Randolph, a
6-foot-10 forward who averaged 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds last season, brings a litany of problems:

1995: 30 days in juvenile detention for shoplifting.

High school: 30 days of house arrest for battery; 30 days in juvenile detention for receiving stolen property, a gun.

2002: Arrested for underage drinking.

2003: Suspended by the Trail Blazers for punching teammate Ruben Patterson in practice and breaking his eye socket.

2003: Arrested in Portland for driving under the influence of intoxicants and marijuana.

2004: Accused by police of lying in an investigation of his brother shooting three men in an Indiana nightclub.

2006: Suspended by the Trail Blazers for making obscene gestures to fans after a game in Indiana.

2006: Sued by a Portland woman for sexual assault in an incident at a strip club. After a monthlong investigation, prosecutors didn’t file criminal charges. A civil suit is pending.

2007: Left a strip club without paying the bill while he was on bereavement leave from the team.

2007: Earlier this month, police were called to the parking lot of a strip club where Randolph and teammate Darius Miles were part of a gathering and a gunshot was fired.

So why Isiah is OK with it?
He think he turned it around so Zack can also?

His personal issues are the least concerning part of the trade.

If he gets suspended for smoking weed and sexually harrassing and punching teammates and flipping off the crowd, it sure as in hell is a concerning part of the trade.

I think Isiah has a decent chance to reach him.

He has no chance, however, to fix the cap problems, which is my primary concern.

True, but I think there is a better chance that he will behave than there is that the team's cap problems will ever be fixed.

I wouldn't think of doing things now that I did when I was 25. I think people do grow up. I also think that in NY atheletes are so scrutinized that there is less of a chance for someone to think that they can get away with something. I am hoping that Isiah is Zach's entourage. My guess is that he still enjoys his celebrity to some extent. I think it will help Zach to get away from the culture of anarchy and problems that was the Trailblazers during at least part of his tenure there. If you think of the bad guys in the NBA most of them were Blazers during Zachs time there.

Thomas Quotes from the Daily:

The trade moves the Knicks even further away from the perimeter-oriented team many thought they would be at the beginning of last season with Francis, Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford. But Curry became their biggest weapon, averaging a career-best 19.5 points.
With Randolph joining him in the frontcourt, the Knicks have two big bodies in the post.
"We're a power team. We win games by pounding it inside, going to the foul line and rebounding the basketball," Thomas said. "There's no mistake about the type of team we're trying to build. We're a power athletic team. It's safe to say that the ball will be in one of their hands most every time downcourt."

"We definitely want to continue to get better," Thomas said. "My goal is to put together a championship team and to coach in a championship game."
I'll never trust this' team again.

Shoplifting as a juvenile? A couple of accusations that never went anywhere?? Punching a teammate??? Leaving a strip club without PAYING...OH DEAR HEAVENS what will we ever do with this man who lacks a SOUL...A CONSCIOUS...A Shred of dignity. Im just torn up here, I have never heard of such horrible offenses in my life. Just an absolute repugnant, amoral man, that there Zach Randolph.

Dont you guys think you are overplaying this hand just a little?

You left out the one about driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. That crime alone pisses me off. Whenever someone does that, they could kill me, my friends or family, or another innocent person.

Players can turn their lives around (and Sprewell is a decent enough example although he hardly became a saint). It's uncommon, though.
