fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Interesting take, BRIGGS. Dunno if Isiah would cut James with 3 years left (including '07-08) on his deal, but how the Knicks plan to thin out the roster is still a mystery to me. I think Fred Jones is more likely to be cut. Sure he's athletic, yeah, but here does he fit in? I am guessing Isiah is trying to see if there are any deals he can make to help decrease the roster size before they are required to have 15 players.

I thought Dikau might have had a shot at making the team for a sec, even though I'd like to see Collins get the minutes as a backup 1 (assuming he's healthy), but Nate has now made Dan even more expendable. Problem is that Dikau has an ending deal, which makes him somewhat valuable. However, Isiah showed us last off-season that his "obsession" with ending deals is a myth, when he cut ties with Taylor and Rose. I think it's more worth it to cut Dikau and keep guys like Morris and Nichols then to hold on to his pretty small contract for a chance at that helping trade for a star.

I think it's more likely we see a 9 man rotation with Q getting closer to 25, and Chandler riding the pine.

In fact Jeffries may get some PT as well, but I'm not sure how the minutes get worked out then.

I agree with the big men and Forwards, but Marbury 25 minutes??? And there's no way Collins gets 18 mins at the same time Robinson gets 20/25.
We better clean the roster a bit before we give the players the minutes per game.

Well, one thing that is happening is that several of our young players value is increasing from Summer League, which can only help Isiah's chances of making a deal if he wants to gut the roster a bit...for better or for worse.

still not sre about the jefferies hate-athon.

he's in the mix, nate and collins' minutes will be eaten by q at the 2 and balkman won't see as much time as the summer league suggests.

if this is a wish list, i'm almost on board, but jeffries jumper was equal to balk and lee, and he brike his wrist to start the season.

he still takes charges and mans the zone defense best of the bunch.

if he sucks in preseason...he's traded, but what i've seen i'm impressed enough to want him in there for man defense over nate, lee and balk. (that's man to man defense)
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

with morris showing some solid fundamentals i can't see james making the team.

I doubt we can run a three man rotation at Prower Forward and Center, no team can.

I think it would be
Curry 32
Zach 32
Lee 22
James/Rose/Morris 10(not all, just one of them, another on the bench and last could be cut)
Balkman 21
Q 25
Crawford 30
Marbury 30
Nate 18
Collins 14
JJ2

IR-Nichols
IR-Chandler

Cut Jones or Rose/James & Dick

I'll predict the min I think Isiah will give
C Curry-36
F Zach-38
F Malik-4 with many DNPs
F Lee-22
F Q-Rich-28
F Jeffries-10
F-Balkman-20
G-Collins 10 with many DNPs
G Crawford-34
G Starbury-35
G Nate-15 with many DNPs
GF-Chandler-8 with many DNPs

The min add up to more than 240 because players will get injuries and won't play in every game.

Curry has never played 36 mpg. His minutes probably stay at around 31.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I think Curry was around 35 last year.

Because of injuries I think this will play out

Curry-34
Zach-34
Lee-30
Marbury-30
Craw-34
Qrich-25
Nate-18
Balk-20
Nichols-10
Mardy-10
Chandler-10

James, Malik, Morris, Jeffries very little

Center = Curry about 35 mins/ Zach will get at least 8 minutes here, and JJ2 could see about 5 mins here when Isiah goes small. (keep in mind, a line up of JJ2, Lee and Zach could all be on the floor at the same time for short stretches and all are interchangable which makes labeling, PF, SF and Center irrelevant.)

PF = Zach at least 26 minutes at PF (with an additional 8 mins at Center which would give him about 34 mins per game)
PF = Lee will get the remaining mins at PF (22) with perhaps some spot duty at SF (5) which would give him about 28-29 mins per night.

SF = Q will get about 20 mins here. 22 mins remain (if Lee gets 5 mins here aswell) to split between Balk (15) and JJ2 (7)(plus 5 at center which would give him 12 mins per night)

SG = Craw will start and get about 34 mins per. Q slide in at times and get about 5 mins (25 altogether for Q). The remaining 9-10 minutes will go to Nate.

PG = Marb will get about 34 aswell. The remaining 14 to Mardy.

Also, the injury factor will play a big role especially concerning Q who will certainly miss time this year. That should also up Balks minutes at certain points and maybe some spot duty for Chandler/Nichols at some point.

If Nate plays anything like he is now I think he may get more than 10 minutes.

I think it depends on how well he is playing. If he's hot, you ride him which will cut into Mardy's minutes, if he's off, you yank him.

Here's my take:

Curry - 33 minutes
Randolph - 33 minutes
Lee - 28 minutes
Rose - 4 minutes with a few DNPs
Morris - 0-4 minutes (mostly DNPs unless someone gets hurt)
Q - 26 minutes will likely miss some games
Balkman - 18 minutes (will get more if Q gets hurt)
Jeffries - 12 minutes
Crawford - 30 minutes
Marbury - 33 minutes
Nate - 13 minutes
Collins - 10 minutes
Fred Jones - 0-5 minutes (mostly DNPs until someone gets hurt)
Dan Dickau - 0-5 minutes (mostly DNPs until someone gets hurt) With Nate playing well, Dan likely to be cut if IT cannot work out a trade.

Reserve
James (will be cut)
Nichols (should be sent to d-league)
Chandler (should be sent to d-league)

Get rid of Nate, don't be fooled by him schooling Summer League players. The Knicks have enough scorers and need a player who actually thinks before he does something.
some Knick fans accept mediocrity as excellence .... I don't!
