Celtics Sever Ties With Telfair
24th April, 2007 - 2:19 pm
ESPN -

Just one week Sebastian Telfair was arrested on a gun possession charge, the Boston Celtics are severing ties with the guard after one season.

"I wanted to let you know that we have removed Sebastian's nameplate from his locker in Waltham. The facts and circumstances of his case have not been determined but he does not have a Celtics locker and we do not anticipate that he will," Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck wrote in an e-mail to the Boston Globe on Tuesday.

Telfair's playing time became increasingly limited as Boston's disappointing 2006-2007 season went along.

Telfair's cousin, New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury, showed up to support him hours before he was arraigned, the Daily News reported on its Web site.

"The players on the Celtics have been explicitly warned, this year, to obey the team and league gun prohibition as well as state laws. We take this very seriously and will act accordingly once the facts have been determined," Grousbeck said Friday night

ainge's lone lottery pick and he traded it for telfair.

Telfair is going to be a Knick.

Then we can hear from Isiah about how:

He said he would have to get players in unusual ways

and

How Telfair is like having another first round pick.

Jefferson > Curry
Gomes > Frye
Rondo > Collins
Green < Lee
Allen > Nate
West > Crawford

I still think Ainge has better talent in place than Isiah at this point in time and a lottery pick to go with it this year

Is A-T-L an abbreviation for a prison or a cemetary?

Sure, sign Telfair. He won't co-exist with Marbury, so that means we have to trade Marbs.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Agreed. There is ZERO chance that he would be a Knick. ZERO! And exactly for what you said...if there is any type of jealousy or other crap...the lockerroom instantly becomes toxic.

AND WHY is it anytime a player becomes available is it that fans think we should get him or even explore the idea? remember what happened last time with Francis...

isiah has made a trade or signed a free agent every summer since he's been here. until he proves otherwise, fans are conditioned to expect a move this summer as well.

Telfair has really made some huge mistakes. He probably should've gone to college. He's shown some poor choices in judgement. His career hasn't been very good so far. I can't say that he's even looked any better than Nate. He's still a young guy, but he has a long way to go before he could be considered a good player.

We don't have any room for him and his game wouldn't make a difference in how we play. At least Nate is a VERY good shooter. Off the bench he can supply some instant scoring punch, whereas Telfair really isn't that good a shooter. He seems like he's trying to be Steph, but just isn't as good a shooter.

Marbs is pretty secure with his role/contract and being a shoe philathropist of the highest order.

I think the Marbs of old would have really tossed him out but I have another theory which is like giving a grumpy old dog a puppy to mentor they both benefit.

Marbs could really be seen as his young cuz savior teaching him the ropes and IF Bassy ever succeeds he can be seen as the older cousin looking and would actually get credit for helping him out. Perhaps Marbury, with a massive net worth can ease on out of the spotlight with grace while his family succeeds.

I'd take Telfair over Nay Nate any day. Nay Nate is a better player but was too special and perhaps has some trade value.

Im thinkin Isiah gets some trades done that open spots. IN fact, hes pretty good at filling in the roster.

Its the trade im worried about!
