Glen Davis

Everyone knows about him--no one has said a word about him. How many 6-9 280 pound skill players with a nice touch are there out there? I don't know if he'll go in round 1? but he will be a nice swipe like Paul Millsap was last year.

I think he might go 30th to the sixers. THey could use a powerforward like him.

Good call. Big boy and to be that quick.... Crazy. Plus he's fun in a Shaq kinda way. A real easy kid to root for. He'll be a good pickup for somebody, no doubt. You'll never have to worry about that kid being a problem in the locker room. Between him, the D. that Ty Thomas and Temple played and I always liked both Mitchell boys, especially Darrell. Very underrated, Darrell Mitchell. He ran a good show. I'm really gonna miss watching that squad play.

Good one. Remember how Sweetney dominated the Big East.

The next Sweetney.

Different type of player. Glenn Davis has a tremendous handle for a guy his size with a warrior mentality that Sweetney obviously does not have. I think there is something wrong with Sweetney's head. He should be better but he is weak mentally. He has proven he can play well but his eating habits and low-self esteem? seem to hurt him. Id like to see NJ pick up Sweetney--they could use him and I think he would do much better there. Davis plays from the foul line-extended down. He usually takes the ball high and uses his unusual ball skills to get into the post. This is why he doiesnt shoot in the high 50%--if a team can hone those skills--he's a bulldozer who can pass play in the low post score rebound and he's actually pretty good on the D.

Briggs, Davis put on at least 15 pounds since he's been at LSU and it sure isn't muscle mass. He has similar bad habits.

btw, if Skiles is such a fitness guy why has Sweetney put on so much more weight than he did as a Knick.

Sweetney never recovered mentally from his dad's death IMHO.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Warrior mentality come on Briggs you don't know if he is a warrior or not coming out of college you could have said the same for Sweetney. Sweetney was much better than Davis coming out of college are you forgetting the numbers Sweetney put up in College if anything atleast Sweetney showed a warriors mentality by dropping weight in college didn't Sweetney go from 320 to 260 by the time he became a junior. Davis seems like he has more of a warrior mentality hitting the cake and ice cream. If he isn't disaplined in keeping in shape I hardly doubt he will be on the basketball court. If he were almost 7' and 290 I would compare him to Jahidi White scratch that Jahidi was built like a tank Oliver miller might be a better fit.

actually he lost about 20 pounds since he came to lsu. and BRIGGS i mentioned him a while back, saying the same thing. people have forgoten about this guy. he's skilled, has a nice touch on the shot, and you can't move him on the block. not to mention the fact that he's lightning quick (considering all that mass). why is he projected in the second round again?

Don't believe the hype. How do you lose weight by putting on more weight. The kid is chunky and that is being kind.

Well, it's a high-risk, high-reward type of move. He's not athletic enough in the open court nor is his jumper pretty to watch. However, he is one of the strongest players I've ever seen.

He could be the next Tractor Traylor. He could be the next Carlos Boozer. It's all about value, and considering he is LISTED as 6'8", it is a bit of a reach to not take him the second round... especially considering how deep this ddraft is.

As for all the Michael Sweetney comparisons, stop. Please. Sweets was hardly a legit banger, because he was weak as proven by his piss-poor bench reps at the pre-draft workouts. Davis is a beast with his strength, as you would expect from a HS football star.

not to mention the heart this kid plays with. if only nate (who plays w/almost the same passion) were to play w/the same gridiron mentality AND control that davis plays with.

The only reason people say Mike Sweetney is the weight. Other than that, this is a rare skill player for his size with an amazing handle for 6-9 280. I don't think he's for the Knicks but I bet he'd do darn well on a team like NJ where they create space for a big man to operate+ he's one heckuva passer.

The Sweetney comparison is spot on. Neither guy has any lift (can't finish in traffic).

And we took Sweets what, 8th or 9th a few years ago and everyone's talking Big Baby going somewhere in the 2nd round. Gives you an idea of how deep this draft really is.

What you see in mock drafts and reality is much different. You say Davis has no lift--I agree -he's no high flyer but if you really watch the nuances of basketball--how can people compare the players? Davis has 3 man skills zach randolph type agility[the guy i would compare him with] great lateral movement extreme power one of the best handles a big man of his size has *ever* had. He defintely has a different mentality he's a very good passer--he's got his head on straight a good kid who was a VERY good football player as well. My bet is he will start getting hyped and rightfully so and I dont see how this kid could ever last past 20 even in this draft. If they say Morris was first round material then what is Davis?
