What a freakin waste. I know I'm opening a forum for hateration, but I want to talk about the future at point and others.

Marbs has had a crack induced fit on national television, and was almost giddy when he declared he was going to play in Italy after his contract is up.

He asked "do you know who you are?"

He sounds like a man that has completely lost his mind. He seemed to start changing after katrina when he broke down and cried. I think that has changed a completely ignorant ******* into a humanitarian/spoiled rich athlete/crazed lunatic.

How will this new marbury translate out on the court? Will his play be inspiring? Will he be everything we wanted from him?

Or will someone immerge from the bench as the flat out future of the franchise at point.

I'm rooting for Nate Robinson. His guard play in summer league was night and day from how he played in the past. He talks about how he studies the playbook and knows where everyone is supposed to be. He said he never did that before and it showed. He was a damn good point in summer league. We talk about the evolution of eddy curry but what about Nate? The guy has been a scorer off the bench and a good one. He's proven he can score with anyone and knock down the three consistantly. In fact the dude is the knicks best 3pt shooter. This guy is ready to take that next step. At least I'm rooting for him.

I think it was a blessing for Nate that Collins didn't play summer league. Nate showed he wasn't lying about learning the point.

As far as Collins, he already showed what he can do during the last few games of the season. He seems to be an all around threat. I think he is better suited to be shooting guard cuz he is shoot first kind of guy. His handle is slick. His jumper has a hitch but everything else is fine.

Bringing me back to marbs. He already put his foot in his mouth declaring that he is gone after his contract is up. The question I ask is, if Nate or Collins or both prove that they deserve to have bigger roles on the team, should isiah think of trading marbs early? Marbs would have an expiring contract that could be bought out after next year. That is a huge optin especially if Nate and Collins can surround craw as a 3 headed guard rotation. The potential is there and with the way marbs has been acting, the writting may be on the wall as well.

u bring up interesting things re marbs. i'd love to trade him but when i talk to friends around the country they underscore just how low his appeal is around the league. when i look at his career i look at a guy who always had stretches of superstar ball. during every season he's had periods where he could do anything he wanted on the court and was a key element in willing his team to wins. but he also had stretches in seasons where you’d look at him and he’d be a detriment to the team. you’d be better off with a sub than him. i think over the years the ratio has moved in the negative direction.

i would love to have the marbs era over here. whether collins or nate end up being his replacement or we find someone else, i think he’s much too much of a ball-dominating presence as well as an impact on the tone of the team to entrust the future of the team to him. not to mention trying to capitalize on the potential of the young players. but i don’t think you're gonna find anyone wanting to take him off our hands till he's much closer to expiring. his contract, not him

He probably got Collins mixed up with Robinson. Cause last time I check Isiah actually wanted Collins to shoot more cause he was only averaging about 3 FGA per game.

Well marv, that's what I'm saying. Next year he will be on the last year of his contract. That's when his contract would be attractive. Still maybe even this year. Who is to say a team like clevland might not take a chance on marbs especially for spare parts by the trading deadline of this coming season.

Still the year when he is expiring is a very valuable option. A team might just want to dump next years zach Randolph on someone. Maybe a small fwd or shooting guard. Anybody know who might be available at the time?

anyway, all this means nothing if Nate and Collins don't show signs that they are as good or better than marbs.

Reason is say Collins is more of a shoot first player is because when he is on the drive he is looking to score. He's not a guy that threads the needle or funds guys open when no one else does. Like I said he is just like marbs as far as making just the obvious pass.

Collins has a nice post game and defends the 2 well. He has shooting guard size.

He's still a good player. In my opinion I just think he is more suited for the 2 in a roll similiar to craws. Combo guard off the bench. Maybe even start and let craw be starks off the bench.

It really all comes down to what happens this year. If he's a significant factor in this teams success this year then I don't see a problem. However, if he's not that effective and some other guard steps up to show that they can run this team as well or better then we know Steph is likely to be used in a trade on his final contract year.

I think he's judged a bit too harshly at times. He didn't do anything wrong in his 1st half year here and he for the most part has been doing what he always does since he's been in the league. The rest of the team however hasn't always stood up and did what they're supposed to do. When the other guys hold up their end of the bargain this team wins. We just haven't had that happen as much as we needed.

Take last year for instance. Sure Steph had a bad Nov. But after that he was doing a good job. He defended well against the PG and SG position. He was more of a distributor and gave up the ball early in the shot clock as Isiah wanted him to do. When Isiah asked him to score he did that. He logged long minutes when we didn't have much else to put out there, even tho he was hurt. To be honest not having Q and Jamal along with Lee would seem to me to be bigger detriments than anything Steph did or didn't do. As long as we're healthy he's gonna do the job and then some and we'll be a winning team this year.

Eventually he'll be replaced, so what's the big rush? Just let things happen naturally. Let's just remember tho that He's still younger than Nash, so don't be in too much of a hurry to write him off. Nash was 30 when he got to PHX and started playing on another level. In his case "environment" could be found as a key reason he suddenly exploded at such a late stage. Maybe Dallas was the wrong place for him. The wrong coach, system or perhaps he was surrounded by the wrong kinds of players for his skills. There's nothing saying that the same thing can't happen for Steph. On an improved Knick team he could have a big year.

I agree that Marbury is judged harshly, and that's unfair. He has been a leader, and a unifying and stable force on this team ever since he got here.

If it weren't for Marbury, the Knicks would not be the championship team we know them to be.

He is judged for the things he's done wrong, but then there's a bit of piling on that guys like you seem to take pleasure in. Exactly which of our teams since he's been here were championship contention teams that he somehow held back from reaching that potential? Which of his teammates really stepped up and helped to make this team a winner? You have to get help in order to make a team win. I don't care who you're talking about, no one does it alone and for the most part this team has only just recently started to add players who can really help. I think now we're on the verge of seeing this team win and then no one is gonna be talking about getting rid of Steph.

I'm just putting it out there. If Nate, and Collins can prove they are ready for a broader role they marbs can be flipped to fill another need when his contract is in the final year.

So who is available a year from now?

Nixluva don't lump everyone into the same category. Because I'm in the I hope we eventually win a championship camp I view things differently. I don't hate Steph and do not hold anything against him. I still think it's time to move on from him and go for a younger PG that can grow with our two young big men. Or an older PG that is a true leader and knows how to lead a team. I'm not sure I understand why it constantly means you hate a player if you feel that they need to be replaced.
I just hope that people will like me

No lumping going on here, in fact I think I was fairly limited in how I expressed things. I didn't say everyone or most, just that there are guys that do it and I specifically called out Basketballjones. There is in fact a group of guys who pile on when it comes to Steph. If you aren't in that group then it doesn't apply to you. Those who do it know who they are.

In terms of moving on, we all know that is what will have to happen at some point, but I think people tend to overstate the need to do it right now. Like I said, Nash went to PHX and even at the age of 30 he found himself in a good situation and flourished. I saw no evidence that he can't be part of a winning team here and if that is the case and we don't find a better candidate then he's likely to stay longer. Still we know it's in the best interests of the team to get his replace established.

nix i think the point for some of us is that steph has convinced us beyond a doubt that he will never - ever - ever - be a steve nash. he dosn’t possess the point guard ability that nash has.. so you’re comparing apples and oranges here and it's not valid in m many of our eyes.

I'm not even saying that he's gonna ever play LIKE Nash, but that he could be a productive part of a winning team as this team grows into that level of play. Without a doubt he's been the best all aorund player on this team since he got here. The only reason his stats have been down is by design. When he wants to he can bring it. High points, high assists and last year he also added D. To say that he's not gonna ever be Nash isn't saying anything amazing. How many PG's are like Nash? We just need him to be the best player he can be for this team. When he's doing that he's an extremely effective player.

Let's also remember that Nash went from a great team to a PERFECT team for his skills. His coach turned the team over to him and he was able to fourish. Steph hasn't had EITHER situation in his entire career. So let's keep perspective. To prove how good a team Dallas was they did well even after his leaving. To prove how perfect PHX was for him his stats went up all the way around once he got there. A big part of what makes a good player look better is the luck of being on good teams. This is why Kobe wants to be traded and why Kidd wanted no part of NJ when it looked like they weren't gonna have the commitment to getting better players.

If you put Steph in a situation where he's got shooters and finishers around him he's not gonna fail. That's what is starting to happen on this team. If Nash can play well into his 30's why can't Steph? All i'm saying is that if he has a big season there's not gonna be a rush to get rid of him. Nor should there be. Then we can continue to look for his replacement without any pressure. The only thing that can really stop Steph is his own body. If we can bring along a guy like Mardy to give Steph proper rest, he should be able to play at a high level for a bit longer. This team winning and losing isn't about Steph. It's about the entire TEAM being good enough at every position and as a group.

I believe that people should be judged by what they did not by what we expect them to do.
Steph did nothing helpful for the Knicks. He did nothing helpful for other teams too.
The result of his basketball life is zero. So it is nothing to talk about.
He recognized this lately and start helping people and look for himself in business and entertainment.
He just started and will see what he will leave behind in 5-10 years. So far it's mixed bag.
The only link between Knicks and Steph is Isiah and when one will go so another will go.

I'd be shocked if Crackbury is in a Knick uniform next year, with him being an expiring contract Isiah/new GM?? will look to trade him.
some Knick fans accept mediocrity as excellence .... I don't!

Marbury's go in NY was a waste of well spent money.

Wait............is that a double entendra?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

It's true there are a bunch of haters on here, but it's not just Marbury. Look how the JJ haters hate on Jerome James. It's a crying shame how they hate on James.
