October 8, 2007 -- CABLEVISION patriarch Charles Dolan is so "livid" and "embarrassed" over last week's multimillion-dollar sex-harassment victory against Madison Square Garden, which is run by his unpolished son Jim, he's planning a major shakeup of the tarnished "World's Most Famous Arena," sources say.

A high-ranking MSG source said things are so tense since fired Knicks executive Anucha Browne Sanders won her case that father and son Dolans ended up in an ear-splitting screaming match. Daddy Charles is now mulling management changes from top to bottom, the insider said.

Not only is the elder Dolan, whose company owns the Garden as well as the Knicks and the Rangers, personally upset about the humiliating black eye his empire has been dealt - he also has both the NBA and NHL breathing down his neck to clean things up fast, another insider tells The Post's Patrick Gallahue.

During testimony in her federal civil suit, Sanders, the Knicks' former vice president of marketing, claimed Isiah Thomas called her "bitch" and "ho" and then made sexual advances towards her. Testimony got even sleazier when Knicks star Stephon Marbury told how he bedded an intern in the back of his SUV after a night at a strip club.

In the end, Sanders won a jury verdict award of $11.6 million.

Asked about an impending shake-up, Garden spokesman Barry Watkins said, "I would direct you to our statement from the other day that says we plan to appeal this decision."

The NHL declined to comment and a spokesman for the NBA did not return calls.

But the Garden is now forced to go from one high-profile legal battle to another. Former Rangers cheerleader Courtney Prince will soon take on MSG with her own similarly salacious claims of rampant sexual harassment.

If, as the article hints, "unpolished" son Jim is replaced, who are the candidates Charles Dolan would consider to preside over the "World's Most Famous Arena"?

My top three nominations:

1. Bill Bradley - for his obvious Knicks roots and intellect

2. Kenneth Chenault - hired away from American Express

3. Bill Clinton - a reach to be certain, but an instant image makeover via a hip Harlem resident with mass appeal. The Cablevision empire is all about image and mass appeal

call me crazy but...

... for all the threads and comments about making a major change at MSG, it would seem there is an opportunity for all forward thinking people to make expert and enlightened suggestions about the best candidates...

Bill Clinton?! You want to clean up your image after a sexual harassment suit, and you want to hire Bill Clinton?!
Are you out of your mind, son?

If Charles Dolan has to get the Board of Directors involved to get rid of son James. I don't think that would be hard.

My guess for a replacement would be a top vice president from Cablevision, someone who is trusted, has an excellent track record and is level-headed. The Knicks and MSG need a top executive type of person to guide the organizatgion, not just a famous named person. Then they can hire basketball people to manage the organization. Isiah and probably Steve Mills would be out.

Panos - if Charles Dolan eliminated anyone who ever received oral sex he might be down to a very short list.

Let it go.

Chenault is an interesting choice. He's a good man.

You need a strong financial acumen and a squeeky clean record.

Or go the entertainment route. After all, its an entertainment company.

And no Spike Lee just makes movies. Russell Simmons would be a better choice.

Charles is getting a lot of heat form sponsers also I would be sure. It should be kept all out of the public eye.

Isiah is toast. Dolan made a lot of mistakes but not firing Isiah as President was a big no no. Keep him as coach if you must, but relieve him of his duties in the office. Its a big liablity.

They plan to appeal, and Anucha can still go after Isiah for money. Plus she still gets some back pay.

Best thing to do is not appeal, and settle by just sticking to the settlement number and apologize for goodness sake.

Sometimes you just take your asswhooping and move on! Jimmy is a dope.

I don't really know the top executives at Cablevision, or other corporations in NY so I can't give a name. But that is the type of person needed.
I do like your choice of Bill Bradley but I doubt he would take the job of Pres of MSG. He is over qualified. Probably better suited as President of the U.S.
I like Isiah's ability as coach; but should be fired as President. If Jimmy goes, Isiah is right behind him.

okay Panos, you win.

do you have any suggestions on candidates to preside over MSG?

Nalod - Russell Simmons is an interesting nomination. Imagine his brother, Rev Run, managing the in-house entertainment chores.

Markji - what about stealing an executive from another growing/major business outside of New York?

A young visionary in the mold of Steve Jobs perhaps?

Honestly, I have no idea. I'm not a corporate exec with corporate contacts.
Nor do I read Forbes.

Panos - you don't need to read Forbes or be a corporate exec.

Isn't there just one business person you can recommend whose qualities and perspective could direct the fortunes at MSG?

Hell, George Jefferson could run The Garden

In reality, he is a solid family man who built his fortune not by inheritance but thorugh perserverance and hard work. He is bluntly honest and fearless. He has a New Yorker's biting sense of humor and would make the tough decisions. He has a core of friends he can trust and could care less about the media.
