as a yankee fan, i feel it is my duty to save the "yankee talk thread" and provide a home for mets fans so they can converse. so to all you overlapping N/Y fans...you're welcome.

MEET THE METS,
MEET THE METS,
Step right up and greet the Mets!
Bring your kiddies,
bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
because the Mets are really sockin' the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!
East side,
West side,
everybody'd coming down
to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town!

Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
Oh, they're hollerin' and cheerin' and they're jumpin' in their seats,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
All the fans are tru to the orange and blue,
so hurry up and come on down -
'cause we've got ourselves a ball club,
The Mets of New York town!
Give 'em a yell!
Give 'em a hand!
And let 'em know your rootin' in the stand!

it's humiliating to me to see the mets going down burning while some team like the chicago scrubs are just five games behind them. What a bad time to suck!
I'll never trust this' team again.

sheesh dj, the least you could do is create a compelling headline for a compelling team:

how about....?

1. The Mets owe their demise to the permanent curse of Nolan Ryan and his cousin Scott Kazmir

2. Yo, we're still in first freakin' place, but Mets just gotta beat freakin' Tim Hudson tonight or I'm jumpin' off a ledge in Midtown Manhattan

3. What Has Omar Minaya Done for anyone lately?

4. Willie Randolph Is In Over His Head Because He Doesn't Use His Bullpen Like I Would, Wait hold up, the Mets Just Won Again...my bad.

5. The Braves Mets Labor Day Series Will Make or Break The Entire Season Because...

kinda like THAT yo....

this is a great season to be a mets fan...considering how the stadium was empty in august & september last year 15 games up, now mets fans are watching every pitch of every inning. in fact, this may be one of the best baseball seasons in a while.

that's why this is my favorite yankee season since 2001 as they have been the hunter this year and not the hunted.

Let's not forget this guy. He's the "cowbell guy"! I actually known the guy all my life and worked with him for 5 years. Nice guy. Saying he loves the mets is a gross understatement.

This is so typical- we need a YANKEE fan to start a Met thread! Have we no self repect?
BTW- I was at a game at Shea sitting upper box when some douchbag pulled out his own cowbell, to the dismay of those seated around him. Needless to say, he attacked the instrument gracelessly and without any semblence of rhythmn. After everyone in our section had told him to blow himself, he still played the thing until yes, COWBELL MAN himself appeared and straightend out the situation with security.
As for our Mets- Girls- please- we know how we lost those 4 games- it was ugly- but- we have the best team- AND we're ahead of everyone by 2 games- I remember the fans had more optmism in 98 when we were behind the whole time and didn't even make it- This was a wake up call- and now I think we're angry enough to go kick Atlanta into the abyss. Philly will lose on their own. The last two games were ugly flukes- but they will smarten us up as a team GO METS
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

The Mets will bounce back. They needed this more than anyone thinks. If this doesn't wake them up and light a fire under their butts -- nothing will. It all starts with a bounce back sweep of Atlanta. Far fetched? Sure. Just you wait.

Sounds like you know some inside intel... a Tim Donaghy surprise perhaps? That the games are fixed?

Ever since 2001 DBacks-Yanks i've suspected Bud Selig himself telling BK Kim to grease a few balls to Brosius and Jeter.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I was just concerned. I mean five' loses in a row for a good team like this is a bit much, don't you think? This is the second time this season they've gone into a slump. It could very well happen in the playoffs for an early exit. The point being, it's not a good sign. To win it all, usually the team that does it, has virtually a consistent winning season. If they lose the one their playing right now, be worried.
I'll never trust this' team again.

that's why King Omaahhh calls Pelfrey untoucable. Just down right filthy.

Was that a slurve he was throwing?? I know he used to throw a curve ball before this year, whatever it was it was good

is it just me or does Pelfrey's motion have a striking resemblance to the mechanics of Nolan Ryan?

I watched Ryan as a rookie from the upper deck at Shea, right behind the plate. Great seat. Nolan threw aspirin until his blisters started barking.
