I think it matters who you are talking to. The media in general - or - fans on this board. This is hard to do also because so many people are so down on the Knicks it almost feels like everyone gets dogged. That's why I made the selections I made even though they kinda don't make sense.

Lee gets a lot of praise. He might be one of the only guys on the team who is universally rated high by media and fans -- so he's my pick for overrated. He's great -- I don't know if he's as great as people think he is.

Meanwhile, I think people have been less inclined to trumpet the arrival of Zach. Though I think this can be explained by the fact that many fans are probably approaching him with caution. He is still an unknown commodity as it relates to the Knicks. So I think he's underrated for now.

Overrated: allan houston.

Underrated: chris childs. He was clutch, and great defensively. He was a tough bastard and did what the team needed him to do. Never lived up to the idea of him being the perminant starter but he still left it all out there. A lot of people talk down on.

I love Crawford and what he has to offer, but he hasn't reached his potential, and he seems to have a plateau career. He makes a lot of mistakes. And NO, Crawford hardly ever gets "Bashed" on this board, except by MS and maybe a couple of others. Curry gets bashed for being out of shape and not playing defense, but even that is just once in a blue moon. Marbury gets trashed by everyone, including me a lot, and so does Nate, more than anyone else, I would say. That's why I wanted to say that Marbury was underrated, b/c he really did have quite a nice all around year last season, and I do praise him for not pointing fingers this past season. At the same time, he just seems to be going nuts and I don't know how much longer we can ride him.

Your implication that he is not a good player seems to make him under rated. There are no perfect players. Craw has his flaws like many other players. But his combination of speed, passing, great handle, clutch shooting, and penetrating abilities makes me think he has a lot more good going for him than bad. He sure destroyed Dwayne Wade last year.

underrated: q rich- leadership quality and overall demeanor makes him a true professional and valuable teammate who doesn't get the credit he deserves.

overrated: curry- i like him and he is a good low post scorer but ten or fifteen years ago he would have been an average center. he has the same states as rony seikley which isn't flattering.
