New York Post - Stephon Marbury said yesterday he'd like to see president/coach Isiah Thomas add another perimeter shooter in the June 28 NBA draft, in which the Knicks hold the 23rd pick.
"It would be great to have a guy like Steve Kerr," Marbury told The Post.
"To get a shooter, somebody like that style of player, that's something you don't have a lot of in the league, shooters like Kerr, Glen Rice. It would be great to get somebody to shoot the ball and keep people honest."

What is Nate Robinson?

You know I think its funny that marbs can give props to Kerr yet Kerr constantly takes shots at the knicks in commentary and in his contributions to yahoo sports.

Finding a glen rice would be ideal though. Maybe rashard Lewis would actually work since that's the type of player glen rice was.

I think Steph is right for the most part, but he could've kept that to himself and Isiah. It seems like Isiah wants to keep teams guessing as to who he is gonna take, which most GM's look to do at this time. I think Morris Almond is the guy, but maybe a Nick Young who has perhaps more upside is more to Isiah's liking. Still the idea that isiah had at the start of having a shooter like H2O and Steph together makes a lot of sense. I like Almond's size and stroke.

Nate can shoot and is a perfect guy off the bench. We need a guy with size tho. Q may not be able to stay out on the floor, tho i'm hopeful that he will. It's best to have someone ready to go, who is strong, healthy and capapble. Another thing is that due to our roster having so many guards and PF's, Isiah may use some of them in a trade to get a vet and also clear up more PT. If he's there I take Almond.

we dont need a type of player, we need *better* players.

We have Nate, Q and Crawford on the roster. Who are we drafting that will play in front of those guys?

Our roster is full.. what we need is better players.

If I can interject--I would say Almond is much more of a pure shooter than Nick Young[Im not saying he's better--he reminds me something of a richrdjefferson 30 pounds lighter --time will tell] I dont think Nick Young will go past 15 because of his athletic ability. On the other hand Almond could drop some because of his supposed weakness at ballhandling and defense. But Like steph said and this is where I agree--we need a *fit* and Almond fits because
a. He IS the best pro shooter in the draft
b. He is much stronger than most guards in the draft with an nBA ready 6-6 225 body
c. He's a very good rebounder for his position
d. he has long arms and a strong body with good athletic ability so defense can become much better in a team concept.
e. He's used to being smothered with double and triple teaming--he wont get that in the NBA
f. He's very smart[yale recruited him] and he *already* knows his role--reference his article at the knick workout. No young arse BS stuff good charachacter 4 year college player.

Also--as I said in a previous post--dont discount jared dudley because if both of those guys are gone--jared dudley can play 2 guard @ 6-7 225 and while not a pure shooter he CAN shoot it very well along with a vraiety of other intangibles.

I wonder if Marbury has been working on his miserable outside shot any? Or if he is hoping that someone else will be there to bail him out.

If Almond is that good- I don't see how he lasts to 23.

I like more the part about the new Steph children book
Let's hope he (or somebody who will write for him) writes better that Steph speaks...

He should help Isiah get a Point Guard........... it would be great to have one of those too.

There are a lot of good players in this draft that will go late. Its unforunate the Zeke decided we needed jefferies and james for the long term.

When you have players like affalo or almond that are there for the taking as defenders at the guard/sf position. Building a contender starts with a lockdown defender at that position.....

We really need to get Almond and have Allan Houston work with the kid. Houston for all his limited faults did a great job of scoring in the flow of the offense. Something we really need from an outside shooter. This is where crawford could really improve his game, when he plays within himself and sets himself he is a good player, unfortunately no coach has really made it a priority to do so

Miserable outside shot? Now you're just criticizing him for the sake of criticizing him.

i think if you read the minds of a lot of his teammates, you'd get something like this:

"It would be great to have a leader like Steve Nash... To have a real leader, that's something you don't have a lot of in the league, leaders like Nash or JKidd. It would be great to get somebody to lead the team and keep people focused on the goal of winning a championship."

How 'bout somebody who can actually negotiate a trade or mid-level exception signing where we don't get fleeced?

Career .325 from 3- last year's .357 near the top for his career? I don't think I'm criticizing him for the sake of criticizing him.

He had plenty of open looks last year- he only started to get hot later in the year.

With as much as he has the ball in his hands, I'd like him to shoot .375 and higher from 3.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

We already have one leader - Mr. Tomes.
It cannot be two leaders on the team
Bad he cannot come back as Michael
He will kicked Eddys ass on multiple occaions...

I guess if a shooter is there you'd have to strongly consider taking him although we need more defensive type players vs shooters. We didn't really have a problem scoring, at least when we were taking care of the ball. That's also another strong need getting a reliable high IQ point gaurd.

36% from 3 pt land is fine. Having the ball in your hands more doesn't make your percentage go up. So I'm not sure what you mean. He was 38% post-all-star break also.
