Do you already know its a bad move? Do you already know its a good one? Are you undecided? Are you leaning in one direction yet still undecided?

because of the cap ramifications, no... talent wise, the Knicks obviously make out, but i'd much rather have stood pat & waited for a chance to go after a talent worth paying out max dollars for.

Thanks for that link. It's a very detailed and well thought out article on how Curry and Randolph might coexist on offense.

I don't think its going to work. I wanted the Francis experiment to work. I'd like this to work.

Rather than get my hopes up, and feel terrible when the season goes horribly wrong- I'm going to be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised if things do work well.

I guess overall I'm optimistic. Cautiously

The Knicks had to upgrade the roster. No way Zeke could go into camp with virtually the same team. For all intents and purposes, last year's squad failed.

This has the potential to blow up in his face, but if things go right this should easily be a high-40s win team. Randolph can ball.

Zeke can further retool.

I chose, I don't like it, but I'll wait and see.

Zach is a great talent and if he can keep his ass in gear, not fight with teammates, as well as decide to play a hair of defense I'll be ok with this deal.

But.. I don't think of that is going to happen, which is why I don't like it.

I like it. Swapping in Randolph for last year's version of Frye is huge. Randolph will be tougher on the boards than Frye, and he's bound to get to the free throw line.

Francis was not a factor for most of the season regardless. Getting something this good for him was unbelievable.

If I had faith In Isiah's team building ability I would like this trade. But I don't have faith in Isiah team building ability. I don't see him balancing out the frontcourt. I see him being content with the redundancy going into next season.

If he were to move Curry and land Camby, Dalembert, Ben Wallace, or Sean Williams then I would love the trade.

No, sir. Don't like it. I think he's going to hamper Lee's and Curry's games. But 23 and 10 don't grow on trees. So, as much as I dislike Z-Bo, I'm gonna give this a chance to work.

No trade that gets rid of Steve Francis (useless and overpaid) and gets you someone you can use who makes your team better is a bad trade.

Two years extra longer contract, but he will still be younger then than Stevie is now.

Didn't people say the same thing about getting rid of Penny Hardaway in exchange for some guard on Orlando with impressive stats?

If you think this is the same deal you're just not looking past the surface similarities.

Zach = Young dominant bigman. Francis = nothing like that.

In fact, i think this settles the debate that Larry Brown called for Francis and Isiah has finally cleaned that mistake up.

What does Zach do more dominantly than Francis before NY?
Score? No
Rebound? Maybe, but not once you consider Francis's stats were as a PG/SG
Pass? No
Defend? No
Block shots? No
Steal the ball? No
Commit sex offense? All right...I'll give you that one.

I'll love this trade IF it results in us moving Curry, because Zach is a more complete player than Curry(because he can rebound, pass at least a little better, shoots a higher ft%, and I haven't watched him play much but his help defense has to be better than Curry's).

This is the first step in the right direction. I think he is a better player than Frye, and we were never getting under the salary cap in ny anyway. I think if we kept Frye in this situation(basically a no win situation for him playing with curry) he would have had some problems with the law himself due to his partying. Hopefully the kid pulls it together in oregon.

I love the trade. I am sorry to see Channing go because I think he is a great guy and I think he will have a very good career. However, I do not think he could ever achieve his potential playing with Curry. I think Isiah stole Randolph from the Blazers. This trade is alot more like the Spreewell trade then the Francis trade. The Knicks gave up less talent, a horrible contract and got one of 5 guys who averaged 20+ and 10. How can you find any fault in it. I get frustrated with fans who say that we will not be able to sign Kobe now. I don't think there was ever much chance of that happening. I also do not think a GM should base all of his moves on what might possibly happen in 2009. I am not a fan of Isiah. I hate what he has done to this team but I do think this was a move that you could not pass on. The only concern is Randolph's character. I think he will do well with Isiah. Isiah is not Larry Brown. He will make this work. As John Nash said, "The coach made this trade."

for what Isiah gave up how can you not like it??

he basically turned a player who looked lost, a bum, and a 08 2nd rounder into a 20 and 10 player, 2 expirings, and a sharp shooter
some Knick fans accept mediocrity as excellence .... I don't!

Brown wanted a lot of players, Francis was the one Isiah was willing to get him.

I think this more so settles the debate that Isiah saw Frye, his primary draft acquisition, as an all-star caliber player, or had any intentions of getting under the cap.
