All together now
September 7

Over the next few weeks you’re going to be reading countless reports of NBA teammates getting together well in advance of training camp to work out and sing campfire songs. I keep seeing dispatches from Portland, where most of the roster was apparently reunited over the last week and scrimmaging on a daily basis.

Does it help?

The additional court time certainly doesn’t hurt, but I don’t recall many postseason regulars like San Antonio or Detroit getting together in the summer to build chemistry.

So don’t worry too much about the Knicks losing ground already.

David Lee, Nate Robinson, Quentin Richardson and Eddie Curry were at the MSG Training Facility this morning. Stephon Marbury has been in and out all summer. Jamal Crawford is expected in next week. Zach Randolph and Jared Jeffries are supposedly coming in before the end of the month, too.

We’ll see.

It’s good to see Curry is here under the watchful eye of the coaches and trainers. Starting the preseason in top physical condition would undoubtedly lead to big things. Last season, he definitely hit a wall. And then in the last month, Curry got noticeably better as the legs got stronger.

The media doesn’t get to monitor any of the summer workouts, so we have to rely on team officials for second-hand news.

If Curry doesn't show up in anything but tip top shape this year it's time to trade him asap.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

His value will be a lot lower then than it would have been had we traded him right at the end of or even during his "breakout" season.

I'm disappointed Zach's not there. He was supposedly a gym rat with high basketball dedication according to that other article.

Since when was the MSG facilities the only place one can work out? I'm certain the "Gym Rat" is working out on his own.

He's on a new team. He had one of the highest turnover totals in the league. You'd think he'd want as much time as possible to work with his new teammates in person.

Bonnie, this is the real world. Ideally, we would love all the Knicks to be at the facility all year long but it just ain't gonna happen. Be happy if all the guys shuow up in tip top shape. Could even be that he has a specialized workout going with a particular trainer for his knee throughout the summer.

Some guys work out in CHI, some in Vegas. You heard the KG was running in Vegas right, not Boston?

I said this at the beginning of the Summer. We shouldn't even be caring what is going on right now. It's their Summer vacation from bball, and it's our summer vacation from them. All we should care is that they come to camp in the best shape they can, and that they have bettered themselves somehow, someway.

It's like this throughout the league, and some guys wont even pick up a basketball, by the way, during the Summer. Just ask Walk Frazier. All he did was run and lift weights. Larry Johnson did all of his stuff in Dallas. Other guys work out with players on different teams!

3 more weeks till training camp? Lets see what happens then.

Does this even make any sense? Have you guys just ignored everything that's been reported so far about the players on this team working in out this summer? Why are we even worried about Curry coming to camp out of shape? I don't think that's gonna happen and as far as Zach goes, we just need for him to come in prepared as he's been known to do.

There is a LOT of work left to do with this roster and in camp as far as developing the gameplan and chemistry. A few extra scrimmages aren't gonna change the results that much. I'm sure Isiah has some new things he's gonna show them in Camp and they're gonna need the entire coaching staff to make that stuff stick. The scrimmages are nice, but not the end all be all for teams preparation for the season. Most of the Spurs aren't even in the country during the summer.

as long as he's working hard I'm happy. he's changed my opinion of him since we got him but he's still got a lot to prove to me. I would drastically change my view of him if he showed us that he cared enough to slim down and stay in good shape.

also I remember Q saying at the VSL that he's in better shape than last season, and his back is pain free now.
