If you missed this one Thursday night, you did yourself an epic disservice. Go find someone who TiVo'd or videotaped it, fast-forward to midpoint of the fourth quarter, then sit back and prepare to be awestruck.

This performance was one that'll be talked about for ages, a testament to greatness that'll rank right up there with Reggie Miller's 8 points in 8.9 seconds, Michael Jordan's 63-point coming-out party in the Boston Garden or his "flu game" in Utah, Magic Johnson's 42-point outburst while playing center in Game 6 of the 1980 finals.

"I've been impressed before, but on this stage?" Damon Jones was saying in the Cavaliers' locker room afterward. "Other than some of the things I saw Michael Jordan do in the playoffs, this has to rank right up there in the top 1, 2 or 3."

I mean come on - is this for real? Am i buggin or is that a hell of an overstatement........ how the HELL does this even come CLOSE to comparing to michaels Flu Game in utah, Magics ROOKIE game 6 in the FINALS.... or even our own Isiah Thomas's 25 point forth courter on one leg.........

Lets be real, this guy is amazingly good - but he is SO overhyped it sickens me.... Blow jobs from the media is one thing Lebron is not short on i tell ya jeez!

I don't think it's overhyped necessarily. It is definitely up there in terms of all time playoff performances. While it's not quite Willis Reed or Jordan vs. Utah, I think it's on a par with say Jordan's 63 point game against the Celtics which you still always hear about.

Still, agreed that the media is falling all over themselves to kiss LeBron's ass. Which is even more annoying when you consider they were falling all over themselves to rip him apart just a few days ago for things that weren't worthy of that much criticism. The media is a bunch of overreactive morons basically.

Comparing Lebrons perfomance to Magic and Jordans performance in the finals is a bit much. But Lebrons performance is on par with Reggies performance at the garden, Isiah in the first round aganst the Knicks and even Jordans 63 which was actually a loss.

It was a memorable performance either way you slice it. 29 of his teams final 30. Tough shot after tough shot. It was one of the great playoff performances.

Disagree. People still talk about Reggies performance when he lit the Knicks up for 20-plus on the 4th quater and flashed the imfamous choke sign at Spike. People still speak of Jordans 63 on the Celts and they was swept.

This was one of the great games of all time. No overhype here. He hit almost every shot and scored the last 25 points for his team. The last time a teammate got a bucket was TWO quarters previously, in the fourth. He took over the game. And this is the ECF, a series the Cavs weren't supposed to win, a very unlikely victory, against a team, which is otherwise superior.

And he hit some RIDICULOUS shots. Let's give him credit.

a little perspective.

22 years old.
all the pressure and hype in the world coming into the league.
and he's lived up to them.

made it to the 2nd round last year.
ecf's this year (so far).

is not playing with another perennial all star.

got criticized VERY heavily for his 4th quarter performances in games 1 & 2 and has taken over the 4th in 3 consecutive games (all wins).

the comparisons are to jordan.

the standards are "will he win a title."

the league desperately needs a star player to transcend into mainstream culture.

jordan was able to carry the league not only b/c he was great, but b/c he won championship after championship.

lebron COULD be that guy as he has the charisma, mainstream appeal, and a developing game that may match it.

i will say one thing it is absoltuely amazing that the cavs are where they are that team is really not good at all its a one man show at 22 that is ****ing impressive if lebron ever gets a half way decent player on his team look out.

Let me put it this way, I wouldent want a single player from the cavs on the Knicks besides lebron. Not one player... maybe Verajo but even that doesent appeal that much

Cleveland's roster is not as bad as it looks. They certainly don't have a lot of offensive talent in terms of creating or making shots (besides LeBron of course), but they make up for that a bit by keeping their turnovers down and doing an excellent job on the offensive glass (3rd best in league this season).

On D they definitely follow the defense and rebounding mantra. 4th best defensive team this season, 2nd best overall at controlling the defensive glass.

Basically while they are weak on perimeter offense they get by with LeBron's talent and they have a really effective overall defense and rebounding frontcourt. They are kind of similar to the Larry Brown/Iverson Sixers team that made it to the Finals.

Don't know about that. If you go with their main core, I would take Gooden over Frye in a heartbeat (and I'm not a Gooden fan either), Hughes over Crawford (but not by a wide margin, either) and Sasha or Marshall would also be nice pieces.

But, overall, yes, what Cleveland's doing is very impressive. Outside of LeBron, their starting core is somewhat below other teams, but LeBron brings them up and they're winning right now. All the credit to LeBron for that.

Some people are on ****ing drugs.....the cavs are ****ing terrible......Lebron is taking them to the finals, the knicks have been what twice in 40 years?

Look at it this way

Lee > Gooden
Curry > Z
Balkman/Q > Pavolic/Gibson
Marbury > Hughes/Snow

Hughes > Crawford (by a slight margin)
Z > Frye

The knicks are better at nearly every position if you switched the supporting case and added lebron this series is over in 5 games, and you can take out Marbury.

Curry
Lee
Q
Lebron
Crawford

Cavs were 4th in defensive efficiency, Knicks were 24th. If you swap our players for theirs they likely get worse. We have more talented players but they have a group that collectively can play D. That's why they're successful. They excel at rebounding and D and LeBron is enough to make them respectably decent on offense. Simple really. It's not LeBron carrying a bunch of bums who don't contribute to winning.

You need to realize that when Iverson went to the finals Deke was a monster....

Deke 14pts 14rbs 3blks
Snow 9.3pts 4.5ass 3.7rbs 1.96tos (some of the best defense in the league)
Mckie 14.6pts 5.3rbs 5.2rbs 1.5 stls (6th man
Lynch 8.3pts 7.2rb 1.2stls
Ty Hill 9.6pts 9rbs

They had an amazing defensive team of lockdown defenders almost at every position, while i think cleveland has been good on d, i think there is no comparison.

So essentially if Lebron can make anyone good why couldn't they just go with, we could play collective defense

Collins
Lebron/Crawford
Q/Balkman
Lee/Rose
Curry

Defensively thats a pretty good team if you leave off frye, francis, etc

He's not Jordan yet. Jordan carried his teams for the whole regular season and then stepped it up to an even higher level in the playoffs.

Other teams just waited for Jordan to drive the dagger in after a while. LeBron doesn't have that kind of intimidating demeanor.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Obviously that team is built around LeBron, but terrible? A few of those guys are certainly usable. The Cavs without LeBron are probably as good as the Knicks are. This is NOT a knock on LeBron, but let's stop making Knicks fantasy scenarios that won't come true. We stink. Period.

So? I'm not saying the Cavs are as good as those Sixers. I'm saying it's a similar model. They are a team of players who are offensively limited but do a very good job rebounding and playing D. Then they have one superstar on offense who is good enough that their offense is decent instead of downright awful. Great defense and rebounding + decent offense = good team. LeBron gives them that big boost on offense, but ultimately what that does is help mask a weakness rather than create a strength. Their real strength is in the defense and rebounding.

Gooden is a first class idiot. Dumb as spit. Keep him away.

Lebron is over hyped beacuse the media gets bigger and bigger each year.

THere was no internet to hype jordan, no youtube to dial in an see last nites game on demand.

It was a great game.

He is different because other than Darryl Dawkings few kids come out of highschool with an NBA body like he did. He looks 28 already, not just 22!

Jordan at 22 was a skinny skywalker, this kid is built like a tank. His strength is incredible! Jordans mental toughness was what set him a part from other all stars.

ONly other player I can recall being that nutty was Bobby Hurley. Full balls to the wall for 48 minutes are rare animals to find.
