I think the veteran is either Zach, Curry, or Marbury. Boy does this set the tone on our season and why in the **** would any of our players be speaking so openly about this situation in such manner. If Stern sees this I'm sure he'll file this away

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19983701/site/newsweek/page/0/
For years, players (and coaches, and sports journalists and NBA fans) have complained about shoddy officiating in the pro game. But NBA Commissioner David Stern has always taken a hard line on such critiques, issuing stiff fines and threatening suspension for anyone who shoots off at the mouth. At the same time, several players feel the league has done far less to protect them from wayward refs—and even less to contradict the public perception of some athletes as troublemakers. In light of that environment, some players tell NEWSWEEK that the Donaghy case feels like a reckoning long overdue. “You know with Stern, it’s all about we, the players, being wrong and having issues,” says one New York Knicks veteran player, who requested anonymity because he feared reprisal from the league. “We’re typically the bad guys, while others around us do what the hell [they want] with no punishment.” (Stern had no comment, other than to refer a reporter to his comments at Donaghy, says this player, was a glaring example.

(According to NBA guidelines, league referees are not even permitted to set foot in a casino.) On the hardwood, Donaghy had a reputation among players as one of the league’s most combative officials, and indeed, he issued more technical fouls than any other referee during the past season. And yet he never received more than a slap on the wrist from the league. “You’d have to be blind not to have seen that this guy had issues,” says the Knicks player. “We’d all heard about the run-ins he had with the people in his neighborhood.”

"And at least one player believes that there are more dirty refs out there who haven’t been caught yet. “The league is big, but word gets around about who may be on the level and who isn’t,” says the Knicks player. “Many times I can predict what kind of night I’m going to have by who the refs are. I’m not saying they are all crooked—but [Donaghy] ain’t the only one, and that’s for sure.”

OK. Well who was it? It wasn't Marbs. It doesn't sound like him. It sounds like a vet. Could it be Q-Rich?

Sounds like Q or Curry. I like to guess Malik too. Donaghy appears to have the biggest issue with post players. Barkley said after the airline ticket scandal that most refs are cheats and cheap. He was fined but I think it is a normal reaction to what has happen. The Sterns and Breens deserve a shot after their protective stance over referees. I wonder if the Rockets, Knicks and Lakers can get back some of that money that Stern collected on behalf of his referees' integrity. LOL, before Stern does anything else he should send out personal apologies to a lot of people. I know Rasheed would be glad to hear from him on the matter.

ah ha! This guy whomever it is either wants to get traded or didn't get some from his wife last night to go off and go on record like this.

This is immediate fine and trade for one of dolan's boy to scream this loud.

Will dolan make the team take a lie detector test administered by Isiah himself.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

^I agree with you Bip, and that's why I'm hoping it's just Jerome James.

MARBURY predicted he would have 12 points, 10 assists and whatever rebounds.

Plus its not Jerome James...its someone who has been exposed or has access to media. Marbury is on his "sneaker trail" right now and he is a publicity whore.

Jerome James cant predict anything because he is not in the game enough to even know what the refs are gonna call on him.

Yeah, but Marbury wouldn't be smart enough to have his name unrevealed. Malik doesn't make up excuses, nor does Q-Rich, so it can't be them. So if it's a vet, it looks like you can choose from Curry, Zach, Jefferies or Jerome James.

I don't know who it is and I won't speculate, but that line is very disturbing. It's a nightly excuse. But it would explain a lot.

when it's those refs that wear gray shirts and black pants and have whistles jerome knows they'll call a lot of fouls on him

Typical New York Knicks lately.....

Start a brawl, and then defender yourself in the media and make an even bigger ass out of yourself, Nate

Get waxed and Chicago and try to start another fight because your unprofessional......

You play in a leauge that rewards self promoting dip ****s, your all overpaid you have been in the lottery for the past three season and your team sucks

You make a public comment that puts fuel on the fire when the league is at it's most vulnerable.....

But I guess it's sterns fault that he is the best commisioner in pro sports and tries to make a bunch of thugs around the leauge remove 100k chains, sunglasses and stupid hats and dress more professional like Jordan, Magic, Pippen, Clyde etc used to do. But I guess it's racist to preserve the integrity of the league and ensure fans keep coming and the game keeps growing and these babies get their millions and max deals, then whine after they sign them force buyouts because they try to sabatoge the organization, and generally dog it only to go to other teams and be inspired again......

I don't know if it's q, but I would be willing to bet it's Curry, who still thinks he got jobbed in the allstar voting, according to magic another idiot, as well as Marbury and the rest of his teammates that in typical fashion believe it's all about numbers.....

Excuses and lack of professionalism is all this team is about, make comments like a man or don't make them at all.

I actually think it was Allan Houston. This would explain why he never played D.

I agree MS. It was a stupid time to make the comment. You're in a league that's starting to struggle, and you spit in it's face by making up screwed up comments. If I were Stern, I would go to Dolan and say "I demand to know who made these comments so that I can talk to this guy and ask him who he thinks these dirty refs are, so I can investiage. If you don't give me a name, I'll punish you the way I punished the Timberwolves when they went behind our backs and signed Joe Smith to that illegal contract."

Yeah, but it makes more sense if it was Ward, b/c now we know why Ward was too scared to ever take it to the hole.

Oh it's getting files away by STern, you better believe it. We won't be making the playoffs yet again this yr. The comments come from an offensive minded player.

I agree.
If player is on losing team just keep your mouth shoot
When team will start winning and be into it each game then you talk
No winning - no credibility...

BTW, a vet = someone who has played for at least 2 seasons, so for all we know, it could be David Lee.
