With all this Artest talk, why not go after Shawn Marion? The guy is perfect for this team at the 3, not to mention he knows how to win and doesn't need the ball on offense but can hit the open shot. He can guard 3's or we can shift him to the 4 if Eddy and Zach are getting abused on the block. The Suns are looking to cut some cap right?

What about Malik, Dickau, Fred Jones, R Morris, and Balkman for Marion. That gives them a ton of cap relief and a guy that would absolutely THRIVE in that system in Balkman. I think he'd give them just as much to tell you the truth and with his ballhandeling and speed in that system it would work wonders. If they demand it throw in a pick (proteccted of course).

This is of course DJ's all in strategy but it trims the roster and gives us a legit shot. Not to mention we add a guy that's not a headcase.

Marbury, Collins
Crawford, Q
Marion, Chandler
Randolph, Lee
Curry, Lee

That's a very solid 9 man rotation. Jefferies, Nate, Jerome James don't see any time unless Jefferies really did improve over the summer - if so, swap him with Chandler.

I think you're on the right track, but this is Shawn Marion we're talking about. If Phoenix trades Marion, they will want space, but they will also want to be sure they won't make their team any worse. They want a championship.

At a minimum, you'd have to add David Lee to that trade. Even with that, I'm not sure they're trading Marion in any deal that doesn't have Kobe or Garnett coming back.

how about Curry, Balk & the expirings for Marion? it would give the Suns another young big body down low, someone who would flourish in their run & gun system in Balkman, along with some expirings... the Knicks get a 2 way Allstar calibre player at the 3... Marion has a big contract but it expires the same year Marbury's does.

TMS, your trade is very possible. While I'm not a big fan of undersized teams, a lineup of Zack, Lee, Marion, Crawford and Marbury is very powerful and could possibly win the east.

Marion would be a great guy to have, I'm just not sure A. he'd be happy being the 3rd or 4th wheel here or B. we have the pieces to get him.

yeah, it's more balanced no doubt... a big concern of mine w/this new front court is the complete lack of shotblocking as was the case last year... Marion would provide that out of the 3 spot & provides rebounding, scoring, defense & can knock down an open 3... the thing about him & Marbury not liking each other is a concern tho... would Isiah bring him in here? would those guys be able to get along & bury the stuff that's been said in the past? i think if Phoenix would be open to accepting that package, then the other issues could take care of themselves... even though it's somewhat undersized, you have 3 strong rebounders in the front court if you make that trade... if you start Q at the SG, that makes 4 guys who will grab their fair share of boards.

Umm, b/c we have no shot at getting him?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Plus, I don't think he's worth it. Marion is on a performance enhancer called Stevenashazone only available in the AZ. Without Nash, he won't be the same player.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

I like Marion, but I don't like the idea of giving up significant younger player(s) for an older player. Basically, it depends on the price.

He was a 20/10 player before he played with Nash

Lee has a limited role on this team. You think Curry's a franchise player, while I think he's a role player who does one thing well and sucks at everything else. It's not surprising we won't agree on trades involving them. If you can pull off the Marion trade without giving up Lee, that would be outstanding, though.

The suns are looking to do something. Why I dunno. They need to stop playing and try to get dalembert or something like that. Philly just drafted a center right?

3 way possibility:

Philly trades dalembert, korver, carney and olie to pheonix

Pheonix trades Marion, James Jones, and piakoski to ny

Ny sends malik, Jerome, Fred, and dickau to Philly.

Pheonix gets a shotblocker, olie the vet pg and a small fwd prospect.

Knicks get a guy that can do it all at the 3 with a 3pt specialist in Jones.

Philly gets their money back to make a better splash in the future than dalembert.

Yummy for my tummy.

That's a good trade, but James Jones now plays for Portland.

I would look to trade curry straight up to dallas for josh howard- I think they might entertain that deal after getting pushed around by a smaller GS team.

I don't believe Marion would be a good fit for this team. At least not with both Curry and Randolph here cause we're never gonna be running and thats where Marion thrives. It kinda reminds me when brang in Doug Christie(I know he doesn't have near the talent of Marion) and he just didn't fit in on the team.
