Knicks' Randolph Morris charged with reckless driving

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — New York Knicks player Randolph Morris was arrested in Lexington early Tuesday and charged with reckless driving, a court official said.

Morris, a former center for Kentucky, signed with the Knicks in March, just days after playing for Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.

He was arrested by Lexington police at 3:10 a.m. ET, District Court Deputy Clerk Glenda Walls said. He was released on a $100 bond, but had a court appearance scheduled Tuesday afternoon, she said.

The 6-foot-11, 260-pound Morris declared for the 2005 draft but was not chosen. That meant when he returned to Kentucky he was a free agent.

The other thread should be deleted because he wasn't convicted he was charged and I made a mistake in stating that in the title thread.

Mods do as you may but delete one these threads. Sorry for the wreckless posting.

Please. Sounds like vengeful Kentucky cops, pissed off that he didn't return for another year.

17 miles over the speed limit? That's 2 miles over what's "acceptable". He'll be able to argue that down easily - say the radar gun wasn't properly calibrated.
Not signaling on an off ramp in Lexington Kentucky, in the middle of nowhere with no other cars on the road in the middle of the night? :)

Sounds like the cops were bored.

Where did it say he was driving 17 over the speed limit? If that's the case, it does sound like the cops were bored.

However, on the other hand, my good friend lives in Charlotte, and he got ticketed twice for going 5 over the limit, so I guess anything is possible nowadays.

Where is Eddie Griffin to explain to the cops what breaking the law is really about?

Anji, on Long Island, the Speed limit on the parkways/expressways are 55 MPH. Going 70 is the absolute norm and you still get blown by plenty of times doing that. It all depends on what gets stressed to the cops in each neighborhood/state.

Lets be real, a 20 year old kid driving a real nice car is profiled.

And perhaps that speeding fine cars at 3am are generally good cause for a cop to pull them over. They often find Dui or drugs.

I don't know what kind of car he was driving, but you speeding, its late, your getting pulled. Black, white, old, young, man women, your generally up to no good.

And if your not, then your ok. But you still speeding!

My wife got a ticket in Virginia a few weeks back driving my sons Subaru outback. Not tricked out, no greatful dead stickers or performance enhancements, just a plain vanilla 2002 outback driven by a women going 11 miles over the limit. She was over the limit, so there you have it.

Yeah I know, I drive for a living right now. But you have to know that the cops can give you a ticket for everything over 5 mph. They are absolutely being jerks when they give one for anything between 10 and 5, but it's your fault for everything 10 and over.

It's mostly quotas and personal stuff with a lot of the cops went it comes to tickets.....

tecnomaster - I've BEEN to Lexington Kentucky and driven its main drag. Five dollars sez the cops were still pissed that Randolph left school after the "controversial" Tubby Smith, who never won enough to make the self-entitled fans happy.

17 MPH sounds like a case of DWB to me
