5.) eddie lee wilkens- probably the main reason ewings health failed later. since he did not have a legit backup because of this bum, he had to log MAJOR minutes and wear and tear on his knees. the biggest waste of space.

4.) shandon anderson- you want to talk about overpaid, layzie sure over paid this stiff. he brought NOTHING to the knicks though he was paid as a legit starter. when we FINALLY got rid of him he continued to float around and do nothing on other teams.

3.) howard eisley- one of the worse point guards i have ever seen on this team. he does nothing good and again, thanks to layzie, he was getting starter money for his work. he stunk up the court and his shotty shooting and passing ability was the worse.

2.) clarence weatherspoon- it is amazing that this list came from the layzie era. weatherspoon was an overrated bum who floated from team to team and came to ours and did NOTHING. he occasionally rebounded, provided no offense or defense. he was basically a waste of space ( a LOT of space). it seems like his talent was eating as many nathan hot dogs you can before a basketball game since it looked like he was getting fatter and fatter. i guess when people compared him to barkley, he wanted to take the round mound part literally.

1.) charles smith- i know some people defend him, but i don't care. sure he was fouled during the infamous moment in the playoffs but he could have taken it up strong instead of powderpuff soft. people think frye is soft, this guy was the softest. he was punked down constantly by grant and even that punk pippen. it wouldn't suprise me if someone said that smith was scared of b.j. armstrong. the only thing good about charles smith was his contract we traded for cap room to get childs and houston.

Tony Campbell leads my list on guys in the last twenty years. He had no interest in playing while he was a Knick. He let down Riley big time. He was a natural offensive player who didn't even try to bring his game to the Knicks. Oh yeah Greg Anthony of course.

Bonn, good point. If we're gonna talk about the general fan base, people seem to boo Houston a lot too, when he's making appearances at the garden and stuff. That contract alone changed everything.

We have been over this over and over. It wasn't the contract but what the contract made him and how injury prone he was just 2 years after his contract year.

I dont ever hate any of the Knicks. I just dont get that hate my own team mentality. I did not like Marburys attitude for years but never hated the guy. I did want to trade Sweetney and Tim Thomas but I never hated them.

booing doesn't necessarily mean hate. for the most part it means disappointment.

there were also the whole anti-sematic sentiments he echoed from charlie ward.

charles smith has ALOT of venom aimed towards him...but i can't be mad at him. he was a PF that was made to play (out of position) at SF and his knees were on the decline. under the scrutiny of ny and it's media/fans, it was doomed before it could even begin. the only saving grace from that deal was doc rivers.

I guess that was his fault. He was one of the most durable players in the league before the surgery.

DJ, you're right that the anti sematic remarks were pretty bad, but I rarely hear that being referred to. It's either the contract or the injury.

maybe from media and fans, but when you refer to boos at the garden, a good percentage of season ticket holders are of jewish heritage...

IDK. Maybe if a player is booed once, I could see that. But when they're intensely booing every time the player comes into or out of the game for every game for several months, it seems like more than just disappointment.

I remember that game on Christmas night. King had 40 at halftime. Thought he was going for 70. Nets put a longer defender on him (can't remember his name)King had trouble getting his shot off over his long arms. Also. whats forgotten about that game is Sugar Ray Richardson had about 40 pts and double figure assists in that game. Nets also won.
