What were Mike Sweetney's numbers with at least 30 min in his final year?

Thanks Briggs. I think we get caught up in the euphoria of who might be on our team and haven't really taken a look at what we just received, and for free!

Those are some very very good numbers. I was surprised he rebounded and blocked so well.

Forget about the 30 mins- Mike Sweetney average 23-10-3 as a junior.

my point exactly... we can't get caught up in stats that guys put up in college too much, because a lot of times they don't translate to the NBA... guys are so much bigger, faster & stronger in the NBA, that tools that get you numbers at the college level like just having size or athleticism don't carry you anymore. (not saying that's all Morris has, just in general)

I think there is a difference in the programs that Kurt Vs Randolph played on.

But the Sweetney comparison is fine, up to the point that Randolph doesn't appear to be fat.

as jvg said, the only real quality that translate from college to the pros is rebounding.

LOL. How soon do people forget. Mike Sweetney was putting up very good numbers with the Knicks as a starter. His issue was his weight and stamina issues. He would ball for 24 minutes and run out of gas. That's why he could give you a stat line like 18 points and 10 rebounds in one half and 0 points and 1 rebound the second.

So good he wasn't even drafted in the 2nd rd last year on potential when it would have cost teams nothing. Then as a free agent, off of that "monster" season, he nets all of half the LLE from the highest bidder.

Like every other decision maker in the NBA, I don't expect much from him.

that's what you call inconsistency... in other words, we can't fall in love with #'s these kids put up in college because they don't always translate to the NBA level... Frank Williams was putting up good games too in college & in some games as a starter for the Knicks, but he tailed off too.

In all seriousness I think Sweetney given the touches in the post would really put up similiar number to eddy curry if he was on the court for 34 minutes and allowed to get in shape during games like curry was. He would be a real asset to a team like NJ or Was.....

Knicks

April
10pts 6rbs 23mins 7fga

March
8pts 6rbs 20min 7fga

Feb
10.2pts 6.6rbs 22min 6.6fga

I would imagine he would be giving you 15pts 9rbs given the offensive freedom eddy is allowed.....

With both Frank and Sweetney, the issues were probably most related to conditioning. Both players did well when they could stay on the court and in shape and failed miserably when they didn't. I still feel that if circumstances had gone a little differently, and both of those players had stayed in shape, they'd both be starters somewhere, but that's just my view.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The guy reminds me of a young Magloire. Not flashy but very fundamental in his approach. I would surely take him over some of the big stiffs I see listed in this year's mock drafts. That's for sure.

I think Bonns arguement is a little more valid b/c Sweetney has been a bust so far. Kurt Thomas turned out to be a good player and probably would have been better had it not been for his injuries super early in his career.

Regardless of what the numbers are, we need to give Morris a shot.
