(NYT)

Thomas’s opinions on black-white relations prompted Anne C. Vladeck, one of Browne Sanders’s lawyers, to try to cite an incident when she said he “interjected” race as an N.B.A. player. Her reference was to his remarks about Larry Bird, the Boston Celtics Hall of Fame forward, after the Celtics defeated Thomas’s Detroit Pistons in the 1987 Eastern Conference finals.

Thomas said that Bird was “a very, very good basketball player,” and that he agreed with comments made by his teammate Dennis Rodman, saying, “If Bird was black, he’d be just another guy.”

But Vladeck’s attempt to use the 20-year-old remarks led to a swiftly stated objection by Dolan’s lawyer, Ronald M. Green, and United States District Court Judge Gerard E. Lynch said emphatically, “Absolutely sustained.”

playa - just think, basketball is almost back

Hope Isiah doesn't get detained from Media Day or the flight to Charleston. Then again, imagine the scene as players are in a layup drill under Mark Aguirre on Wednesday and Zeke walks in the gym...

...then it starts.

in about 1 week, if isiah is still the president and coach of this team regardless of the jury's decision, then this whole anucha thing will be forgotten.

the bitching and moaning about the knicks roster and team will then be able to rightfully commence.

Charleston, South Carolina is absolutely beautiful this time of year. Sploteo as folded its artistic tents and the heat has subsided a bit. Folly Beach has some nice rental property and the seafood is extra yummy-licious.

dj - ain't it grand that after the ultimate Summer of Kvetch that Knicks basketball is almost back?

Even the crippled Allan Houston is so infected with the positive vibes of a new season that he actually believes he can walk again, let alone play the endless grind of NBA one night stands again.

Will wonders never cease?

The equipment dudes are packing new pairs of comp shoes and the NBA Store is folding up some fresh Knicks gear.

A: The first one of you to call me a "black, bitch, ho" has to carry Eddy through the suicide drills.

BlueSeats - not bad

But if you ever played ball, you know how locker rooms don't hold back on the language or honesty. I think it's more along the lines of:

A. "I bet you bitches thought I would show up late so you could slack off with Herb or Mark, or I bet you got a kick out of that skank ho tryin' to bust me... (smirks) well, like I said to her... I don't care about any of that mo'f'n' ish, I'm here to win some mo'f'n' basketball games!

...now, if any one of you punk azz bitches thinks you are ready to earn some mo'f'n' minutes in a full-court scrimmage with no damn whistles, get yo' azz on the baseline for some f''n wind sprints!"

I'm getting the feeling this judge doesn't care for the defense team.

I get the feeling this judge is annoyed that this case ever made it to trial.

If they start off bad , he will just give them to other judge who takes the cases he doesn't want.

It's all about the quality of your ingredients.

If you start with ****, it's going to be **** no matter how long you simmer.

I watch it all the time actually. I just feel from his emphatic statement he's thinking.... "If they would have just handle matters like they do with every blunder they usually make I wouldn't have to sit here and listen to this ridiculous Tit-4-Tat BS."
