Me and my roommate got into a heated ( yea it got really intense at one point) arguement about who has a better future The Knicks (me of course) and Lakers ( him aka Laker fan aka Kobe fan). My arguement is that...

- We have better prospects (Lee, Balkman, Mardy, Nate, Morris, Nichols and Chandler) oldest being 23
- WE have a allstar caliber frontline (Lee, Curry, and Randolph) w/ the oldest member being 25
- We have better players at 3 out of 5 positions ( Kobe SG and Odom SF)
- Kobe rings are all from Shaq's MASS contiributions to that team. ask Dwayne Wade if you do not believe me.
- Unless the pull a Celtics blockuster, we will win a champion ship before the Lakers
- If not for the suspensions and injuries ( Lee out 24 games avg 30 mpg, Crawford out 23 games avg 37 mpg, Richardson 33 games avg 33 mpg) we would have been in the playoffs
- You have the best player in the game and he can only get you 42 wins and sneak into the playoffs on the last week of the regular season

His arguement

- Even though his team isnt great they go to they playoffs every year
- We haven't been to the playoffs in 3 yrs
- Last time we one a ring I was negative 14 yrs old
- We have a squad but we still suck
- We let loose a coach that just won a championship
- All Knicks fans do is make excuses

Honestly I don't want the Knicks to JUST go to the playoffs, I want them to win the championship. If we miss the playoffs but continue to make our team gel and add pieces to become a roundball jugernaut then I don't care. Look at the bulls. They did not see the playoffs in almost 10 yrs. Now they are the favorites to win the east. Knicks > Lakers. Now if Kobe happens to leave or stay, whats the lakers future? Derek Fisher and Aaron Mckie? Andrew ByBUM? Jordan Fartrash? LMAO Kwame Brown? Speak on this I need to hear your thoughts.

if that's your definition of having a bright future, then you're in for a long wait... Dolan & Isiah have clearly shown that championship aspirations aren't what drives their roster decisions, making the playoffs at all costs is.

Ha Ha that sucks that you gets guy into an argument but I would have to go with the Knicks on this one. I really dont see that much game changing youngins on the Lakers, Bynum and Critten is the only ones I have to say will be good for their future. I like what we have with Curry, Lee, Balkman, Morris, Collins, Nichols and Chandler. Your friends argument is true but weak.

None of his arguments touch on the future of his team. They do have a rising star in Bynum. At some point, they'll rebuild around him. I'd trade any of our young players for him. But we have more young talent. But as the haters are prone to say, we need to have a winning season after all those losing ones to prove we are for real.

I say the lakers for one reason. they have the best player on the planet. they can trade him for a host of top notch young players if they wanted to..... Kobe would fetch more than any player in the league today... that is the sad truth..

Nate is a joke
Nichols isn't even on the team
Chandler hasn't even played a game
Morris has done nothing thus far

Unless Lee develops a jumper he'll never be an All-Star
The only way Curry goes to the All-Star game is if Howard, Okafor, Wallace, and O'Niel are injured
Randolph is the only player on the team who can be an All-Star ... hopefully he isn't in jail around that time.

Of course the Knicks have the better players .... but I'd still choose the Lakers roster!

Kobe's rings are all from Shaq?? I still need more proof because Kobe has had horrible players around him since Shaq leaving.

We will win a Championship before the Lakers?? I hope you're right.

Suspencions, injuries, jail, etc. blah blah wahh wahh. Stop making excuses man, if the Wizards didn't lose Arenas or Butler then they wouldn't have been swept. You're acting as if the Knicks were a .500 team prior to the injuries.

42 wins huh??? Well it's 10 more wins than the self proclaim best PG in the NBA.

The only thing about the Lakers is Kobe. Odom is a nice complementary player. Bynum MIGHT become a very good player one day. I think the Knicks have a brighter future. Some of you can try to knock the talent we have, but once you get past Kobe we have a much better team for the future. It's not even close.

blueNorange, nice to find a way to drag Steph's dying carcas into the argument about the FUTURE prospects of the team.

Also Okafor, Wallace and O'Neal may just get passed by Curry this year. It's not gonna take much more for him to do that. A couple more rebs and an assist and he's probably gonna get in.

He said Kobe and his 42 wins, I had to!!

And Curry won't have a good year, with Randolph here Curry will average 15 ppg and 6 rpg with his horrible defense.

Randolph >> Curry

The Knicks stink until they prove otherwise. We can make no claims.
I take the Knicks.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Knicks. Lakers have no future unless Bynum (who has shown no signs of being a franchise player) can contend with a front line for Curry, Lee and Zach.

Lakes have Jackson and Kupchack running things.

We have Isiah and Isiah.

Our roster is better, but our roster is always pretty good the last few years.

Anyone who thinks we have a brighter future is on drugs. They can trade kobe for two better players than we have at any point and still have odom and bynum. We don't have an allstar they have the best player in the game

the knicks *should* have a better roster than any other team in the league - how much has the team paid for it again? hell, we've paid $16 mil for draft picks, we should be young and talented. that hasn't been the team's problem since isiah's first offseason.

with the knicks it's all a question of if they'll keep underperforming or if "this will finally be the season where they put it together." unfortunately, for all its talent this team has not shown the drive and desire to put in a season of effort and fight through obstacles like injuries. for that reason, it's hard for me to get excited about the knicks' future as a team, not as a bunch of good players (so many of whom i love watching).

i'm no lakers fan, so i'm not going to say they have a better future. i also think the ZR trade was phase 1 in a plan to get us kobe, so the whole debate may be moot anyway.

I’d say they’re even. bleak on both sides. kobe's a little bitch, lamar disappears when there’s pressure and bynum is a huge question mark. they have nothing else.

we have flawed vets and fun but unproven young guys.

it depends on what you mean about future. imho, lakers have a brighter future considering they have the best player on the planet who hasn't turned 30 yet. he can play at this level for another 4-5 years before falling off. lakers are willing to build around them and they will eventually come across a good deal that will help him. if it doesn't work out, they could trade kobe for practically any of their needs, whether it is cap room, franchise player picks or all of the above. the knicks have younger player that are good but none of them are going to be superstars. with the zach deal, our cap relief is further away so this better work.

I'd agree with Marv. Bleak on both sides. Bynum's the only young big man on either team that's shown the potential to be a versatile, two-way big man. The Lakers have a better payroll and more draft picks. I'd give them the edge but both teams have bleak futures. The young players on both teams look like they have a chance to be just good role players.
