JVG was one of the best 'we' ever had! You'd take him back in a ny second.

Thats not really saying much to be honest with our recent success...He isn't Red Holzman or Pat Riley...Best we ever had is a stretch...

First of all JVG isn't bailing, his contract is expiring and he might be looking to take a break from coaching.

Secondly, what did you think of Isiah when he bailed on the CBA, after he realized he couldn't flip it to the NBA for a huge profit? Isiah hurt a lot of innocent people when teams had to fold. Great guy, right?

How is he a joke? He turned them into a top 10 defensive team. They just choked. Maybe just maybe he is tired of coaching.

And Truman shouldn't have dropped the bomb so soon ... I shouldn't have ate that beef taco before I went into the pool ... Maybe Micheal shouldn't have given that kid the Jesus juice on the plane. What the hell does any of this have to do with JVG's bailing or not bailing on the Rockets. This how much your post makes sense about Thomas and the CBA. You use to be interesting but now you just sound childish.

He is a joke because he looks for the exit everytime the going gets tough...He will do the usual shimmy...Broadcast for a year and look for another team that has upside...He just isn't that good a coach...He is decent but not a great coach...He lack creativity on the offensive end and is basically using Riley's defensive schemes..How can you applaud their defensive effort when the Rockets have been bumped out of the playoffs in the first round...

Talk about the going getting rough. I suppose Brown departure after one season was good enough time to make it work? The way I see it, JVG stayed a good amount of time here and with the Rockets, and if he doesn't thinks it's not working, then he has that right to walk. You can't say he didn't try. But then again, your one of those guys who still thinks starbury's going to be a star.

From my recollection, the CBA was in trouble before IT took it over.

I thought JVG bailed on the Knicks, but I don't think this is the same situation. Maybe he just knows which way the wind blows. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets were looking to replace him anyway.

I think JVG's a good coach, but I'm not sure his style will get any team to a championship. (Not that I'm an expert by any stretch, JMO.)

I have always believed that even with the Knicks JVG was a decent coach at best but not a great coach. One of JVG strength is his ability to get the players to play defense but his offense is so stale that the opponent will always have a chance to win a series. With JVG coaching the opponent will always have a shot at Winning. He has an inability to create seperation between offense and defense. That is why their plus minus ratio isn't that great.

Yeah, he does know were the wind blows, but the only bad part about that was, remember when Phil was available and L.A. was calling him? There was a slight indication that he was interested in the Knicks coaching position, but Dolan told the press he was going to stand by his man JVG. It was soon after that, that Van split. It seemed to happen not too long after he took the beating from Camby's big right. We Knicks are famous for being in the wrong places at the wrong times. I can give you countless examples. I really don't know any other team that has more bad luck moves than we do. Well' maybe the chicago scrubs.
I'll never trust this' team again.

His two best players were skinny Spreewell and Skinny Camby, who they tired to make into a center. Not much to work with really, but if they had Patrick in his good years, it would have been a different story. We're also famous for match-up problems.

Stop all the excuse making.

Jeff Vandummy is a glorified lifetime assistant he can only excel at one end of the court(defense). Because of Patrick Ewing jeff got a chance to be head coach on the biggest stage in America. The reason he brought on ewing TO COACH yao on the rockets was because "he owed him". Nobody's knocking down ewings door to work with other bigmen.

Jeff would make a good #1 assistant head coach

The little man has snookered so many it ain't funny.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I can understand liking JVG. I can understand disliking JVG. What I can't understand is those who take any opportunity to knock someone like JVG and then praise Isiah.

Other than that, the Rockets choked. They should've won that series.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I really wasn't a huge JVG fan when he was here, but now that he is gone I do have a new appreciation for what a more than average coach can do for a team.
