open set shots which was really never his game. I was hoping he would make it because he shot just opens the paint with out a doubt.

All of our current shooters are streaky and unreliable.

He'll find a place in the front office. Possibly being named the next pres of basketball operations. Just a guess.

sweet, we're down to 19 players
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

At the same time, the team's greatest weakness is defense, an area where Houston would be a huge liability.

One more cut for Nichols to dodge. What about cutting James and sending Jordan to Europe... that puts us @ 15. OR heck, give me Jared Jordan if you don't want Nichols. There is no room for Jerome.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Knicks basically gave him the "we'll let you save face" treatment.

Allan was going to be cut this week just like Penny Hardaway and Stacey Augmon
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

He didn't get cut. He quit.

I never understood what the big deal was with this guy. He was in the NBA for 12 years (9 with the Knicks) and averaged 17.3 PPG in his career. He averaged 20 to 22 points a game only twice while with the Knicks. And he made $100,000,000.00 dollars that he never lived up to.

I'm glad this sucker is gone. Now just 'stay away and don't ever come back again!' It's like being haunted by ghosts.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Let's not spoil the boy like we do every young player with hope that we get. Example - David Lee.
If Zeke traded Davie Lee befor pre-season he would have gotten more for him then than now. Think about it!! Let them prove something first.
The only problem I have with Zeke waiving Houston was that he didn't get a chance and from what I've seen so far if he wanted to waive Houston then he should waive the whole damn team. This is New York the greatest city in the World and this is what we get so far?? You guys know that I'm a Zeke supporter but these last 2 games showed me that they just picked up where they left off last season. They just won't play defense and that is unexceptable. It is also contagous. They can't shoot they can't defend. If we continue to play like this we need to blow the whole damn thing up and start all over. What are they doing at practice?? I am no hater but I am disappointed with Zeke and the players. ALL OF THEM.

Papabear, you're no hater, but then neither are we; we've just been feeling what you're feeling for a couple of years longer than you.

Oh, and I think oohah was being facetious.

I think Huston also saw this 2 games - from inside.
And he decided to run. I can understand this. MSG should be scary place to be...
