WIth some possible starting lineups we can get a clue at what these teams will be putting on the floor this year. These teams look very competitive with each other.

Bos NJ Clev Mia Det Chi Tor NY Orl Wash
KG VC LBJ Wade CB Kirk Bosh Zach DH Arenas
PP RJ LH Shaq Rip Deng TJ Eddy RL Antawn
Allen Kidd BigZ Smush RW BG AB Steph JN Caron
KP Krstc SP UH TP BW AP Q KD DS
Rondo JC DG EJ Nazr TyT Garbo JJ2 TBat Etan

Man is this gonna be a dog fight this year. Then you have the teams that are a bit on the outside of this group also looking better than last year. The East is making a strong case for itself this year.

Which team does not belong?

Again, its hard to get a great read on paper, but, we might be fighing for fourth place in our own division.

I think Knicks 8-10 is reasonable.
With 8 is a huge success and 9 or 10 a huge failure

Sorry, I was just trying to make it fit. There was a lot of spacing issues. I thought that for the most part we know the major players on each of these teams.

It's gonna be a real tough fight to get a playoff spot. It makes it even more likely that Isiah will feel pressure to go after Artest. I already felt that he was gonna make a run at him, but now it seems almost a sure thing. It's a risky move, but he almost has no choice at this point. Like DJ has been saying, the teams in the East are going "ALL IN". Isiah can do that and still have some good youth on the roster, so even tho i'm not that high on taking on Ron, I can see Isiah doing it. it's the one move that could push this team closer to the top in the East. If you're gonna take a chance, he's the kind of guy that is your prototypical High Risk/High Reward players.

Boston would be tough but as of now I don't see it anywhere about this being official. Besides if this deal does go down I think NY would have to counter this deal with Artest.

based on history, and level of players, the following teams should be locks for the playoffs:

bos, det, cle, chi, nj

that leaves 3 spots. if miami is healthy, you have to put them in there.

that leaves 2 spots between the following: tor, wiz, ny, mil, orl, cha

what does this mean "counter with artest"? are they giving up david lee to get ron ron? i dont think thats a smart move, trading a 23 yr old who has the potential to lead the league in rebounding for the next decade.

I don't think any of the proposed deals include Lee. This isn't a deal that we will likely have to give up any of our top players. Ron only makes 7.5mil.

JJ2 is not playing for us
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I'm not endorsing this, but Artest for Jones, Dickau and Balkman is a strong possibility. It works salary wise once the restrictions on trading Jones and Dickau expire at the end of August.

OK, break it down to the division;

Nets Philly Boston Knicks
1 Kidd 1 Andre M 1 Rondo 1 Steph
2 Vince 2 Korver 2 Allen 2 Craw
3 R Jeff 3 Iggy 3 Pierce 3 Q
4 Sean Will 4 Thaddeus 4 Perkins 4 Zach
5 Nenad 5 Dalembert 5 KG 5 Curry
Sub:Marcus Sub:LWilliams Sub:TAllen Sub:Lee

All these teams are pretty even, but you gotta like our bench against any of these teams.

Knicks versus boston:

Kendric Perkins can't stop curry and the refs will allow curry to bull Perkins cuz he is the same size as curry. KG can't double off of zach. Marbs will man handle rondo all day. Ray can't guard craw either. On defense marbs owns ray Allen, lmao. Craw plays quicker guys better. Now if isiah gets artest, then the knicks win the Paul pierce match-up cuz artest is gonna be on PP like a trojan. Niice!!!!

The nets: krstic will be back and he is gonna be playing PF with the Eddy killer playing for the m now. Vince is Vince, rj, and kidd are still on point. They are probably better than the knicks now, but if artest comes the playing field totally evens put!

Toronto: the battled a weak knick team all year. What are they gonna do about zach? No way that team can guard curry and zach. Bosh will get worn put playing double defense. If the knicks had artest, that's the ball game cuz artest will lock anybody at the 3 on that team and his scoring will either get him off or someone else.

The knicks have to take care of the lesser teams this year. They can't have let down games after big time wins.

4th in the east? I think the knicks are probably 3rd cuz I believe they are gonna be better than Toronto.

I'm looking for Miami, Indiana and clevland to drop. The bucks, Atlanta and Orlando are gonna bail too!

Call me homey in honor of the simpsona movie. Knicks will see the post season this coming year!!!

Without Artest dream how we will guard any of this teams starters?
Our starters will be outscored in double digits any given night.
No question our bench will cut it to single but then starters will come up again...
You are a dreamer...
KG is one of the best help defenders - he will give NO rebounds to Eddy/Zuck slow train and will block and still from them at will.
Marbs/Craf will defend Allan... LOL He will shoot over then all night long.
Q/JJ2 will defend Pierce?
All 3 Boston starters need double to contend them - we cannot single cover.
Come on...

Akrud, have you been talking to Chicken Little?

Its going to be a battle, but Zach's going to get rebounds against anybody if you've watched him.

We have wing defenders to contend with teams like Boston now with Balkman, Q, Chandler and Mardy. You could play those guys at the same time if you wanted to.

We'll be on the level with these teams, but it would have been nice to have Boston to roll over all season.

dude, you're not serious. You are not stopping the wing combination of Pierce (all-star slasher) and Allen (best NBA shooter).
And KG may be the second (or third?) best all-round big man in the game after Duncan.
Put the koolaid down.

The Celtics already had Pierce and Allen but they had to trade for KG just to get to the Knicks level?

You been dipping into Starbury's personal stash?

As of now, Boston, toronto and of course NJ are way better than the Knicks. philly and knicks are probably in the same level.

Knicks will still have problems defending the perimeter game and the oppsoing teams guards.

kidd/jefferson/carter have always killed us over the last 6yrs.

allen/Pierce will have a field day against us every time they face us.

The combination of Calderon/Tj Ford and Parker isn't too shabby

Miller/new A.I will give us problems as well.
