First the way this team was constructed is crazy. You have 5 starters that are all volume shooters. Steph, Quentin, and Jamal all shot under 42% last year which isnt efficient. Curry is efficient but cant hit free throws and Zach shot 46% which isnt good for a big man. You dont have a point guard that can run a offense. You have no one that thinks about defense first, and no one that can block shots. Unless you trade Curry or Randolph this team will not be very good this year. I dont want to see Zach roaming the perimeter when Eddy is in the game. We dont have any shooters, anyone that wants to defend, a three man, and no interior defense. If we can fix just these thing we have a chance to be pretty good,

Yes, we have problems, but don't forget we got Jarred Jeffries to be the glue man, to tie it all together, so I'm not worried.

Probably like them better if he were starting.

King1 - the Knicks lost a pre-season game. One.

Granted they got blown out, but damn... judging by the overwhelming number of originally panic-laden threads and rehashed chicken little "sky is falling" themes, one would think that the season is already over.

Let's call the whole thing off.

EARL...I agree with you. There is such FATALISM around here and its really ridiculous.

In case anyone recalls, for some reason, we always have problems with Boston.

Also, it was the Celts FIRST game at their home arena in front of a sold-out crowd FOR A PRE-SEASON GAME.

Many of us DID NOT SEE THIS GAME and we rely on a bunch of Boston based radio guys and people who watched the game that may have their own personal biases. Like Holfresh who claimed Marbury was awesome. NO ONE was GOOD LAST NIGHT. Not even close to it.

And this is the truth, if the Knicks had won that game and if they win tonight, the people around here would/will be going nuts. As DJ put it, "there would be a circle jerk." I cannot participate but I understand where he's coming from.

The one thing that bothers me is that on the first night of the Eddy-Zach experiment, the team was absolutely awful offensively. ALL OF THEM. Defensively is another story, but at the very least, we would expect this team or at least some of the team to bring it offensively, because that is their strength.

Before we go AWOL and declare this team the greatest tragedy ever, let's wait til the regular season WHEN IT COUNTS.

Isiah is NOT going to panic and make changes because we got blown out in a pre-season game. Obviously the team saw that they were not very good last night and if they want to compete with the big boys, they have to man up and get better.

Earl I am not panicking it doenst take a rocket scientist to figure out how dysfunctional this team is. Every good team has a couple of role players that dont need shots, so the guys that needs shots get them. It is all about everyone being happy. I think the Knicks have 3 guys that can be good role players. Balkman, Lee, and Chandler dont need shots, and they know what role they have. You have to break up the starting 5 and put in a Balkman or Lee just to balance the shots. This team has no chemistry, and no one on this team can guard anyone. The reason the Florida gators won back to back championships is because they were a team. They were unselfish and shared the ball. We had 10 assists last night, and I just want to see the Knicks be a team.

Run and Hide

Queenie - You reset the environment of last nights game well. One home team, with two new stars, in a charged atmosphere against an opponent with an uncertain frontcourt and two big men who had not played a minute together in live action.

basketball can be like dominoes. Once things start falling they can multiply.

Where are the Knicks fans who don't panic and run for cover at the first sign of trouble?

We is DOOMED!

I miss Balkman

King1 - one game does not make the Knicks dysfunctional.

I'm totally with you on the aasists thing though. 20 should be a goal or heads must roll.

did you like my alternate Summer League Hybrid lineup?

Earl, I don't think fans are as worried about things as embarrassed. We shouldn't have to be discussing 40 point blowouts when players are telling us their play will do the talking, and they're looking forward to the matchup. Even haters expect more from this team.

A good move to balance out the roster would be to trade Craw for someone who doesn't need a lot of shots - someone who plays good d and can hit an open jumper when needed. A player I'd love to see on the Knicks is Josh Crawford.

Two positives came out of last night game. My speakers went out so I didnt have to listen to the Boston announcers and Chandler played hard. I talked to a guy after the game last night and his quote was "Chandler is a great kid and will be very good once he figures out what is going on" Earl one game doesnt make a team dysfunctional but the last two years have.

I personally am not panicking at all. I was at the game and people want to hear my observances. I think pre-season records are unimportant. But at the same time when I comment on what I saw, obviously a 40 point loss is going to be negative. I could say everything was great if that will make people feel better but I have a problem lying to myself. The defense was bad even by the standards set by the LB years.

I think it's silly for fans to over-react to "one game". But there are some patterns that never seem to go away. We talked about them during the LB offseason. During the LB season. During Isiah's first offseason. During Isiah's first seasson. Now during Isiah's 2nd offseason. Everytime the same themes are talked about we defend and say it's too early to talk about.

I'm with MisterEarl and Queenie that last night was just a preseason game and has no bearing on what our record will be. But I also have to say, eventually this team has to be asked to give an honest effort on the defensive end, every night. I will wait until people tell me, when that time is.
I just hope that people will like me

I honestly think that the bench of, mardy, D-nick, chandler, lee, morris and balkman would run our starters out of the building.. I am not kidding... they would have problems scoring, but remember how soft the starting frontline would be.... lee would have 25 points off of putbacks..

Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

You dont start the 5 best players all the time. Ideally you do that but you start the 5 best players that can mesh as a team. Why not put someone that score on the bench and have them come in against a second unit?
