his guy is going through a family emergency with his daughter, he comes back to join the team, arrives late to the stadium, comes in a game when Utah really needs him and helps them take a game from the warriors. the warriors really blew this game, but fisher had a lot to do with that. This guy is a team guy, a family guy, a good player and a guy you really can't look at his numbers or his salary and say he is overpaid. this guy brings so much to the table, especially solid fundamental play and big shot ability. I said it before and people laughed at me, I said you can take fisher and put him on a lot of teams and make them better. I said you could take fisher and put him on the wizards for arenas and I honestly think the wizards would win as many games. this guy is a hell of a player and a guy, he understands how to win, how to be a teamate and a good guy off and on the court. He is a fierce competitor. I was really happy for him tonight.... with all the jackasses in the NBA, lets chalk one up for the good guys tonight, that is Derek fisher......

true, all true, but i can't sorry.

the guy has always bugged me like pins and needles.

he's like bruce bowen, he's a pest.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Yea, he has, but unlike bowen, I think fisher is really a skilled player, who for the betterment of every team he has played for, taken on a lesser role, but he does a lot of things well, he isn't fancy or a big numbers guy, but he is a player. Would have been a good player in any era.

People are so funny. If Fisher or Bowen were on your fav team then you would be singing his praises. Phil Jackson once called Rodman a thug in a uniform, Jordan cursed him, the city of Chicago more or less consider him enemy # 1. He puts on a Bulls uniform in 96 and he is a great defender and rebounder by all accounts in Chicago. Hmmm.... Perception gets foggy when its close to home. I guess it is human nature. LOL, most of the terrorist and dicators that the US have fought against the last 60 years at one point were considered allies or worthy causes to support.

Hes a one trick pony, an undersized 2 guard who plays the point. He is a shooter, a deadly one, no doubt, but thats it.

And he is way overpaid. The only reason he got the money he did is because real pgs are not needed in the triangle and he shined playing with Shaq on Kobe. He is a bad pg and a good shooter, and apparently a decent guy. Lets not start giving him the MVP just yet.

who said fisher was a MVP type?

he is a good guy, winner, great teamate, and last night going through a tough family situation was able, with his family blessings , to attend the game, came in when his team needed him, played big, hit a big shot. this is not the first time fisher has elevated his game and his team. One trick pony? that is not fair, he can shoot, is a stout defender and a very smart player, big shot maker, and knows his role..... He is just a throw back type player, a refreshing change from the chest thumping, gun carrying, in the strip club fighting, jackasses we have in the league today...

Yeah, why the knocks on Fisher? He is a good guy. He's been a big part of championship teams and quite frankly... he came back and played, played well enough to help his team win. No hating required on this one.

Fisher is a scrub player but great guy and teammate

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=3125

this yr he shot 38%fg and 30%3pt not even Jamal Crawford status, he's never shot over 43% from the field in his career and has had more sub 40%fg over his career than above. I'll give him credit though he's tough, plays good defense, and can be very clutch.

Fair. He's a decent player, good role player, but his leadership is something that is very helpful.

We could certainly use someone with his leadership over some of the selfish dirtbags we have on our team.

Yeah I'd trade Curry for him and a couple draft picks. I guess I'll start the clock after this post

Sadly, I'd trade Curry for anyone with a defensive pulse.

Pharezone, you need to hangout more in the off-topic threads-- I like your last sentence.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

fisher is single-handedly advancing utah in overtime and 4th quarter with daggers that hurt.

this is exactly what utah wanted when they aquired fisher......vet experience with execution

Fisher is a role player in the mold of a Robert Horry. He will come through in the clutch, but he is really average at most everything he does, except shooting. Fisher is a guy you want on the court in the 4th quarter to make smart players and hit clutch shots. But he is not carrying your team and certainly is not going to turn an average team into a contender.

of course not, but that is should not be a knock on fisher. what you just described there can be done by only a hand full of players in the league...

I'm gonna agree with TFK, except pertaining to the WIzards portion of his post. I always liked Fisher and never thought he got much credit for his work. He just strikes me as a guy who can fit in any system just b/c he hustles, plays good defense, makes the right passes and hits big shots. Always was a good fella and good teammate. Can't complain about him. I'm sure if we had him, people would be proud to have him, so we can run him outta town, after being dissapointed he's not a savior.

I guess the wizards part of my post may have been a little overboard, but my point is, a team like the wizards who have two really good players in Jamison and Butler really don't need a guy like arenas who is a volume bad shot taker and really not a good leader, but a guy like fisher would fit that team well, get the ball to jamison, butler and stevenson, play big in the 4th quarter and great defense at the PG position. A player like fisher could really help a team like that, might even make them better, not because I think he is better than arenas, but because he gives a team like the wizards everything they are missing and very little if any redundancy..
