The Candidates;

Dan Dickau - via buyout
Fred Jones - via buyout
D. Nichols - via D-League assignment
Nate + player X via 2 for 1 trade
Morris + player X via 2 for 1 trade
Lee + player X via 2 for 1 trade
Balkman + player X via 2 for 1 trade
Collins + player X via 2 for 1 trade

We basically need to do two of these things in order to trim the roster. I'm not putting the other players up there, because there's no scenario where we could ditch JJ, or JJ2, or Malik without trading one of the youngin's.

I'd almost rather trade Lee and one JJ for Battier or that level of player rather than what we would get back for something else. I'd think Dickau is as good as gone as well.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If you have been following the N.Y. Knicks chain of events...Its not that "cut & dry".

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. I've always liked Hilton Armstrong and think he'd be great on the Knicks coming off the bench backing up the 4 and the 5 spots - I wonder if New Orleans would make him available in a trade (it looked like he was in Byron Scott's doghouse last year a little bit last season and they're definitely commited to Chandler and West, plus they might also favor Cedric Simmons over Armstrong as the primary backup big man). I'm not sure that he's worth Lee, but maybe the Hornets would be interested in players like Morris, Nate, Balkman or Collins. I mean we lost out on Sean Williams, but this kid's similar (might actually have a more developed overall game). Athletic and a very good shotblocker. What do ya think?

I don't think anything needs to be decided right now. I also think Nichols may play more than Chandler next year. I would vote for buying out Jerome James. I think the rest will work itself out.

i think at least chandler will end up in the d-league. that would mean maybe one buyout.

now that we have Fred Jones who can back up at SG, we can have Jamal play more at PG & get rid of Nate. Dickau will probably get bought out or traded as well. Nichols can be optioned to the NBDL so he gets some playing time until someone gets injured & opens up some playing time for him here.

fred jones is important b/c of only one thing - he's an expiring deal.

i don't see how fred jones game fits with a zach/curry offense since he's not a good jumpshooter. i think nate fits better than fred jones.

he's a better defender than Nate, & Nate is not a PG either... i much prefer having Jamal seeing more minutes as a PG & having Jones & Mardy come off the bench backing up our backcourt guys.

thing with Jones is he will defend.

with a front line of Zach and Curry gonna need guys out there on the wings to defend against penetration in the halfcourt as well as play transition D cuz most teams will definetely win the frontcourt track meet.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

but with fred jones and let's say jeffries/balkman out there, teams can collapse on the interior. none of our perimeter defenders are 2 way players which makes things very difficult. even bowen is somewhat automatic from 3.

Jerome James should never suit up in a Knicks uni ever again. Malik is no longer necessary here as well.

thats 15 right there.

We have to Cut players, because you have to wait a couple of months to trade players unless youdo it within three days of getting them. I would Cut JJ and Dick.

i dunno which is easier to stomach:
watching the bricks but at least NY gets back or say watching Tyrus and Noah pull down boards get it to Gordon or Kirk in transition then beat every Knick back to finish the break off with highlight reel dunks

does anyone know when the roster needs to be trimmed? And, if our draft picks go to the d league, do they count against the 15 limit?

We just got 2 wing players in the draft- and we got 2 guards in this trade- to me, the most likely scenario is a package involving some combo of Crawford, Nate, Q, JJ2, Balkman, Jones & Dickau.

i guess we'll find out which will be the lesser of two evils.

it will be very intersting to see how we play on both ends of the court b/c right now, it's kind of unclear.

i like malik, but there is no longer a need for him.
jerome james can now go as well.

nate is a keeper, he's pretty good from the 3.
dick and fred won't be playing as knicks this year as they are surely here to be part of a sign and trade, nobody moves expiring contracts like zeke. lol

don't dick, fred and rose account for about $16 mill in expiring contracts?
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I hope that there's another trade coming versus more buyouts. The young guys are the personality of the team though. ...tough call.

Dleauge players count as a roster spot. But think we have to tri the roster in the perseason, but since we did this trade and the end of June, this players Zach/Dick/Jones can be traded in 60 days before we have to make cuts. Zach for Noah and filler.......... Cut Dick/Jones/JJ/Rose, sign watts.

Lee should not be a candidate to go anywhere.
