Last summer we heard that Frye was going to "threaten to make the All-Star team" this year.
Uh, not.

What are the projected threats next year?

i heard that frye and jeffries were threatening to buy out their own contracts to save everyone the indignity of watching them impersonate actual 6'11" nba inside players.

LOL Marv. That's one threat I could accept.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Guarantee you, next year, it will be, "David Lee will threaten to be Dennis Rodman" or "Curry will be threaten to be an MVP candidate."

We already do. In fact, now we hope that the Knicks have ZERO injuries next year, so there's no more injury excuse, we hope that there's zero trades next year, so there's no more gelling excuse, we hope that the refs favor the Knicks and Joey Crawford doesn't come back, so there's no more ref excuse, we hope all our players hit their max potential next season and everything else favors the Knicks. Then when we have EVERYTHING going in our favor and we only win 39 games, maybe the fans who think we're haters will finally be able to look at things in a different light.

Then again, the same fans will look at the standings, see +6 and assume since we did +6 one year, we WILL do +6 ever year, and so...

2007-2008 = 39 wins
2008-2009 = 45 wins
2009-2010 = 51 wins
2010-2011 = 57 wins (NBA championship)
2011-2012 = 63 wins (NBA championship)
2012-2013 = 69 wins (NBA championship)
2013-2014 = 75 wins (NBA championship)

If only it were that simple. Yet, some ACTUALLY think it is.

Do you really think that this team will only be able to add another 6 wins? That's the kind of thinking that is what separates us as fans. This year alone we should've seen a +16 at the LEAST. That's with them going 10-9 over the last 19, if the Knicks had remained RELATIVELY HEALTHY at the end of the year. We're not saying 100% healthy, but it's not out of order to expect that you have most of your best players. That's not out of the question considering how the team was playing when healthy. It was certainly capable of continuing to play at that level. I believe they would've done a little better than that, but that's how I feel.

Why do I feel the knicks would've done better as the year came to a close? Cuz even without some of their key guys this team played hard for Isiah and even after a bad loss they often came back with a strong effort. You can't just ignore the way this team fought all year. Despite the many bad losses, which can't be excused entirely, this team DID TRY to win games and were often in them at the end. To me it's more a matter of this team having to learn HOW to win and also continuing to improve as a team and individually. Unless you're suggesting that all of our players have topped out and won't get any better or that as a team they won't get better or continue to develop more chemistry.

But they didn't go +16. Once again, they missed our expectations. I'm not giving them an automatic +16 when they didn't do it! So, next year, I think +6 or +7 is fair. Can they do better? Sure. But I'm not giving them high expectations until they meet a few. It's like expecting a retarted third grader to suddenly become a B+ student just because he improved from a D to a C- last test... and could've done better had he not had a cold. By the estimation of most, the Knicks have undercut the fans expected win total for four years running. Why is next year going to be different? Injuries, right? Zzz...

Do you realize just how condemning of character it is to consider it noteworthy that the team tried to win games?

dolan said "they could've thrown in the towel".

my question is "why?" what kind of culture are you breeding if you're lauding them for playing hard? it's a twisted warped way to find evident progress.

have we all stooped so low that now we just "hope" to have a good effort. or, we "tried our best". give me a break - all of you out there still using the injuries as excuses....GET OVER IT. it's like a broken record already...

there are countless other teams that have had injuries to players much better than ours on their rosters and some of those teams still managed to make the playoffs - the fact is that our original starting cast (marbury, francis, jeffries, channing, curry) were all healthy for the majority of the year and we still lost games that we should have won. the best example that comes to mind id the golden state game - you know, the "getaway game" before the allstar break. that game right there exemplifies the attitude of our team this entire season.

the FACTS are that curry is only half a player, marbury "just started getting it" in december - after 11 years in the league!!!, francis sees his time in ny as a vacation, jeffries was the "glue" i thought?, and channing plays like a schoolgirl.

the only surprise of this season is that we won as many as we did.

Someone is going to threaten me because they'll blame me for another thread that ridicules him and the object of his severe man crush.

Awesome thread by the way.

Seriously, how do you live with yourself?

Let me guess, next year will really be Year 1 since the Larry Brown season doesn't count and because of injuries neither did last year.

I threaten to become a whiny, insufferable "Knicks fan" and contribute in helping this board become a toxic bitchfest.
