I would probably blame that on Frye and Isiah.

Isiah drafted him saying he would have picked him at #1 overall if he had the pick.

IMHO Frye played better under Larry Brown because Brown never had the offense go through Curry.

That could be what's killing Frye, he's confused and has lost confidence in his abilities and game too.

Is this a prime example of being mentally weak , or has zeke change alliances within his core.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

curry was getting double and triple teamed. frye would get wide open looks from 15' and brick them. once this happened enough he even started passing them up.

how is that isiah's fault? frye has shown no confidence because he's mentally weak. he had 12 boards in 29 minutes against a good chicago team in december, he's dropped 30 a few times, he has the talent.

"has zeke changed alliances within his core" ??? wtf are you talking about dude, frye has shown time and time again he has talent and can do things but he seemingly shys away from contact, refuses to bang down low (even though he's nearly 7 feet and 'put on 10 lbs of muscle' or whatever that crap we heard before last season), and lets his missed shots play mind games with him. because isiah runs the offense through curry what did this make him sad and he doesnt want to play anymore? those allianecs in his core changed?? what are you talking about bro?

i wouldn't give up on him just yet but i would see where his game's at around the trade deadline next yr and at that point if hes still the biggest coward in the NBA i'd trade him or move him to the D league to toughen his ass up.

To me, the biggest thing about Channing is he has a girl's first name. The player I would have drafted would have been Hakim Warrick- just because a name like that says, to me, 'warrior'.

Since Frye isn't going to turn into Tim Duncan Lite, I'd like Channing to develop a 3pt shot so he could at least become a specialist like a Donyell Marshall - where he had a three year streak with Toronto shooting 40% from 3pt range.

If he can do that, he can stay in the league a long time.

I think Fry will be a good player on other team.
He need a couple of years on team which play him 15-20 min from the bench without looking at how he was grafted and how he is hyped by media.
I can see teams like San Antonio or Huston taking him for chip (as they usiually do) and slowly developing his confidence back. Playing alongside with great players will be a blessing for him. Kid just get into wrong place. He need good coaching from coach concentrated on fundamentals. Pop, Van Gandy, Sloan, LB are his guys. This is something to think about for his agent.
It is wery small possibilty that he will develop in something special but he will be decent player in 3-5 years.

I don't think he sucks on purpose to get out.
But by sucking so bad he is doing a great job for his future when he get to right place.

Well REMEMBER Channing played for Lute Olson for 4 yrs at the Univ of Arizona who is a no nonsense type of coach.

Under LB another nonosense type of head coach he played a little better even thru out the confusion.

The knicks do not seem to be team of disciplined players.

Yes I do believe frye is mentally weak, but he seems to be a guy who wants to be in a structured system.

Also what could possibly attribute to that is his up bringing, his dad was very disciplined on Channing growing up.

So IMHO he needs to be in a well structured disciplined system for him to show a maximum amount of consistency.

This is why I beleive he's confused and his head is not in the game all the time while on the court.

Channing Frye would be the perfect example of a guy in need of a new scenary.

Isiah and his stable of horses are to lossey goosey for the forever thinking too much channing frye.

I don't get the idea that Isiah is a soft coach. He's actually a tough guy in reality. He comes off as quiet and laid back, but that's deceiving, cuz there's never been a more competitive person. You obviously have forgotten how nasty he can be. He just doesn't give that off in public, but I think he's got a fire in his belly and always has. This team has flaws. Even LB couldn't get this team to avg fewer TO's.

Channing is his own worst enemy. While I agree that Isiah didn't ever focus on Frye and give him a good role. Still CHanning never took charge and make the best of his chances. He was often out on the floor for a good amount of time and just never stepped up his effort level. Balkman and Lee showed that kind of fire and Frye just didn't. Even with the fact that Isiah didn't cater to him, there was still so much that Frye could've done out there and he didn't do it. It was all in his head. I just hope he can go somewhere and clear his head and come back determined to have a good season.

Channing Frye needs to work out with his buddy David Lee this summer.

Channing can give David some pointers on his jumper, David can help Channing improve his boxing out, knock him around a little to get him accustomed to contact, and most of all try to inject some swagger into his game.

We know two things, that big men can take time to adjust to the NBA game, and that often there is a let down in the sophomore year. You're not flying around anymore doing your thing when any production you give is gravy, and all of a sudden you need to be where coach wants you when coach wants you to be there and you are expected to produce.

Yes, part of it is that with Curry and Crawford/Marbury working on an inside-outside game, Frye was left somewhere in the middle. But that mid-range jumper could be deadly in that system, and we all know how Stephon likes to play the pick-and-roll with a sweet shooting big man.

So it’s partly on Isiah to make it happen, mostly on Channing. Patience is called for, but if Channing only ups his trade value a bit next year and we can get a shot-blocker somehow, we'd have to do that.

Zeke the player is not zeke the coach in any way shape or form.

Zeke couldn't even stop nate from acting like an immature child while on the sideline nate didn't want to even listen to him while being scolded.

If Isiah's only discipline standard on the knicks is players who are injured to wear a nice suit we are in trouble.

Isiah wants to be friends with the players when the temperment of some doesn't require that , but a swift kick in the pants.

Some players like frye truly needs to be coached in a personal way to get the most out of him.

Hard to discipline someone who's your friend!

Zeke seemed to manage that with Marbury.

Did you just stop watching the Knick games as the season came to an end, cuz Nate seemed to get better and I don't think it's a small thing that Isiah would sit Steph or Francis and pretty much embarrass them when they didn't do what he wanted. With Nate he didn't just have that one time with nate that you're talking about. He repeatedly got in his face and eventually he seemed to start getting it. I think all this stuff about Isiah being soft on the players is garbage. That man is a shark, don't get it twisted.

What about Nate, you don't think he was a better player by the end of the season? Maybe his giving Isiah attitude was the reason we saw so little of him mid-season. I don't see how that's indicative of Isiah just trying to be his friend.

Since Marbury got here all you heard was how Isiah and Marbury were neighbors and buddies and how Marbury was never going to improve under Zeke's protective wing. Start of the season Marbury comes in out of shape and not putting in the effort...Zeke benches his butt. That’s not getting tough?

With his players Isiah fosters an "Us vs. Them" attitude that has Isiah publicly supporting his guys. It’s not so much about being their friend, as it is being their teammate. He's not afraid to criticize the guys, but he won't make a public show if it to make a point.

This worked for him in Indiana, and I think its the reason we saw such a tight unit this season. But don't think Isiah is afraid to crack the whip when its needed.

Francis was bitching the entire season, nate was an embarrasment, steph acted disgraceful in the first 15 games of the season, curry didn't put forth the defensive effort, and he destroyed frye in order to promote curry, confidence is everything and when you lose it, its very tough to get it back.

Francis bitched because he wasn't getting the PT and we saw the final games of the season why.
Nate was an embarrassment and got his PT cut.
Marbury started the season badly, was disciplined by his coach, then improved.
And if Frye and Curry can't play well together, why does that mean its better that neither excels?

How 'bout you chill with the random hating and stick to the point of the convo, or start your own thread where you can babble on all you want.

It worked for him in indy? did he not lose in the first round of the playoffs every year.....

The point is that isiah doesn't know how to coach, he should have brought frye off the bench in order to get him into the flow offensively while running more plays for him. He needed to use lee more, cut eddys minutes by about 8, and it was painfully obvious that balkman needed to be playin ahead of jefferies, but isiah ****ed that up too because he ****ed up with jefferies in the first place. Starting Jerome James, Isiah was a joke this year.

The knicks should be commended for lapsing through the first quarter in 50% of their games only to fight there way back to defeat
