I wanted Roy. That's who the Knicks missed out on, or Gay. Notice how most people think the Knicks biggest need to address in the draft in SG/SF and not PF?

With Frye and Lee, the Knicks never would have drafted a 20 year old PF with the #2 pick.

Yep it's the value of having pick in hand to make the choice necessary, not who was drafted at the position because you gave up the pick. That arguement cracks me up every single time.

Cracks yourself up, you mean, as you were the one who made it.

Cracks me up almost as bad as arguments that pick out the best player in the draft and say "we coulda had him" when none of us know who we would have picked.

I mean, we could have picked Adam Morrison too, no?

Why does it even have to be about drafting a player? What about trading the pick for a player or trading the pick for a future pick(s).

If Mardy and Balkman got decent and consistent playing time, would they be up there? I don't think so. Balkman is a good defensive player and can finish around the rim but not enough to make all rookie team. Mardy has a long way to go.

If that was known well in advance then trade the pick for proven player or trade out of the draft for a future draft selection. I guess the jokes on us in this respect Marbury has proven to be one of the weakest leaders and top losers the past few seasons huh?

Where to start. 1) We did trade the pick for a proven player and 2) that player wasn't Marbury.

I think this should be my clue to not bother with this particular poster.

Curry wasn't really a proven player he's still a project by all accounts. Remember ISAYUGH is having him work on a 15ftr next yr, this yr it was conditioning and post presence, the yr after next yr it may be his rebounding and blocking shots, 2020 passing out of the post. My argument is having pick in hand and it's value. And you can believe that if it was known Bulls would be picking 2 and 9 respectively for Curry that trade wouldn't have took place, Dolan so much as said so a little over a month ago.

Who cares about a popularity contest. I'm OK with teams underestimating Collins and Balkman. Ariza, when he was like the first rookie who could actually play a little we've had in years, fell victim to the hype machine. Everyone figured him out as a one-dimensional dunker and we lost him. As longa sour guys stay under the radar, they'll stay out of deals too. We need muckers like Collins and Balkman. No glory necessary.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Isn't Isiah supposed to be some kind of genius when it comes to the draft?

Regardless, people were talking about Roy a year ago, as who would have been the best fit for the Knicks if they had kept that pick, not just since he won ROY.

Funny, nobody knows who the Suns would have picked with the pick they ended up selling last year but Isiah claims it as fact, and others on this board echo it, that they were ready to pick Balkman.
